Your Average Dixie-Smokehouse-Bar-and-Grill-and-Sushi Place
February 03, 2008 8:54 PM
ABC News' all-girls-team Ann Compton, Kate Snow, Eloise Harper, and Susan Kriskey report:
So.
1:47 left on the clock in the first half of the Super Bowl, when Hillary arrived for the kickoff.
Ok, OK, Sen. Clinton had been at a big raucous Minneapolis rally, spent time visiting the overflow crowd in a nearby university holding room. And when she swept into Dixie's Smoke House Bar and Grill (think Cheers, with Ted Danson behind the bar), she never got a glimpse of the TV screens or even the Hillary signs and stickers at every table. Closed party, for supporters only.
And the travelling press, recently in rebellion, and promised free access, on the record all evening, swept in, too, braving the tidal surge as Clinton moved with glacial speed around the bar, posing for snaps with supporters.
But then! Without complaint! The press retreated to its reserved worskspace in the adjoining wing of Dixie's Smokehouse, past homemade jerky and logo items, and the Louisiana license plates, past the shared bathrooms and Secret Service detail, to a swank sushi den with $10 chardonnay, but free sushi as far as the eye could see.
We heard not ONE complaint.

Just goes to prove if you treat the media the right way they will treat you fairly back. Too bad the Clintons did not get this until now.

Hillary was just looking for a photo op. It's probably the first time she been in a place like this.

Oh, I see-- treat the press to free sushi and you'll get good strokes.
'Nuff said.
