Clinton's Fighting Words
March 02, 2008 7:18 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton had some fighting words in Youngstown, Ohio, today after receiving the endorsement of middleweight boxing champion Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik.
Clinton was quick to draw the fighting analogy to her campaign.
"You know in life you get knocked down from time to time," she said. "Sometimes you don’t know it's coming. The same kind of comeback that he’s had as a champion is what we want for Youngstown and Ohio, that’s what we’re looking for."
Clinton said that she and her husband had watched one of Pavlik's fights and President Clinton said, "I think I’ve just seen another comeback kid, his name is Kelly Pavlik."
"I have seen in the last weeks the resilience and the grit and the determination of the people of Youngstown and across Ohio and we’re going to win," Sen. Clinton said.
Earlier in the day Clinton said that her rival, Sen. Barack Obama, isn't the only Democrat in the race who can give inspirational speeches, but that is not what she thinks is important.
"I’ve given a lot of speeches in my life. Probably, I don’t know, hundreds of thousands. You know sometimes I finish a speech and people come up to me and say you know that was so inspiring and so wonderful it made me feel so good. I say that’s great. That’s just words. Our job is to make a difference," she said.

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Clinton's Fighting Words:
"Just words" is a wonderful description of her executive experience in Washington. And when it came time to make a cruical decision on something important on a world scale, she got it wrong and said that she was "mislead". Um Hilliary, YOU made the decision to go Iraq, (and you support going into IRAN) the responsibility lies with YOU alone. That's the difference between a Senator, and a President. I guess if it hasn't sunk in in eight years of living in the White House, it NEVER will. Judgement matters!!! And in every major decision you have gotten it WRONG. Forgive us if we choose a "different kind of experience" that what you have shown us in your time in public life. WE have that right, YOU don't!!!

I will fight for you" was used as the mantra of Al Gore 2000 and did not work. Empowering people is very important and the scenario is about "I" from Hillary and "we" from Obama. Americans have to chose between Hillary who will fight for them and Barak who will fight with them

Experience shows people the correct direction to move. A person in political office for more than 30 years would have had good and bad experience. With good experience gives an advantage to move towards even better direction. With bad experience one learns to move away from a wrong direction and move towards the right direction. Good and bad experience also places a person to weigh the pros and cons of an issue before making the right direction. A person with less or no experience when taking a new direction without knowing or realizing the depth of the situation or a good analysis of the situation may accidentally bring about something good or can also plunge one into a direction of disaster. So, change just for making a change is one thing but with experience one is able to make change and change for the better. Hilary is that change.

"We are the people we have been waiting for!" Enough said!

Clinton's SOS, her sinking words.
Posted by: Margot | Mar 2, 2008 8:54:10 PM
OK, wait a sec.
Hundreds of thousands, let's see. Let's take that as minimally 200,000 speeches. She says she's been in public service for 35 years (a bogus claim, but we'll go with it for now)
That's 15.65 speeches a day, every day, for 35 years. At 30 min a speech, that's almost 8 hours of speeches a day!
No wonder we're tired of listening to her!

I agree with Ayadura. Experience matters. Challenging the men for a job they have always held requires it. The Generals that stand with Hillary can not be all wrong. I am like J. Glenn, "I will be proud to call her my President".

Pati and Ayuduray: I respectfully submit that Clinton's "experience" is largely of triangulation and failure. She is not a good negotiator, failed in her push for health care largely because of her poor leadership, and has not faced a difficult election (until now).
Like many progressives, I feel betrayed by the Clintons. They hung us out to dry in the '90s. And the Iraq war vote and her subsequent triangulation is not forgiven. Her experience has not led to good judgement.

OBAMA is a scam. The republicans have really fooled the youth who jumped on his bandwagon. Shame to say we AMERICANS MAY LOSE THE BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB.
VOTE SMART TEXAS, OHIO, VERMONT, AND RHODE ISLAND.

It becomes more obvious each time she speaks; Hillary is a Country music medley. She STANDS BY HER MAN who's
CHEATING HEART turns him EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE.

"I’ve given a lot of speeches in my life. Probably, I don’t know, hundreds of thousands."
Hmm...I don't know how old Hillary, let's say she is 55, assuming she didn't give a political speech until she was 10 years old, she has been over the age of 10 for 16,425 days. Now is she has given 25 speeches every day after age 10, 7 days a week then she has given 410,625 speeches. Sounds more believable than other things she says.

Obama will deliver the Knockout Blow
on Tuesday and Hillary can Go Home!
Take Bill with You! Bye Bye Hillary!

maria: The republicans have nothing to do with the youthful support that
Obama has! Young People see a
John Kennedy like candidate in Obama!
He inspires them!
I have to say Obama's young supporters are Way Smarter than the Old Fools who
are buying Hillary Clintons lies and
half-truths!
Posted by: reaganfan | Mar 4, 2008 12:38:37 AM
This is just the latest fad for the youngsters. I would imagine they will move on to something else by the time of the general election.
I would like to point out something to the Texas voters. Many Latinos who favor Obama do so because after he started his run for the presidency he supported drivers licenses for illegals. As Delores Huerta (co-founder of United Farm Workers)told us in a rally, "do not be fooled by Obama". The drivers license issue is determined on a state level not federal. Obama as president has no power to give drivers licenses to anyone. This is determined on the state level, not federal. This is just Obama using this issue to try to trick Latinos to vote for him. Don't be fooled!!
