Obama and Edwards Sit Down in North Carolina

ABC News' David Wright and Sunlen Miller Report: Mother Nature may have called a cease-fire in the snows of Wisconsin, but Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., appears to have put the time to good use.

A helicopter cameraman for ABC's Raleigh-Durham affiliate WTVD spotted Obama leaving former rival John Edwards' house on the North Carolina.

Watch the video Sunday evening on "World News." Check your local listings for air time.

Obama is actively courting John Edwards's endorsement, as Edwards still remains undecided in throwing his support behind Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., or Obama.

Clinton met with Edwards on Feb. 7.

Obama speaks with Edwards over the phone regularly. On Wednesday at a campaign event in Racine, Wis., Obama said, "He is going to be a major voice in the Democratic party for years to come, and I want him involved and partnering with me in moving this country forward."

The two former opponents' meeting had been rescheduled from Monday. Obama said at a coffee shop in Silver Spring, Md., that same day, "It will be rescheduled. We're gonna make it happen."

The weather helped the meeting take place this time, as Obama's event in Appleton, Wis., was cancelled because of snowy conditions. Obama, who had spent the night at home in nearby Chicago, took advantage of the unexpectant gap in his schedule and flew down to Raleigh early afternoon. Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, was present for the meeting.

Apparently, Obama and Edwards hugged at the conclusion of the meeting.

John Edwards is no fool. He needs to look back at some of Obama's financial supporters. I recall Obama stated he didn't take money fro PAC groups, Well maybe not them personally but from PAC members spouses, their children and business associates. He takes from special interest groups ( Vote Hope, Move On) and corporations Exelon, UBS. Had fundraising from Public Citizen group by Nader idenify lobbyist-bundlers.not registered "straw donors"

Edwards has waited too long.

I hope he doesn't cave into pressure, and waits to see how things play out naturally.

Edwards is NOT a Lobbyists Politician. Hillary is. Edwards is NOT with the Old Ways of Politics in Washington. Hillary is. Why hasn't Hillary DISCLOSED her Tax Return? Could there be a listings of money from the Lobbyists. Remember that Lobbyists are Corporate, Hallaburton, and Foreign Oil Interests, etc. In Fact Lobbyists are Republicans. Hillary's father Republican Senator Rodan taught his daughter well. OBAMA08

Two-Cats, you have made a good point, but it will depend (at least in part) on who the candidates (in both parties) choose as their running mates. Some combinations will work, while others will fail. Still, I have also wondered how far charisma can carry Obama. But keep in mind that a charismatic leader can convince his followers to commit suicide. No, of course, I don't think Obama will do this, but the power of charisma makes it the trump card, over race and gender, and all three cards have been played several times already.

That's exacly my point , Obama is a charismatic leader , Mr.Larry Sinclair is not gay. The power of Obama made him do it.

Latasha..You DIDN'T just say that...lol
Well, be prepased to be raked over the coals about now, No one makes fun of Mr. Obama except Oprah...lol

Wow. Here comes another swift boat by Mc Cain in the summer. Obama is going to get bombarded with scandal if he wins the nomination. Is 70 year old washed up Ted Kennedy going to save him then too? Oh thats right. Republicans HATE Ted Kennedy far worse than they could ever hope to hate the Clintons.

True Democrats will not vote for Obama in November if he is nominated.

What a self-serving distortion. True democrats will put personality to the side and vote for the candidate whom they feel (or think) will do the best job for the country. The policies and positions of Obama and Clinton are so similar that it takes a magnifying glass to find the departure points, so what you are really saying is that if we don't vote for your candidate, we are not Democrats.
Let me say that it is this sort of antagnostic, demeaning, mean-spirited statements that make me lean ever so much closer to voting for Obama simply because I dislike the politics of hate and despair.

Hahahaha - All you Obama haters are in for a rude awakening on Tuesday. Good luck with that whole Clinton thing. I'm a lifelong Dem and I will vote against Clinton because a 3rd term for the lying Clintons is worse that a 1st term for the war-mongering McCain. At least he is honest even though I don't agree with all of his positions. The Clintons are bona fide liars and have disgraced the Dem party time and time again.

It makes more sense for Edwards to back Obama --- I would be very disillusioned if it were Hillary --- Most of his volunteers are with Obama now at least in my state.
Edwards would be very hypocratical no matter what the price for Hillary.

U.S. Army Vet

Guess you don't have anything better to do than to call people stupid....It shows how misguided you are.

Hillary is the most qualified and knowledge of all candidates but if I have to pick between Mccain and Obama--
I will vote for McCain who has true life experience in the miliary, Senate, etc as opposed to Obama who has basically only been a lecturer and a Part Time Senator.

Kitty , I am a true Dem. Never gone Republican in 40 years. But Obama makes me want to jump ship. If I'm not true so be it McCain I'm comeming.

Posted by: Carlos | Feb 17, 2008 5:16:25 PM

Jake. You ask WHY???
Story is way too hot... Pro Obama on all MSM's will never cover it until he is the Democratic nominee. True or false, you can bet the Republicans will use it later on.
Would you want to be the person or news station accused of destroying Barack Obama? Neither would I.

If anyone thinks John Edwards will endorse Hillary Clinton, you have not been paying attention to the campaign AT ALL to this point.

Deb

I will have no trouble pulling the lever for McCain if Obama is the nominee. I can sleep better at night knowing that at least there's someone taking care of business, not just taking about hope in an
emergency situation.

what a mistake john edwards will make if he endorses obama.this sure wont help obama. hillary clintons record speaks for it self. go hillary 2008.

i have to remind everybody, during speech with all black people, he did say: am i black enough.
man ! no doubt about inside his brain got some kind of color prejudice
i dont think he will stand for all race

Posted by: lee | Feb 17, 2008 5:26:39 PM

I sure hope Edwards endorses Hillary. they are both committed to changing the lives of the middle and lower class. They are both focused on giving voices to the voiceless. I have nothing against Obama, but he is typically representing the Starbucks drinkers where Hillary and Edwards are representing the Dunkin Donuts drinkers. And their healthcare plan and energy plans are much more similar.

My goodness--you are willing to sacrifice the future of our country by voting for Bush light and you brag about it?
And just because Obama isn't female? Or is it because he isn't white?
The hatred so evidence on this board is sickening; the innuendo and lies and rumors are frightening. Not that it matters, but in the day when we are trying to bring the country together to effect much needed change, I am ashamed of all of you who preach hatred and divisiveness. And since 98% of those with the greatest degree of hatred are those supporting Hillary and therefore represent her campaign, you have helped me make up my mind. I will not be part of any campaign that endorses such dirty tricks. Disgusting.

A true democrat wouldn't vote for any of the candidates, a true republican wouldn't vote for McCain. Any person involved with one world leader and taking our states away replaced by regions is not a true American. Upgrade nafta, yes, one world leader, he11 no! Anyone associated with the "secrets" should be prosecuted. Save the stars, liberty, sovereignty!
