Taking on New York Is All In a Day's Work For Huckabee

ABC News' Kevin Chupka Reports: Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee had quite a day in New York City Thursday. There was, of course, the serendipity of being in the country's largest media market when news broke of Mitt Romney's campaign demise. He was in meetings when it happened, watching the ticker on the bottom of a muted cable news channel, waiting for confirmation of the rumors that had been swirling earlier in the day.
It was announced late in the day he had received the personal endorsement of James Dobson the head of Focus on the Family and a very influential name in conservative Christian movement.
According to Huckabee's national campaign chair, Ed Rollins, Dobson called Huckabee Thursday to chat, making sure that he was the right choice and would not have any skeletons in the closet that might embarrass Dobson for having endorsed him.
Huckabee taped an episode of "Tyra" in the afternoon. The hour long interview with the former super model turned media mogul Tyra Banks was one of the most in-depth interviews, touching on everything from the news of the day, to his amazing weight loss, to his marriage and even a slew of important issues like Iraq, immigration, government spending and gay marriage.
Banks pressed him repeatedly on the last topic saying, "I love the gay and the gays love me."
Huckabee stuck to his fervent belief that marriage is something to be shared by one man and one woman for life but made sure Banks' audience in the studio and in her syndicated viewership knew that he believes everyone has the right to live their life as they see fit, even saying -- as he's admitted on the stump time and time again -- he would support a marriage amendment to the constitution, banning gay marriage.
Even with some talk of tough issue, Banks' interview was largely light-hearted: we all learned that Huckabee hates carrots, and that if he could have any cosmetic surgery he could chose he would add some hair to the top of his head.
From "Tyra's" Chelsea studios Huckabee rushed uptown to visit his mock running mate, Stephen Colbert, for a taping of the "Colbert Report."
Colbert proclaimed to his audience that with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney dropping out, Senator John McCain, R-Ariz., was the presumptive nominee only to have Huckabee storm out from back stage to correct him.
The two walked over to Colbert's version of the large maps used by news networks on Super Tuesday to break down the vote. Due to a cable channel budget, however, Colbert's version was a puzzle of the United States on an air hockey table. Huckabee explained that the next big state for him would be Texas and Colbert challenged him to a match using the Lonestar State as a puck.
After a day of good news and fun Huckabee hits the campaign trail to rally with and glad hand the good people of Kansas on Friday before making his rounds back to Washington, D.C. to speak at CPAC on Saturday.

Huck's got a way with people.
You see a man with Humble Roots while having risen near the top of the mountain,still knows where he came from.
He's got a common touch and will be a champion for the common man.
After all, whether we know it or not, we are all just plain ordinary folks inside.
