Obama: She's Not Dead Yet

Share

February 28, 2008 4:13 PM

ABC News' David Wright, Sunlen Miller and Andy Fies Report: Barack Obama says it is way too early for anyone to write an obituary for Hillary Clinton's campaign.

"Remember New Hampshire," he cautioned at a news conference on board his campaign plane.

Watch the VIDEO HERE.

Obama insists he's not counting Clinton out.

"Sen. Clinton is working tirelessly, as is Bill Clinton, in Ohio and Texas," Obama said.  "This race is extraordinarily tight."

Obama sought to lower any expectations he might win those two states, saying he’ll be happy if Clinton doesn't achieve a blow-out in Ohio and Texas.

Obama said he's hoping to emerge from the 4 contests next Tuesday – Ohio, Texas, Vermont, and Rhode Island – with a lead of 100 to 150 delegates.

"I continue to believe that we'll go to the convention with the most earned delegates and I believe we should be the nominee," Obama said.

Obama denied a Canadian television report alleging that his campaign reached out to reassure the Canadian government not to worry about campaign rhetoric critical of NAFTA.

The Canadian ambassador to the US has denied the story, first reported by CTV News.

Asked about the report, Obama flatly denied it too.

"It wasn't true," he said.

This is how grown ups behave. Respect for your opponent, never assume the battle is won. CTV needs to put their sources out there. Of course the GOP will deny involvment.

Greg McIsaac of CTV says they are standing by their story despite Sen. Obama's denial.

Posted by: kris | Feb 28, 2008 4:22:18 PM

Obituary? This is rather distasteful language coming from none other than the king of cum-ba-yah, Barack Obama. It also sounds like a bit of arrogance on his part to phrase it this way. This is liable to backfire on him and I hope it does, bigtime.

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | Feb 28, 2008 4:24:00 PM

The trade talk from Canada was done by who?????You can bet they are in if for the Clintons,Clinton's they have done EVERYTHING in their years and will continue to get back in the White House, keep your eyes on the Clinton camp and people they know.Trust them NOT..............

Posted by: Honesty. | Feb 28, 2008 4:30:54 PM

Hey there West Coast Messenger...

The press on the plane phrased the question in terms of 'obituary,' not the king of cum-ba-yah. He was responded to their question, not volunteering out of the blue some opinion on his opponent.

Besides, this seems a rather strange line to draw for what is considered 'distasteful.' Speaking idiomatically about the possible end of a campaign? Let's try TN GOPs press release today- NOW THAT'S DISTASTEFUL.

Posted by: Smikulen | Feb 28, 2008 4:44:37 PM

Obama is extremely egotistical to talk about obituaries. I suppose that with the confidence he has, everything else is a foregone conclusion. Is this another tidbit to get the people in Ohio and elsewhere to throw in the towel and vote for him?

I hope that voters in Ohio and Texas Rhode Island, and Vermont are not watching CNN, MSNBC, and FOX, or else, they might think the election is already over.

Hillary is the most intelligent, knowledgeable, and experienced candidate for the solutions we need. She is tough, and we really do need to take this to the Convention. The Democratic Party has some cracks to mend. Crowning Obama King now will only make those cracks larger.

Posted by: georgia | Feb 28, 2008 4:48:35 PM

Did Obama say "She's Not Dead Yet" ?
No, he said "it is way too early for anyone to write an obituary for Hillary Clinton's campaign." There is a difference between these two lines. I do not like media twisting a candidate's line into something provocative. I do not like the words Hillary and death in the same sentence.
Go democrat. Go Obama.

Posted by: Al, San Francisco | Feb 28, 2008 4:50:47 PM

I believe that the Obama camp called over there and told them that, I don't believe it was a lie, It sounds like his way of doing things, remember the house deal what he said when it first came out, then changed his mind after more information came out,

Posted by: pespiloverforever | Feb 28, 2008 4:54:30 PM

Obama is saying it is not over until the fat man sing. I hope he win both states. I pray for a better america. Go Obama

Posted by: Wanda | Feb 28, 2008 5:00:18 PM

Change the headline, ABC! I agree with Al--Obama never said that Senator Clinton is "not dead yet." ABC News should chance this headline as soon as possible. Surely they can see how attributing this remark to Obama makes it seem like he is condoning this language that makes violence towards women seem like a light matter.

Posted by: Sam Buffaloe | Feb 28, 2008 5:01:50 PM

INDEPENDENTS FOR OBAMA 08

Obama never said "her obituary", that was the writer , for ABC David Wright.
Nice slant ABC.

It is sickening at how many people seem to have forgotten history - if in fact they ever were taught -- that with the Fifteenth Amendment ratified in 1870 black men were given the right to vote! It was not until 50 YEARS LATER with the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920 that WOMEN were given the right to vote after only 36 states ratified this. FYI most of the southern states still did not ratify this amendment until -- from Maryland in 1941 all the way to Mississippi in 1984!!!!!!!!!! So to all you female Obamabots who have helped set the feminist movement back a hundred years, thanks a lot! Probably in the lifetime of all of you there will not be another female qualified or even come close to breaking the "glass ceiling" in politics to run for president of the United States! WOMEN ARE STILL AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HEAP! I don't think the "young people" who are following Obama around like he is Martin Luther King have a clue about history! Black people will vote for him just because he is black. I believe the white people voting for him are still under the impression that a man is more qualified than a woman just because he is a man! SICK! The ONLY black person I have seen interviewed who is NOT for Obama is the congresswoman from Texas! Hooray for her! She evidently understands that experience DOES count and Clinton has the best experience.

Posted by: Jim | Feb 28, 2008 5:19:14 PM

Georgia,

Kings aren't elected. They inherit their positions despite the will of the people. That happened in 2000; it shouldn't happen in 2008. If Hillary wins more votes in the end, great, but enough of this sense of entitlement.

Posted by: Drew | Feb 28, 2008 5:21:30 PM

"Obama: She's Not Dead Yet?"
Obviously words you placed in a candidate's mouth.

This is where the news starts to confuse itself for manufacturer instead of distributor.

Just because it comes on the heels of TN GOP's stupidity doesn't make this smart. To plagiarise from Hillary .... shame on you.

Posted by: SE Croft | Feb 28, 2008 5:22:42 PM

The college students at the Austin University endorsed Hillary and they said something in their endorsement that I did not think anyone seemed to notice:

Her outline for a universal health care system is thorough and sound, while Obama unfairly exploits the resounding term "universal" in terms of his plan, which is voluntary and wouldn't actually serve America in its entirety (like Social Security, policy can only be universal if it is mandatory).

He constantly calls his healthcare plan universal even while admitting it will not cover everyone. Universal = ALL and these college kids caught it.

I now have faith that there are college voters that are paying attention to more than the media "inspired" Obama hype, they are paying attention to the issues and what the candidates are saying.

Hillary for solutions, not hype 2008

What is ABC thinking? The headline attributes offensive words to Obama THAT HE NEVER USED. ABC owes all of us and Obama an apology.

Posted by: OBAMA DID NOT SAY THAT | Feb 28, 2008 5:25:03 PM

Hello Americans Im from Norway. Ihv been following US election with interest. What most people seems not to understand about Senator Obama is that he is not a politician.

Senator Obama is a LEADER. And one must remember leaders are not born everyday. They have the quality to CHANGE the nations path!

I think he can will be a great president for USA and rest of the world.

Posted by: Rigel | Feb 28, 2008 5:25:48 PM

I find it funny that the Obama supporters are complaining about misleading headlines. We Clinton supporters have been enduring this type of unfair reporting for months. They'd better get used to it. They haven't seen anything yet.

Posted by: Mary | Feb 28, 2008 5:26:08 PM

I agree with everything Jim said earlier on his comment..wake up women of this country and all others.Hillary is the toughest and most confident person to take this country where we need to go

Posted by: mary goodlett | Feb 28, 2008 5:29:04 PM

You folks do recognize that the 'not dead yet' bit references the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, no? A good tip of the hat to the Python's best film, and one of the all-time great in cinematic history

Come, come, keep up with the necessary pop culture references. Honestly.

This is not over yet!!!! Latinos in texas, a votar por Hillary!!!! She is the only one who will speak for us.

Obama is just a talker, remember what chavez did to venezuela. Obama will be worst: it will be like letting the janitor fly your plane, or letting the bucher operate on your childs future.

Lets wake up america, vote hillary!

Posted by: Juan | Feb 28, 2008 5:29:32 PM

Did Obama used the term "obituary"? Or was it the reporter/writer? Get your facts straight, my friend.

Posted by: frankiestage | Feb 28, 2008 5:29:53 PM

Let me get this straight, Jim: Clinton has the best experience but she isn't winning. Black people are voting for Barack ONLY because he's black, and that's wrong, but women should vote for Hillary because she's a woman, and if they don't THAT is wrong. And they're setting back the cause of women's suffrage (and feminism in general) because they aren't voting for Hillary. It doesn't matter whether or not individual women feel that Hillary Clinton is the best candidate or even the best female candidate for President, right? It only matters that YOU say she is, and women should vote the way you think they should vote... Because you're Jim and you're an expert in feminist history? Ladies, any takers? Anyone willing to subjugate their personal decision on who to vote for to Feminist Jim?

What is ABC thinking? The headline attributes offensive words to Obama THAT HE NEVER USED. ABC owes all of us and Obama an apology.
*********************
Obama has been on the receiving end of more than his fair share of apologies. Obama supporters need to stop whining everytime reality hits the Obama camp. It is almost like he is the teflon candidate. Nobody can say anything negative about him without being accused of being a racist or being "negative" or nasty.

He is nothing more than a candidate and the media needs to start holding him accountable for his words, mistatements, flip flops and campaign tactics. If they don't do it now, they will do it during the general election and Dems will lose.

Posted by: tiredofit | Feb 28, 2008 5:37:06 PM

Obama already knows Hillary is in this all the way to the convention. He may seem arrogant, but I sense a bit of fear in him.

Posted by: Jay | Feb 28, 2008 5:37:28 PM

Why can't we all get along? I'm African-American and I support Obama and not because he is black and recent anyone who would imply that. I'm support him because I'm sick of division. America is at her greatest when she stands united and I think he can do that. I love Hillary and Bill as well but they bring with the same divisions that we've always had. Let's turn the page.

"The facts of our story are accurate." - Greg McIsaac, Communications Manager, News Information and Current Affairs, CTV

Obama has some serious explaining to do. He is caught in a lie about the NAFTA matter.

It's nice to see the news media is beginning to start their attack on Obama now, I was getting tired of the Clinton bashing ..it wasnt funny any more, but the Obama bash thats about to start will be fun :)

Posted by: al | Feb 28, 2008 5:43:38 PM

This headline grossly misrepresents what Obama said. I know Abc loves Clinton, but could they at least show professionalism by accurately reflecting the tone of a conversation with a Presidential candidate? Geez!!!

Posted by: Kevin | Feb 28, 2008 5:46:47 PM

Obama is stating that Hillary is NOT DEAD YET!!! I just can not imagine if Hillary would say that about Obama...

Posted by: Gabriel | Feb 28, 2008 5:48:59 PM

Obama afraid of Clinton? Are u joking? here's a woman, a presumed front runner for the last one year, has 140 million, the media on her side and the dem party and she throws it all away by being 11 million in debt, losing 11 elections in a row-landslides to boot and a fractured dem party. She is lucky she is a clinton to still keep going on. I think anyone else in her place would have taken the high road and thought of unifying the party. And Obama is afraid? She cannot even keep her staff on the same page. they are already fighting and blaming each other for the losses to come. I live in TX and I am telling u don't believe anyone who tells u she is going to win this state. not even close. he has a fantastic ground op and the Obama people call and urge voters to go to the polls. I have not recd. even one call from the Clinton camp. As for Sheila Jackson Lee who s supporting Hillary there is talk of oustng her in the next round of elections. Trust me, this woman is bad news. Obama is a leader who inspires, she is cold, calculating and has a multitude of personalties for us to choose from. I want consistency and leadership. As a woman I will NEVER vote for Hillary. Not now and not in the general.

Posted by: am | Feb 28, 2008 5:50:38 PM

When will you guys ever get it? The president may be commander in chief, however he does not run the military. He does not come up with the battle plan. He does not point at the enemy and pull the trigger. He has advisers, yes people he picked and trusts, but they are advisors. The generals run the military. The defense secretary runs the department and ensures that there are appropriate resources to meet the need. A great many people run the war, but not the president.
The president does not negotiate trade deals; he has people to do that for him. The president does not run any department he has people to do that for him.
So what is his roll? He is the leader, the visionary. He is the person who inspires the country to greatness; he is the person who can bring people of different opinions together. The decision is this. Who is better able to inspire the country to greatness? Who is better to bring people of different opinions together?
Do you really think that senator Clinton can give up decades of partisan attacks to bring the country together? Do you think that senator McCain can give up years of supporting a misguided war to get the right people in place to end it?
When you hear reports of a pastor with anti Jewish beliefs, think about who is spreading the reports and their motives. The source is a political partisan hack that will never be able to agree that the other side has a good idea. These hacks will condemn the greatest idea if it comes from the other side, wait a couple of years and recycle it as their own, and then the other side will condemn it because that is the game.
Think for a second. Use that thing between your ears. Come up with your own thoughts. Stop listening to the guy who can shout the loudest while holding a bible close to his heart. The talk show hosts both left and right don’t care if the idea is good, or if the program will work. All they care about is partisan bickering. When has old rush ever agreed with a democrat? The talking head experts on the cable channels will never concede that the other side has the right idea, even when their party policy agrees with that idea. Stop being sheep and start thinking for your self. That was the message of Washington, Jefferson, Kennedy, and is now the message of Obama.

If CTV stands by their story, maybe it will help their credibility if they named their source. What a joke.

Posted by: scvlptr | Feb 28, 2008 5:53:40 PM

Wanda: when you pray you better pray hard because if Obama is elected the whole country will have to pray. And I mean pray that we don't go into a disaster more than what Bush put us into. People better wake up before its too lake and its this generation like you that don't vote for common sense but nonsense like Obama is shooting to the American people. Hillary just got 200,00 more donors which I believe will help her in her campaign. 66% of the Hispanics are for Hillary in Tesas compared to 34% for IObama.

Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | Feb 28, 2008 6:05:12 PM

Isnt' it interesting that when Clinton downplayed her expectactions for South Carolina, the media all said she was running scared. Now when his holiness does the same thing, he's just being practical. On another note, you Obama supporters really kill me. 99.99% of the time ABC is so up Obama's butt you can't see daylight -- and you LOVE IT. But one insight into Obama and you hate ABC. You're as bad as the republicans who bitch about the so-called "liberal media" on those very rare occasions they aren't doing the Bush Administration's bidding. You guys just don't have the guts to call yourselves republicans. I'd respect you more if you did.

Obama is a good and cerebral guy. You all know it, he has class that most people just couldn't live up to. Everyone that bashes him without even ever meeting him has issues. That goes for Hillary as well. You people need a shrink.

Wanda: And when the fat man sings you know who wins and it isn't the thin man. I know about the movie with Jackie Gleason. I even have that in my computer. Paul Newman lost. So take it from there. And Chis Dodd is so jealous of the Clintons like everyone else he endorsed Hillary. Jealousy is like a disease that you can't get ride of it keeps coming back.

Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | Feb 28, 2008 6:20:07 PM

omg, I'm sorry y'all but one more thing:

"Audacity of Hope" is not something Obama's Minister was preaching. It's a phrase he used and Obama used it as his title for his book. The words in the book are his own, as are the words in his first book.

And if you must make up lies in your posts about Obama being a salesman then why don't you at least look at the facts of your girl Clinton and remember that she was a corporate lawyer for Walmart. Walmart, you know, the corporation that doesn't support unions and that treats women unfairly? yeah, that one.

Posted by: Heather | Feb 28, 2008 6:21:15 PM

This is getting kinda scarey. After the past administration, how can ANYONE choose to vote for a candidate OTHER THAN for what they have PROVEN they can bring to the table. Obama ran for IL Senate and before his first term was over, he ran for U.S. Senate and LOST. Since he lost he ran for a second term as an IL Senator. Obama's experience is running for office. When I review his record, he see that in 8 years as an IL Senator he passed (as chief sponsor)about 32 bills. Is it a coincidence that 27 of those bills were passed when he was running for U.S. Senate. So, in his first 7 years as an IL Senate, Obama passed about 7 bills (in which he was chief sponsor). Please do not quote all of the bills he co-sponsored. In my opinion, bills that Obama has presented (chief sponsor) gives me more insight into the man.

I am with the others who think the blatant sexism against Hillary is disgusting. I don't have a problem with women not voting for Hillary if you think her policies are not as good as Obama. But the truth is other than experience and health care the issues aren't much different. When women fought for the right to vote they didn't just fight men they had to fight idiot women who didn't want things to change. They wanted the men to take care of them. Well I and many other women want to take care of ourselves! We are tired of being under represented in government!! Everything from health issues to wages to opportunities are denied women based on their sex. And by the way right now there is no feminist movement, but it just may get a revival before this election is over!!

Posted by: Firefighter | Feb 28, 2008 6:28:12 PM

Oh ye of little minds. So all of Hillary's supporters are illiterates? Undereducated? We who support Hillary don't have the ability to comprehend? Well, comprehend this. You will not win this election without the support of our illiterate, undereducated little votes. And we aren't going to give them to you. Why? Not because we are illiterate, or undereducated. Because we don't like Obama. We don't trust Obama. We look around and wonder where is all this unity you keep preaching? Because we don't see it. We damn sure don't see anything you post on these blogs remotely as unifying. And if you people on these blogs are representative of this grand scheme of unity we will gladly take our votes elsewhere. You don't need any of Hillary's supporters to win the General Election anyhow, do you? That isn't us you are talking to right? So since we are illiterate, undereducated, and just plain stupid, I would hate for us to NOT fulfill your stereotype, and we'll just take all of our 11 million plus votes right straight to the OTHER candidate. Maybe they will appreciate our votes more than thee!

Frank,

He's not a messiah. He's just smart and will surround himself with brilliant people like all presidents do. Important decisions by world leaders are made with a lot of sound advice from people who are educated on the issues. I'm sure Hillary will do the same. I just find him to be the more attractive candidate, thats all. Don't have a heart attack over this, I'm sure your life will go on who ever becomes president. What are you doing to make this world better? Besides complain?

Posted by: Micke SF | Feb 28, 2008 6:39:40 PM

Frank: You said it all and I could never say it as good as you. Yes, I am voting for Hillary Clinton because I believe she is the one that could deal with our allies better than Obama who stated he would go over there without an announcement that he was coming. I know he has most of this country believing what every he says but his speeches are all copied from Patrick because he lacks the ability do create on his own. I am hoping for a win in TX and OH for her. So far, she is leading in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Hopefully it gets bigger.

I am a lifelong Democrat - But please keep Obama out of the White House - this man scares me...and he is not to be trusted. Please - people of Texas and Ohio - vote with your brain - don't vote because someone is a 'rock star' or 'charming' who uses a lot of fluff speeches. Use your head. Vote for the right choice. The logical choice to move us forward. Please vote for Hillary...for the sake of moving our country forward...fixing the ecomony..bringing us jobs again....and prosperity in the world.

The choice is yours - you vote for Obama - and he wins - you'll see what occurs...or worse yet - McCain as President. Mark my words.

Posted by: Brian | Feb 28, 2008 6:56:38 PM

Senator Obama is correct in his thinking - although he should have used another word, maybe he's used all his words.

And I agree with a lot of other posters, ABC News took great liberty with its headline but what's new about that when talking about either candidate, the difference this time is the headline works against BO not for him as it usually does.

Posted by: Susan | Feb 28, 2008 7:01:30 PM

I am just curious. With Senator Lewis'logic--does this mean Kerry and Kennedy will vote for Senator Clinton? I believe the good people need to let both gentlemen know that that is what we expect of them.

Posted by: Happy2B | Feb 28, 2008 7:08:06 PM

I got the feeling that the Clintons are now preparing to accept their debacle and setting the media for the blame later. Hill's continued whining on
her campaign stump will not earned her any more votes and might even turn-off
her potential voters. If she is that smart, and I don't believe she is, then
her stump should not be about whining. Her accusation of media bias did not
reflect reality and their continued delusion that they are well loved and verypopular. Bloomberg's announcement of not seeking the presidency is actually a
concession that his candidacy is co-terminus with Hill's run, because he just can't let Hill become the president. Another thing that the Clintons didn't know about is that they are suffering from MADD - Media Adulation Deficit Disorder, resulting in her becoming a Whiner !
With Super delegates now slowly trekking into Barack's camp, it is very
likely that she will again suffer another humiliating defeat in Texas and OH next week. Lewis have officially switched and this would have a net effect of 2 on the delegate count.

Posted by: wilson | Feb 28, 2008 7:15:26 PM

Hill was finally able to point the only truth she hurled against Barack in the last debate - Barack's chairmanship of subcommittee on Europe and she uses his run for the presidency for failing to hold hearing. This is pure sour grapes for his presidential run have upset her own coronation and so should not have run on her turn ! At the same time, she keeps peddling her lies on the release of her WH papers going to be delayed by Bush ! Then there is her Hillarycare that she on record used the euphemism of "some mechanism" applied to a worker's wage in order to carry out a mandatory enrollment. ABC news forced her to tacitly admit it was "WAGE Garnishment" which she is denying in the debate ! What a gal with the gall to pretend it was not so. No wonder she is considered the boy who cried wolf that the voters are already immune to her claims and just mind their own business ! She have already known that she have a high negative mark and blaming the media bias will be overlooking her negativity !

With her $35 million raised funds for February, it maybe too late to make any difference to her once bankrupt campaign as her campaign gleefully announced now. It just highlights how inexperienced and incompetent she really was, yet was so boastful with her slogan of "Ready on Day 1". How could she claim to be ready when she can't see how her campaign have floundered under her very detail oriented management campaign promise ? She is the real Talker and never a Doer.

Posted by: wilson | Feb 28, 2008 7:17:38 PM

We, as Clinton supporters, have the power to keep Obama out of the White House. Think about that one!

Boy its nice to be a Hillary supporter..She is a real smart woman and with Bill to help her out we get 2for1(Obama supporters no cheap shots) I think this country needs a woman to clean up the mess we are in..I think we have reached the bottom of the barrel with GW..I know the Obama supporters are too much in love with the voodoo crap he dishes out..All the Hillary haters whether men or women should be ashamed of themselves for all the hate and venom they spew out everyday..The whole world is watching our elections with great interest because they know that if we fail they fail too..We have some very serious issues that words and talk of change cannot overcome..This constant bickering by the Obama supporters clearly indicate that you are either little children or just too darn dumb to face reality..This is not a popularity contest and Obama is all gab and no go...I watched the debate and he danced around many questions like a little boy...He is very good at twisting words and when he gets caught he claims they were taken out of context...This clearly indicates he is immature and not fit to be in this campaign at all..He is too arrogant and thats because his supporters are equally arrogant and and need to take a time out and try to find out who he really is...The media has put him on a pedestal and from there he sees his supporters as little folks who will believe anything he says..Its nice of you folks to call us Hillary supporters illiterate and stupid just goes to show how equally stupid you are too..He played the race card well and now even the blacks who pledged support for Hillary are switching over to Obama because of race too..If you really thinks he gives a rats tail about you then go ahead and vote for him because we Hillary supporters may be deemed stupid but we never fell for the voodoo crap and saw through the smoke and mirrors a long time ago..This year i`m going for the race card and votin for Hillary as she is certainly the best candidate in this historic election...Go Hillary....

georgia, WestCoastMessenger

Did you see "obituary" in quotes attributed to Senator Obama?

MAYBE 'OBITUARY' IS TAKING JOURNALISTIC LIBERTY WITH WHAT WAS ACTUALLY SAID???

In any case, The Clintons lost the nomination for their THIRD TERM SINCE IOWA!

The Clintons are just being punished (punishing themselves really) with a drawn out campaign; because they are devious, deceptive, disingenuous, lying, unprincipled and WITHOUT INTEGRITY!

Miriane; thanks for making the point of my argument for me much better than I could ever have. You are accepting the garbage tossed out by the partisan hacks and accepting it a as truth. for your information a quick check of the facts show that senator obamah's advisors include people of many ethnic groups. your fear and resentment of one man, Louis Farrakhan, is unreasonable. you do not know his beliefs, i doubt if you have even visited the nation of islam web site. while i do not support many of his beliefs, i do support some of his projects, such as the million man march, this project demanded that men take responsibility for their actions. why don;t you do the research yourself, as i have done, then reach your conclusions. do not take the press releases from the candidates at face value. understand the motivation of the talking heads with their latest piece of Gotya news. realize that the talk show hosts have a financial stake in keeping americans devided. stop being a sheep and do the research and then make your decision. from your posts it seems that you get most of your information from talk show hosts and tabloid journalists. by the way i am a 45 year old: white; catholic male of irish descent. in my humble opinion barack obamah is what the entire world needs at this point in time, i only hope enough people share my point of view.

Christine--you are 100% correct. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Senator O - if you are such a uniter, how about calling a stop to Hillary-hating instead of encouraging it?

As for African-Americans who insist that they are not voting for Obama because of his race: why then are 90% of African-Americans voting for him? He has many white supporters - why does Hillary have so few black ones? Is it because her civil rights record is somehow weak? (Nope.) Sorry, but the case for a diversity of African-American viewpoints is not supported by the facts. Kudos to those who have the courage to look past color and support the qualified candidate.

"Obama insists he's not counting Clinton out."
-----
Chivalrous and polite as that IS for the apparent next president to SAY, everybody ELSE is counting Clinton out.

You never know what can happen -- which is a comfort to us Edwards supporters -- but one of the things that seems quite UNlikely to happen is for the humourless Clinton, and her wicked consort, to win ANY more primaries.

If Clinton weren't married to an actual former President, she'd be out by now: the defection of John Lewis was the last straw.

I'd say she and Wild Bill have set "women" back about a hundred years.

Get the hook, already.//

I agree Christine what I have seen on the Internet has been totally disgusting, and very unfair to the Clinton's, the sad thing is it can also be viewed by the world.

east village. african american's are voting for obama because of his message of hope. they are supporting him because he has inspired them. if there is one ethnic group in the united states that is begging for hope it is the african american ethnic group. look at the statistics. just today it was released that 1 in 100 americans are behind bars, is that hope? 1 in 9 african american males is behind bars, is that hope? does senator clinton inspire hope? does senator clinton make you want to improve your lot and that of others around you? does senator clinton make you feel that you can effect change in your home, your neighbor hood, your city, your state, your country. senator obama's slogan of yes we can is a rallying cry, it makes you want to get up off of the couch and get to work. senator clinton's slogan of hillary for president doesn't have the same ring to it. you may want someone to solve your problems for you, senator obama makes me want to solve my problems for my self, and then go out and help my fellow man.

The reason so many continue to donate to Hillary and don't want her to even consider dropping out is that we pray Texas and Ohio voters will do what the rest of the country has been too infatuated to do....vote based on who the MOST QUALIFIED candidate for President of the United States is, not who the press wants. I imagine many Republicans wish Mitt Romney had stayed in with the kind of week McCain had last week. The results of Obama's obvious lack of qualifications for this most important office are sure to surface, but unfortunately for the country, this may happen to late. Texas and Ohio, please do your civic duty proudly and based on issues, not just which way the popular or politically correct wind is blowing.

It would be so interesting to see Clinton make fools of all of the pundits and stage a comeback; then we would see a lot of those fence jumping superdelegates and "Democratic Old Guard" scramble back to what they think is the winning side. If I were the Clintons, I would certainly have a long memory on who helped make up, spin and fan the racial garbage that helped propel Obama ahead to begin with.

If people could put their ridiculous biases about the Clintons aside (many of these people benefited greatly during the 90s)they would be able to see what a smart and determined lady she is. As so many have said, it is still perfectly acceptable to be sexist, just not racist and it makes me ill to think about the men and WOMEN who just don't want a woman to be President. They make up these other lame excuses rather than admit their petty jealousy. I have actually researched her record, and despite what many think, she has done MANY things in her public service career to help everyone. How many Hillary bashers know how hard she has worked for children, including children with special needs? How many know how hard she worked for the people of New York after 911 with no cameras around, or how she implemented the Children's Health Insurance? It takes someone who genuinely cares about people to get them done, and yes, someone who can FIGHT for them. John Edwards understood it takes a fighter, not a philosopher, to get things done. Unfortunately, women are held to a completely different set of expectations than men. People in this country deserve what they get if they elect another unqualified, power hungry wannabee who can't come up with an answer unless someone tells him what it is or reads it off of a teleprompter. Being a nice guy just doesn't do it.

Hillary is the BEST person for President, Obama is nothing more than HYPE.. HYPE doesnt last forever!
Obama has no experience and has too many ties to certain people that leaves many unsettled... Far too many people are NOT looking into Obama, and are only looking at the HYPE..

Vote for Experience and someone with a back bone who can stand up and fight for America and its people, Hillary Clinton is the only one who fits that bill.!!!!.!!!!!!

Hillary all the way! Hillary Clinton has thought it through. She knows what needs to be done, AND how to get it done!

You are so right, she's not dead yet - she's coming back and she is the BEST CHOICE to be our nominee!!

Obama is running off the energy created by the Hype of the young college kids. College kids look at Obama as some sort of rock star mainly because he will host rock concerts and has movie stars around for this young group, its a political stunt by him to capture thier votes. Obama does not have what it takes to run our country, Hype doesnt solve problems, and if he gets it, Hype will only create problems.

Hillary Clinton has stood up and fought for people over the years and hasnt backed down, I put my trust in Hillary for President, because she offers what our country is in need of.. A Fighter!

I have been so frustrated for the last few weeks reading all the negative stuff written about Hillary on CNN, New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, basically everywhere, even in the NY Times who endorses her. Both my husband and I are extremely articulate, well-educated (Masters and PhD) and surprise! we are NOT Obama supporters. I think the political process will prove it works if in this time lapse, the public given time to observe and weigh the qualification of the candidates, will make the right decision. I am sincerely hoping that the people of Ohio and Texas and Rhode Island and Vermont will intelligently select the right candidate. That in my opinion is Hillary. She is brilliant, knowledgable and profoundly steeped in the depths of politics and I have great faith in her strength as a political wonk and woman to lead this country. So folks, let's get it together and get Hillary nominated. Oh, and all the above mentioned media never published my blogs (they would immediate flash "must verify that there is no inappropriate content" (such as I'm a Hillary supporter, not an Obama-swooner)

Whites were the first slaves of America, why dont you push for a White History month? If you did, would you be racist? I have found that with this race, it has opened my eyes and has found Blacks to be more racist then any other. You can not tell me Blacks by 90% all agree that Obama is the best candidate. With 90% of blacks voting for Obama, its about race and nothing more. Because he lacks in everything for being a President!

Christine,
Maybe that needs sent to every news organization so they can see just how all of their sleazy little jokes look in print all together. You are absolutely right!!!! Thanks for putting that all together. Anyone who says she has not been treated terribly by the so called press is delusional. (Maybe when this is over, Hillary should sue them all for sexual harrassment - bet it wouldn't be so funny then.
