Viva Ron Paul Revolution (But With Fewer Staffers)
February 09, 2008 12:31 PM
Late on a Friday night comes a tacit admission from Ron Paul that he will not be President. Sort of.
In an emailed message to supporters, Paul says, "Let me tell you my thoughts with Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero." From Paul this is about as close as we can get to an admission there there is no possible way he can get the nomination.
Indeed, Paul is not ending or suspending his campaign. The fact there won't be a brokered convention, "does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get," he declares.
He's just going to do it with even fewer resources than he already has. "With so many primaries and caucuses now over," writes Paul, "We do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter."
Paul also, for the umpteenth time, rules out a third party run and says he will refocus on keeping his Congressional seat. He faces a primary challenge in Texas.
"I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen," he says.
Paul's next campaign event comes this weekend and it is for his Congressional campaign in Lake Jackson, Texas. The next event listed on his website is not until Feb. 28th -- the next Republican Presidential debate, where there will already probably be a lonely stage.

This country does not deserve someone as good and honest as Ron Paul.......

No mention of Paul in the past few weeks, and then suddenly you have a couple stories on him in the same day? You serve your masters well. Shame on the corporate-controlled media for deliberately denying the American people this honest, sincere, and very, very correct man. America - you'll realize what you've missed only after it's too late...

As long as the powers that run the stories continue to pander to a 105-IQ populus, few people will pay attention to this opportunity for a great leader passed upon by a generation that needed him so dearly.

Congressman Paul's decision makes sense to me. He is correct, most of the primary decisions are over. For whatever reasons, the Republican hierarchy has settled on McCain. Yet if Paul's supporters don't quit, we may still be able to influence the Party platform and convention.

Mitt "suspended" his campaign so that his delegates wouldn't run to Paul, which is what they were planning to do. He's stopping to prevent a brokered convention, that would give Paul and his supporters a chance to take their message to the American people. Mitt thinks by letting Hilliary win now, he can beat her in '12. Um, sorry Mitt but being the male "Hilliary" makes you no alternative at all. And if the Republican party nominates him, they will have thrown ANOTHER electon to a Clinton, and they will have deserved to lose, just like they will this fall. The party would rather be in control of a perennial loser, than bring in new people, and stand on conservative values. Republican's are repulsed by McCain, and will stay home. Thanks GOP. For ruining the future of our country.

Yep, the fat cats can rest easier now. The rape of America continues. The main stream media has done its dirty work and we Americans are left to choose between dumb, dumber, and dumbest. None of them give a damn about you and I. I hope everyone out there is proud; can you all squeal like a pig? For me, I'm not even going to vote this time; first time in over 30 years. It just isn't worth it.

I like Ron Paul especially because he would eliminate the shady actions and the "beat the war drum" of the Bush administration. Backing a presidential candidate who supports warmongering and occupying other countries will further ruin this country. China will completely own America,if we start more wars. The traitorous Neocns are praying for more wars,Ron Paul is our best hope to keep the evil Neocons at bay.

Media black-out and constant down-playing Ron Paul from the start by the main stream media was so obvious. The debates were a joke. They constantly skipped him and lied to him, etc. What we need is this country is free advertising on TV for all candidates providing equal debate time for all.

Folks, pay attention to your local represenatives, and if you don't like what you see. Vote them out. Run for office, school board, dog catcher, I don't care. We have to break up the monopoly of power somewhere. Cancel the newspaper, to hell with "the evening snooze." (news) Forget O'Reilly, Obermann, Coulter, and all the "left/right divide and conquer" hacks. Stand up for yourself, and take charge of your community. Because these greedy slumlords will do all they can to fill the void. If we refuse to get involved and hold them accountable, how can we expect a differen't result. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Let's do something differen't and regain control over our lives. They work for US, but only if WE throw them out when they ignore our voice. Throw the bums OUT!!! Don't vote for the incumbent. Make them WORK for a living!!! Get involved. I know you can write a letter a week, or throw in a phone call. Come on, it's only YOUR country!

CBA, I'm glad to see you're still upbeat and fighting. In the movies, Mr. Smith beats the big bad Taylor machine. In real life, the Taylor machine wins every time. The last election we were given a "choice" of G.W.Dipsh_t or Mr. Weiner Kerry. I held my nose and voted for Kerry ONLY because ANTHING had to be better than Bush. When I was growing up we use to laugh at the Soviet elections with only one party and one candidate. Can I really say that today, we are any better? No.

Ron Paul’s perspective has added great merit and value to highlight one workable roadmap for a better America.
Disappointingly, these roads are increasingly less traveled by most of today’s super polished politicians. Figuratively speaking, they prefer the highway to hell; lobbyism, cronyism, special interest, and selfishness have stolen the very sole of national public service.
What was once a “calling” to serve the greater good has now simply become a “career”.
Crime and politics have three things in common Motive, Intent, and Opportunity.
Voters are victims of this political felony. Our democratic system has mutated into a monster fed by tax payers and arrogantly ruled by a small circle of aloof dynasties of self anointed blue bloods.
The old adage is true – if we don’t learn from history we are certainly doomed to repeat it………..over and over again.
Let the voter beware!

Ron Paul simply has no place in american. No one that is that far to the right will ever appeal to a mainstream america. To win the presidency you have to have first, alot of money. Second you have to be moderate enougth to not alienate fellow Republicans so that they vote for democrats. Neither of which Paul did with much villition.

The US constitution has no place in America..then we are doomed......

Yup - now the only choice is "none of the above."

Paul had a better chance winning the race for the next cult leader for Heaven's Gate than for president. Look at his supporters. Bunch of conspiracy nut whackjobs.
And if you don't vote for Paul then you're against the constitution right? What a joke you people are.

in response to Paulwho who wrote "Paul had a better chance winning the race for the next cult leader for Heaven's Gate than for president. Look at his supporters. Bunch of conspiracy nut whackjobs.

Well, you must have been following us closely somehow with all the media blackout of our candidate-must have been some interest there-bet your voting for McCain- No, your not against the constitution if you don't vote for Paul you nutjob- your against the future of freedom, prosperity and hope for America....and as to conspiracy...you must question everything or you'll fall for anything...
Posted by: moonslippers | Feb 9, 2008 7:33:25 PM
"...or you'll fall for anything?" So we're quoting song lyrics now to support our unviable candidate? Is that what "Dr. Paul" has been pushing to keep hope alive? It is impossible to get away from Paul's "enthusiastic" supporters, as they are all over the net, in every blog, at the end of every news story. The fact is, Ron Paul would not even BE a candidate if not for the free publicity of the WWW. He should thank his stars that the good folks of Texas put up with him in Congress, and keep his presidential ambitions on his bedside table where they belong. Attention Ron Paul Supporters: There Is No Conspiracy! The World Is Not Out To Get You Or Your Candidate! Life Will Continue After This Election, No Matter Who Wins! Just like it continued after Bush won...remember?

My guess is that Paulwho doesn't think outside the box too much, doesn't challenge the status quo to much, doesn't examine life too much.
At least Ron Paul is capable of critically analyzing complex issues and coming up with original solutions for them.

Its discouraging to think, that with all of the religious freaks in this world and especially in America and these foreign trade agreements that have gone overseas, and all of the American Republic that has been sold to Spain, China, Southeast Asia, the Philipines and India, I find it unbelievable that these same descriptive creatures continue to elect the very people who have sold out the American Ideals that hundreds of thousands of American youth, highschool kids have died or have been sacrificed in the name of God and country and just plain American blood spilled for oil and just plain stupidity to prove that we are the worlds superior nation. It doesnt take a war to prove a nations superiority, but it does take people with intelligence and cunning to maintain a decent, respectable image for the world to look up to. We have been without a true leader for many years and it may be too late to gain any respect.
