Obama Attacks Clinton -- and now McCain -- on Health Care

ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports: Health care is normally an area of critique Sen. Barack Obama reserves soley for his Democratic opponent, Sen. Hillary Clinton. But today in Columbus, Ohio, Obama brought John McCain’s health care plan into the scrum.

Obama, as usual, described first the difference between his and Clinton’s plan for healthcare reform: namely, Clinton’s inclusion of mandates, which his plan does not call for.

But then the criticism moved more toward McCain

"Both of our plans are far better than what’s being offered by John McCain –- more of the same Bush health care policies that haven’t worked in the past and won’t work today."

Obama said that McCain’s plan doesn’t guarantee coverage and, "reflects the agenda of the drug and insurance lobbyists, who back his campaign and use money and influence to block real health care reform."

And speaking of lobbyists.

That was a point where Obama critiqued both Clinton and McCain.

"This is an area where I disagree with Sen. McCain and Sen. Clinton. She’s taken nearly a million dollars from lobbyists in this campaign and says they 'represent real Americans.' He takes their money and has put them in charge of his campaign."

Obama holds events in Ohio today tailored to promote his health care agenda, a roundtable at the Ohio State University Medical Center with doctors and patients, and a tour of the kidney and diabetes ward of the medical center.

Obama’s inclusion of McCain in his normal line of critique comes the day Sen. Clinton –- also in Ohio –- blasted Obama on mailers his campaign has been circulating in the state.

"These attacks on what we tried to do the last time we went after universal healthcare is the worst kind of politics," Sen. Clinton said, "Number one, it is wrong and untrue, and number two, it is exactly the talking points the health insurance industry used on a daily basis. Sen. Obama knows that it is not true that my plan forces people to buy insurance even if they cant afford it."

Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki, when asked about Clinton's remarks, said, quot; While Barack Obama discussed the best ways to lower the cost of healthcare for Ohio families, Sen. Clinton was one again attacking him on a mail piece that is 100 percent accurate. If that doesn't show the stark difference between the two candidates -- not sure what does."

Universal Health Care is NOT a guaranteed right.

If we desire to have quality health care, WE have to vote with our feet. I have found that paying with CASH at a Doctor's appointment earns me a discount of up to 45% on the spot. Kinda tells you how much the insurance companies cost the Doctors.

The only way we will get quality health care is when the INSURANCE companies are limited to a maximum profit AND the highest paid person in the company (including bonuses) makes no more than 10 times the income that the lowest paid person in the company. Of course this will lead to many companies going with contract workers to avoid the "lowest paid worker" making too little.

There will always be someone that finds the loophole. Closing that loophole will take our government years to find a way to move the loop hole to another profitable place.

The government is run by politicians bought by the highest bidder. It no longer responds to the people (voters). Notice the choices we have are not people that have been able to fix anything, let alone people that know what needs to be done.

We do not need Universal Health Care. We need individuals to "get it" (a clue). The government is not there to support you and take care of you. It is there to keep our borders firm and keep your basic rights intact.

Do not vote your rights away.
