Clinton's 3 am Ad Mocked by GOP Candidate
March 17, 2008 4:35 PM
ABC News' Teddy Davis, Lindsey Ellerson, and Mike Elmore Report: G.O.P. congressional candidate Laurinda Colongne is launching a 60-second ad in Baton Rouge, La., later this week which riffs off of Sen. Hillary Clinton's, D-N.Y., 3:00 am ad to present the Republican House candidate as a scourge of big deficits and high taxes.
Watch the ad HERE.
"It's 3:00 am and your children are safe," says the ad's narrator against the same visual used by Clinton. "But the phone at the White House is ringing. And if a big spending, big taxing liberal like Hillary Clinton gets to the White House, you can count on it to continue ringing."
The ad portrays Clinton picking up the phone and asking, "Do you know what time it is?", before Colongne tells her: "I know exactly what time it is. It's time that you guys quit running up the deficit with wasteful spending and putting it on the backs of our children. Don't you know that each of our kids already owes $30,000 for their share of the national debt?"
After Clinton is depicted as hanging up the phone, Colongne acts as if she is prepared to keep calling her back.
"Hello?" says Colongne. "Well, that's why we created automatic redial."
The ad, which was developed by BrabenderCox, closes with someone pretending to be former President Bill Clinton saying from bed: "Hillary, Laurinda Colongne is never gonna let us get any sleep."
Colongne's campaign has not disclosed exactly how much money will be spent to air the ad other than to say that it will be part of its $250,000 run-off ad budget. A Colongne campaign source says that it will air on both broadcast and cable television in the Baton Rouge, La., market.
Colongne is competing with Republican state Rep. Woody Jenkins in a GOP run-off which is scheduled for April 5. The Louisiana special election was triggered when Rep. Richard Baker, R-La., resigned from Congress to take a position with the Managed Funds Association. On May 3, the GOP nominee will then face either state Rep. Don Cazayoux or state Rep. Michael Jackson, who are competing against one another in an April 5 Democratic run-off.
Clinton's 3:00 am "Children" ad aired in Texas in advance of the state's March 4 primary and caucuses.
In addition to the 60 second television ad, Colongne has created a longer web video which can be viewed HERE.

Um, how is a GOP candidate blaming Democrats for the current deficit problem?

Budget deficits Huh.
A 3am phone call from Silda Spitzer, I'd get that one. But budget deficits seems lame but I guess its no more lame than HRC presenting hereself as a red phone heavyweight

Just relax, GOP, we'll get around to you guys soon enough. Do not make a mistake in the democratic fight you read about today. We're just rounding out into fighting form for the general. When we get around to you, and we will, only God can show mercy to you then, because we will not!

Hillary has to understand that the GOP is warming-up for her already using her own created deceitful ad right from Karl Rove's play book. They just have to leave her finish No 2 in the democrats' contest because she will not be the nominee. OBAMA08

We'll have more to worry about than budget deficits if thoroughly corrupt Hillary and Bill get back in power.

Sorry Westie didn't mean to touch a nerve.
But everyone else thinks its a pretty funny joke about the type of 3am crisis phone calls that HRC has experience handling.
Because she sure don't have Foreign Policy Chops. Matter of fact the polls pretty much make it certain that the People prefer someone else answering the Red Phone at 3am.

Dogsoldier;
No way Either of your
two Inexperienced Lightweights will
Beat John McCain in the General Election!
There is a Rasmussen poll that came out today showing McCain will a 5-7 lead over both of them!
Since Bush is such a horrible president,
according to you Democrats, your candidates show be ahead by at least
10 points at this time!
