President Clinton Celebrates 60th Year of Israel

ABC News' Jacqueline Klingebiel Reports: Former President Bill Clinton received a warm and encouraging welcome from the crowd of 900 guest Wednesday evening at the Yitzhak Rabin Center "A Legacy for the Future" Awards Dinner. As he stepped up to the dais, a few members of the crowd yelled from their dinning tables, "four more years!"
President Clinton gave a chuckle and said "I hope."
As keynote speaker to the Yitzhak Rabin Center's Feb 13th fundraising dinner, commemorating the 60th anniversary of Israel's independence as a state since 1948, Clinton spoke of the growing friendship between Israel and America and his contribution in the establishment of a lasting trade union nation.
"The obligations of confidence prevent me from identifying the number of Palestinians who told me this, but lets say more than two in my years of working for peace, told me that they often thought that Rabin and I cared more about the future of the Palestinian children than a lot of the people who were elected as their political allies, but wouldn't come out and support the peace," the President said as he addressed the crowd.
"I'll never forget when we signed the peace agreement in 1993."
The President kept to a short speech, about 16 minutes, and reflected mostly on his experiences with the late Prime Minister and the dinner honorees, James P. Hoffa, President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) and Brian Greenspun, President of the Las Vegas Sun.
Hoffa received the Israel legacy Award on behalf of his father James R. Hoffa, for his lifelong service and mission in bringing peace and democracy to Israel. Greenspun received the second award of the
evening, the Communal leadership Award, for his and his family's dedication to the State of Israel.
The fundraising dinner, held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington D.C, raised a total of 2 million dollars in donations that will go toward the completion of the Museum at the Yitzhak Rabin Center. The Museum will preserve Yitzhak Rabin's legacy and educate future generations and young leaders in Israel.
The Yitzhak Rabin Center is a memorial foundation established to commemorate the life and legacy of slain Prime Minister of Israel,Yitzhak Rabin.

Bill Clinton's administration undermined Israel at every step. I worked in D.C. at the time and participated in the MidEast Peace Process, including several trips there. Arab occupation and destruction of Jewish lands, homes, businesses, terrorists allowed to run free, the PA never held to its pledges...and Israel constantly held to a different standard. Bill Clinton is a big phony.

Yeah, I remember the Arab occupation of Israel. All those bulldozers in the middle of the night tearing down Jewish homes and businesses. Then the Arabs starting segregating the Jews into the refugee camps and refusing them the right of return to their own lands. Now the Srabs are building that huge wall on Jewish land and they've been keeping the Israelis from getting food, electricity, and medical care.
