Obama Fires Back at Clinton
February 15, 2008 11:40 AM
ABC News' David Wright, Sunlen Miller and Ursula Fahy Report: Sen. Barack Obama was especially harsh and dismissive today of rival Sen. Hillary Clinton’s latest round of attacks.
“I understand that Sen. Clinton periodically, when she’s feeling down, launches attacks as a way of boosting her appeal,” Obama said in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “But this kind of gamesmanship is not what the American people are looking for.”
In Ohio yesterday, Clinton essentially accused Obama of being all talk, no action.
“Let me tell you,” she told an audience in Columbus, Ohio, “there is a big difference between speeches and solutions.”
At a news conference today Obama shot back: “She has taken double the amount from lobbyists than any other Democrat or Republican. That’s not being in the solution business that’s being part of the business as usual business.”
Obama laughed off the attack ad Clinton is running here in Wisconsin, accusing Obama of trying to dodge debates.
“There’s a debate coming up next Thursday in Ohio -- after the 18 that we’ve already had,” he said, smiling broadly. “This is a distraction and I think people know that.”
The Obama campaign has mounted a response ad to Clinton’s ad.
He said: “Our general attitude is: anytime someone goes up with something negative we respond.”

Jordan..you must have looked on Hillary's website about her health plan. Have you even bothered to look at Obama's? Their plans are very similar except that in Obama's it's not mandated. His plan mandates it for all children and allows those 25 and under to be covered by their parents' plan. It provides the same subsidies as Hillary's so it will be just as affordable. Your statement that 15 million people won't be covered is right out of Hillary's stump speech. Unfortunately it is not true.

"Some people may think words are change. You and I know better. Words are cheap. You can't just talk about the special interests. You have to take them on," Hillary said. What a hypocrite! Hillary is the candidate who gets the most money from the 'special interests." Also, she managed not to show up to vote against a provision that grants immunity to the telecom companies of wiretapping this week. The telecom companies are one of the 5 most powerful lobbying forces in Washinton and she is backed by the telecom companies. Yes, Hillary you are right - "words are cheap." You just proved it with your action - not to show up to vote against a special interest group.

Hillary's healthplan is a much older plan, having existed LONG before Obama's.
And what do we do with the people that get sick and don't have insurance, because they can opt out of paying for it?
WE pay for their visits. They doesn't sound preferable to me. That some of us have to pay while those that don't feel like it just head to the emergency room for a free visit?
That is not fair either.

With all the Clinton attack on Obama. He has been vetted. The ideal that a republican attack will be less impacting on hillary than Obama is same old political trick. She has lunched all kinds of attack already in cohorts with republicans, they attacked his health care plan, call him a muslim, call him talker, false hopes and the list goes on. He is vetted and will do well with the Republican machine. If he can witstand the Clinton machine built on 3 decades, he has proved the cynics wrong.

Obama told us that he did not take money from lobbyists, but he did. He also sent more than $694,000 to superdelegates. Hillary never said that she did not take money from lobbyists. The key difference is who is a liar

Poll tracking by Real Clear Politics shows Obama beating McCain in the general election. It also shows that Hillary will either lose or come up short against McCain. Rasmussen Reports show Obama winning Nevada and Colorado from McCain, two red states, while Clinton does not.

The same Obama speech. Nothing new.

if this pitifully weak attacking is all it takes to be considered vetted, then let's allow teenagers to run for President. Why the age limit? Who needs to back up what they say with facts? Who needs to really have done a thing to prove what they are telling us?
This guy is vetted in dodging truth, accidentally voting wrong or not voting at all 130X. He is vetted in a lack of details. He is vetted in giving favors to donors. He is vetted attacking with Wal-Mart while his wife is connected to Wal-Mart via Treehouse. He is vetted in talking up Ethics Bills he didn't write, introduce, edit, or sponsor IN ANY WAY.
He is not even prepared for what the Republicans are going to do to him. If he thinks he's had it rough so far - just wait until they take Sinclair, and Exelon, and Rezko, and University of Chicago Hospital, and PAC and lobbyist denials, and 130 Present votes, and OOOPs votes in the state senate. They are going to reem him and then everyone is going to say its a plot to get the AA guy, when all along he is sort of dodging the fact he is only HALF black. We will be told we plotted to defeat the dream out of racism and stupidity, meanwhile none of the followers search outside his website for facts. They just keep quoting his own sites as facts without checking for bias.

The thing about Washington is , the longer a person is there , the more corrupt and crooked they become. I see Obama's lack of "TIME" in Washington as a huge asset , because he hasn't been there long enough to become totally tainted.
Clinton is part of the problem , not the solution , because her and Bill thrive on back door deals and scandal, that's the part they love , and it all boils down to "whats in it for me"..........and to hell with the American people.
Experience...........Obama -vs- Clinton
Senator Obama --During the first eight years of Senator Obama’s elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced:
233 regarding health-care reform,
125 on poverty and public assistance,
112 crime fighting bills,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.
His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included:
- the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law),
- The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, (became law),
- The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,
- The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, (became law),
- The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, (In committee)
Senator Clinton -- Senator Clinton’s, who has served only one full term (6yrs.), and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law, (20) twenty pieces of legislation.
1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Hon
4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson.
6. Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea.
7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.
10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.
13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.
15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty.
Only five of Senator Clinton's bills are more substantive:
16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.
17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
18. Assist landmine victims in other countries.
19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.
In Conclusion, you now have the facts straight from the Senate Records vault.

The onus is on the Super delegates to tell the American people what is actually going on.
Obama, being relatively new and young, need more resources and convincing to do, than the status quo Hilary Clinton and Bill.
It is even mor pathetic for the Super delegates to even receive money from Obama, since he is not as rich as the Clintons.
The bottom line; The presidential nominee of the party shall and must be determine by the people's choice and not those of the super delegates.
I STRONGLY BELIEVE 90.9% OF THE SUPER DELEGATES HAVE RECEIVED ONE FORM OR KIND OF GRATIFICATION FROM BILL CLINTON AND BY EXTENSION INDIRECTLY, FROM HILARY CLINTON TOO. OBAMA'S OWN IS PRAGMATICALLY INSIGNIFICANT COMPARED TO THE CLINTONS.
TRYING TO MAKE NOISE ABOUT THIS DEVELOPMENT IN OUT IF CONTEXT FASHION IS ANOTHER WAY OF INDIRECTLY FIGHTING AGAINST THE NOMINATION OF OBAMA!

why is everyone ignoring all of the scandels that clinton was apart of when her husband was in office..or him himself was a part of..what nobody remembers any that!!!!!!come on...

Obama is young, but he did take more money from lobbyists last month and he sent more money to superdelegates. He can do anything he calculated to win,
Posted by: Yes he can | Feb 15, 2008 1:01:19 PM
just sceptic...thank you for writing that finally someone who relizes what i see!! thank you.....

The differences I see between Obama's and Clinton's health plans are choice. You can choose to keep the plan you have, get your own plan or enroll in his expanded plan. If you show up at the hospital and need care and don't otherwise have insurance you get covered by the gov't plan. Done. Or you can go with HRC and be required to enroll in a private plan, oddly enough this is supported by the insurance companies, with no regulation on the level of service they are required to provide, these are the same groups that want your doctor to tell them ways to limit your coverage. If my choice are to keep my freedom to choose, or to lose my freedom to choose, I'll keep my freedom.

Just Sceptic: Get real. These are all vicious rumors in the tabloids. None of these dark deeds can be attributed or blamed on the Clinton's. You talk like they are mass murders and will put a contract out on anyone who crosses them...lol what paranoia..
Don't you think by now, someone would have confessed, charged would have been brought against the Clinton's and they would both be rotting in jail by now.

and he didn't so much fire back as to address the fact that she is playing tactics rather than promoting herself.

It's time for a FACT CHECK on recent reports of funds distributed to superdelegates!
1) Who are the superdelegates?
FACT: Superdelegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention include all Democratic members of the United States Congress, Democratic governors, various additional elected officials, members of the Democratic National Committee, as well as "all former Democratic Presidents, all former Democratic Vice Presidents, all former Democratic Leaders of the U.S. Senate, all former Democratic Speakers of the U.S. House of Representatives and Democratic Minority Leaders, as applicable, and all former Chairs of the Democratic National Committee."
(Source: Democratic National Committee)
2) When was this money distributed?
FACT: The numbers recently released on funds distributed to superdelegates date back to 2005. Any money given by the Clinton and Obama offices to support Congressional candidates up for reelection in 2006 would fall into this statistic.
Look at all the money Obama and Clinton are funnel to the superdelegates to buy this election!
FACT: The most recent numbers extend only to June 2007 - 7 months before the first primary even took place, and 8 months before the superdelegates became relevant in the campaign.

Obama said in his speech that he won’t build the bridge to the 21st century but he would build the bridge to the future. He won’t play old politic as Clinton did. He is tired of old Washington. But, the true is, Obama received help from Ted Kennedy and Kerry. Ted Kennedy, Kerry are old politicians and they played old politic with Hillary to help Obama. Obama is a liar; he bridged with the 21st century people and also accepted the favors from what he is trying to run away from to get to the top.
