McCain Dismisses 'Temperament' Criticism from 'Defeated' Santorum
February 04, 2008 7:32 PM
ABC News' Teddy Davis and Talal Al-Khatib Report: John McCain dismissed criticism of his "temperament" from former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in an interview with Katie Couric on CBS' "Evening News."
"I don't know what a defeated candidate for reelection who begged me to come up and campaign for him has to say," said McCain before pointing to the support he has from other conservatives in the Senate who have served with him.
Santorum raised McCain's temperament in a robo call paid for by Mitt Romney's campaign.
The robo call is going out to voters in California, Colorado, Alaska, and a few other Feb. 5th states.
Santorum then elaborated on his criticism of McCain by telling Time Magazine, "I don't know anybody in Washington who has worked extensively with the senator from Arizona who doesn't have a story to tell."
So what was Santorum's story?
He declined to tell Time.
Asked by CBS' Couric if he shares Santorum's assessment, Mitt Romney said, "I haven't worked with Sen. McCain, so I'm not going to comment about his temperament."
Romney then touted his own training, wisdom, and temperament, saying he will let others express their views.

Why would anybody want to run for BUSH's 3rd term? The people will reject whoever espouses that... no matter what.

Though I have never had any personal dealings with mccain...it is easy to read his temperment ..he is the bully type and is a warmonger!
paul and huckabee need to bailout so republicans have a chance to win this election....Romney will beat mccain if huckabee bails out...if they don't get out of the race there will be many hundreds of thousands of angry republicans!

Geeezzzz! I was just suggesting Paul supporters consider Mitt. You've got your candidate. I've got mine. I harbor no ill will towards you for your choice and I would hope to get the same respect from you. People who go off with such anger really need to get a grip. Conservative or not, Mitt's the only one who will be tough on illegal immigration and protect our culture. McCain will turn our country into the third world that Los Angeles and Southern California have become. Come see for yourself before you vote for McAmnesty, Hillary or Obama.

Suggestion to Phelan: Why don't you get your faux conservative Mitt to pull out?

Mitt Romney..."All-Time Champion Flip-Flopper of the Universe". Hated Reagan, loved abortion, loved gay marriage, loved amnesty for illegals etc etc until JUST BEFORE he ran for president. What a COINCIDENCE! Yeah...right...he's the REAL conservative. You Republicans must really have to hold your noses tight to actually be falling for this garbage. But you never have been too bright. You liked Bush Jr too...and we'll be paying the tab for your "excellent judgment" for the next thirty years.
