Weather Slows Clinton Down in Wisconsin

February 17, 2008 5:59 PM

ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Hillary Clinton hadn't planned to stay in Wisconsin on Monday, the last day before the state's Democratic primary, but the wintry weather changed all that. With the snow there today, she had to postpone the campaign stops she'd planned to make around the state and wound up having to stay in Milwaukee.

Instead of touring the state, she made two stops at local eateries. She started the day meeting patrons at a diner in Milwaukee, where she dined on scrambled eggs and some corned beef hash. After learning about more weather troubles the Clinton motorcade pulled over in a Hispanic part of town where she toured a Mexican market.

Clinton was very excited to see an array of jalapeño peppers. She selected some red peppers that she had never tried before.

"You know I haven’t had red ones, so this is like a new adventure for me" she said.

When asked how she eats them, Clinton said "you can eat them plain or you can cook them."

Clinton placed about four red peppers into a plastic bag.

She also sampled some mole. "It's good, but it's also hot, which you know I like," she said.

The senator from New York, who makes no secret of her love for Mexican food, made her way over to the traditional Mexican counter where she sampled some rice and some meat, which she liked. "That is really good," she said.

Clinton’s plane finally got in the air to fly to Wassau but then was unable to land because of the bad weather there, so

She is now planning to spend tomorrow in Wisconsin after all and will be holding many campaign events to make up for lost time.

Posted by: Sidney,

She just got there. She wasn't planning on visiting and sure wasn't planning on staying. In fact, she wrote off your state. She only decided to send Bill there and make a special guest appearance after last week.

What are you talking about? He snuck off? Please. Do you know how long he was there? And did you know she was in TEXAS while he was there?! Give the man some credit. He went straight to Wisconsin, and she skipped it and instead went to HUNT for bigger apples in TEXAS. At least he isn't taking your vote for granted. At least he is working hard and asking for your vote.

She couldn't care less about simple small town/small state country folks like yourself. Your post speaks to the type of people that would support someone that couldn't care less about a state until they discover they need those votes!

I am a former Worldwide Marketing, Sales & Support Director from a major computer & printer maker. If I were to interview either Hillary or Obama for an executive position, I would want the person with the best experience & a person who has the ability to not only develop strategies but also understands how to turn strategy into actionable plans tied to specific & measurable objectives. Only Hillary can get to work on day one. BOTTOM LINE: I'd choose Hillary Clinton.

Marcia, You're absolutely right!!! Hillary can get to work on day one, not by this full rhethoric Obama.

Dear Ex Marketing Director:

I would think if you wanted success you would hire Obama because he has turned a long shot into a reality.

HRC had a great campaign plan up to Feb 5 and has run up against a wall since. She has run out of cash and Obama is outspending her in the critical finals 4 to 1.

Obama has one actionable plan and his results are measureable, he leads in pledged delegates.

River Red is right. Marcia our would be marketing director is wrong if she chose HRC because her company will not make it in the real world. You have to go with the flow and not try to stop it. Obama can get things done. I would hire a person with EQ rather than IQ if I want to sale something because they believe in the impossible and can sale you the air that you breath and you will gladly pay for it. That is what we need for America now. WE NEED HOPE! WE NEED CHANGE! WE NEED SOMEONE WHO CAN DO THE RIGHT THINK ON DAY ONE!

Hillary says she will fight, fight and fight for you. That's right she has never had the EXPERIENCE of unifying, consolidating, or integrating, because she only knows how to ATTACK. Look what she said about Putin of Russia and how he replied.

We are republicans, voting for Obama.....Only Hillary can force us to vote for McCain. At least Hillary agreed with McCain and voted for the war.

Good luck to all of us.

Marketing Director,

As Dean of the Science Dept. here in Texas at a prominent university, I jointly interview and approve staff for hire in the School of Science. I must tell you, I would never suggest the hiring of someone with the traits of Hillary Clinton.

I want someone that can work well not only with other professors and the students, but I want that person to display courage, intelligence, character, strength, judgment, conviction, self-resiliency, people skills, etc. I have not witnessed those traits from Hillary thus far.

In fact, all she has displayed is a certain level of intelligence. But, she lacks the other qualities most any Dept. head would seek in a potential employee.

So if I were to hire someone that was: polarizing, argumentative, with little or no proven leadership qualities, unethical, manipulative, etc. I risk losing MY job for it would undoubtedly impact other staff and the STUDENTS. Anything that impacts the staff and students negatively, impacts the university and it's intended purpose and function. Therefore, the fault would rest with me.

So, I would never put myself on the line for an inadequate person. Thus as a voter, I wouldn't put the future of the country on the line for an inadequate person either.

As a Moderate Rep. I wanted to vote for Mike Huckabee. At this stage of the process, that would be a wasted vote. Therefore, I will back one of the Dem. candidates. Even though I haven't decided which one yet, I will vote for the best overall candidate. The candidate that has conducted the best campaign with clear objectives and goals, will get my vote because John McCain is as out of step with voters as Bill Clinton.

I'm not saying vote for this person or that person. I'm simply saying from the perspective of someone with no affinity, affection nor dislike for any of these people, that voters must examine their votes from an overall perspective.

Remember the last time we had a candidate with relatively little experience, who claimed he was a Washington outsider, who dared you to bring up his drug history, who was the darling of the press who treated him w/kid gloves...look what kind of mess THAT guy got us into!

I'm a democrat who will vote republican if Obama wins the nomination. He's a fraud, just like Bush was.

Clintons are full of it! Watergate, Travelgate, Monicagate, HilaryCraegate ... you name it!

"Hilary - the Movie" - worth watching!

Hilary has no chance winning 08 White House! Republicans want Hilary to win primary; no one, other than Hilary can inspire Republicans more than Hilary. She is a polarizing figure!

Without 'triangulation' Clinton presidency is thing but bubbles & scandals. Clinton is the 1st president in the History of America who would have a sex with a intern in White House!

Hilary again?

Give me a break!

If I can not vote for Obama, I will vote for 73 old McCain.

Yet Another Clinton Excuse!
Now its the weather that's keeping her behind Obama in the race to the nomination!
Fear not Hillary it will all be over soon and you and Bill can go home,
wherever that is!
the only other politician I remember being as paranoid as Hillary Clinton is was Richard Nixon!

I hope the Wisconsinites don't buy into her staying as a nice gesture. She can't go anywhere anyway, so she is campaigning for the lost time. Which part of that plain English do you guys not understand? Are Wisconsinites all white, old, senile, and refusing to believe that she (or Bill) didn't, don't and will not care about you?

I am a product of Saddam Hussein brutality; still cerebrating the fact that he no longer belongs to the living. Hail to those who had the courage to take the decision which mounted to the removal of this evil man. He is responsible for the death of millions of Iraq’s, Iranian’s and Kuwait citizens.

Those who took the decision to go to war thought wisely and shouldn’t be blamed or punished for their actions, the most of us still regard those decisions noble.

IMAGINE – Saddam Hussein still in power today, occupy another neighbor country, have a reasonable arsenal of mass destruction weapons pointed to Israel, and still maintains his attitude of undermining USA interests in the Middle East, etc, etc.

GUESS WHAT – right now you probably will be debating in favor of the candidate who promises to get him down. So…voters should explorer these issues with intelligence and make their choices wisely; they don’t only owe this to themselves but to all of us and to the many soldiers still in the battle field.

The sensible argument which should be debated right now is weather the next president is capable and willing to roundup the operation, leaves a safe Iraq behind and brings the boys back home and safe.
