Edwards Still Not Endorsing
March 21, 2008 5:05 AM
ABC's Raelyn Johnson reports: Even while former Governor Bill Richardson was preparing his endorsement of a former rival, former Sen. John Edwards chose to remain neutral.
Since dropping out of the presidential race at the end of January, Edwards told NBC's Jay Leno Thursday night that he's been enjoying time at home with his kids and "bush-hogging on his tractor."
Edwards said he got out of the race because it was clear he wasn't winning, and believed that by getting out, either Sen. Hillary Clinton or Sen. Barack Obama would pull head. He said he did not anticipate that the nomination process would still be going on at this point.
Leno joked with Edwards about running as a middle aged white man, asking if, in retrospect, that was such a good idea.
"I tried very hard to figure out what to do about that," said Edwards.
Edwards acknowledged the closeness of the Democratic primary race and that the important thing to do now is unite the party.
When asked about siding with Clinton or Obama, Edwards explained why he feels torn between the two remaining candidates.
"I've actually spent time with each of them. First of all, we went through the entire campaign in very close range, we sat through, you know, unending forums and debates so I've been though a lot with the two of them. And I've spent a lot of time talking to them since then. I think they both bring great strengths but I think the strengths are different. You know, in the case of Senator Obama he is inspirational, he gets people excited, he gets young people out who otherwise may not be involved in the process. Senator Clinton has a toughness and a tenacity and experience that has value. So I think both - either of them I think will be a great candidate and I think either one will be a great President."
Leno asked about the meeting Edwards had with Obama at his home in Chapel Hill, NC last month, inquiring about who won the basketball game the two reportedly played against each other. Edwards stayed neutral on this point as well.
Edwards noted that he has spoken with with former Vice President Al Gore recently but would not offer details of those conversations private. But he did say that he believed Gore and his impact on attitudes toward global warming, are a great example of what people can achieve outside of politics.
Regarding Obama's speech on race earlier this week, Edwards said he hoped the worst controversy over that topic is over and hopes America can focus again on the other issues.
Asked if he would take a job in either a Clinton or Obama administration, Edwards replied, "I want to serve my country in whatever way I can."
Leno followed up by asking if he would ever run again. "I'm not thinking about running again, but you never say 'never.'"

Looks like Obama has his Veep with Richerdson... Edwards can only hope for Hillary. Since HRC is in the dumps right now, she may want to pre-pick Edwards as her Veep, even before PennPrimary. That is if he'll have her.

Edwards its better you endorse Obama. With Richarson endorsing Obama, the Hispanic votes will follow him.
I do not see how Hillary can make it to the White House if the Hispanic plus African-American votes are in favour of Obama.

i have always admired edwards--- i just know that he will support obama... its a god thing for me.
america has a chance to change--- a real change-- obama brings high credentials to the campaign and knowing what i know about john he wants to do the same things that obama wants... change-- new ideas-- unite the people-- of america...

I was an edwards supporter, because I i thought he had good program and had leadership capibilties. I still think he had a good program but now i know he can not be trusted as leader . A laeder is person who can make a decision when it face difiicult choises . a person who can not make up his mind after all we have seen in the race , can be called anything but a leader.

I agree, I would like to see Edwards stand up and make a choice, or to provide a more substantive appraisal of the candidates beyond one is "inspirational" the other "experienced"... doesn't really cut it. It seems to me like party elders are not really assuming their responsibility.

Im sure Richardson is NOT being considered for VP. I think he made a decision based on personal conviction, it was a difficult decision to make and was not politically beneficial to him to take a stand against the Clintons, so he must have felt strongly that it was the right thing to do.
Posted by: Dem | Mar 21, 2008 6:17:38 AM
I predict Edwards will come out for Clinton. It almost feels scripted, this Richardson endorsement, just as Obama's campaign is floundering.
Edwards will never endorse Obama, not with racial extremist Wright on his back. Edwards' constituency of rural, and yes, mostly white, working-class voters would feel betrayed to no end.
Posted by: Trevor | Mar 21, 2008 6:46:10 AM
I'm not sure if Obama would pick Richardson as his running mate, but I fear it comes too late. An endorsement of Obama before Texas might have made a difference. As for his appeal to Latino voters across the country, I'm not sure he can crack their allegiance to Clinton -- unless he is either Obama's running mate, or campaigns hard for him in the Western/Southwestern states.
Nobody knows what Edwards will do but I agree that his indecision doesn't speak well for him, and the optimum time for a difference-making endorsement has probably passed. An endorsement of Obama before the NC primary might make a difference -- but he couldn't help Kerry win there four years ago.

Obama didn't offer Edwards Attorney General which is what he wanted, not vp. Therefore he didn't endorse him. The Mexicans won't follow Richardson to Obama, they can actually think for themselves. My neighbors are Hispanic, and their comment to this development is pretty much unprintable. Obama is running ads here, in the county with the single biggest illegal immigrant population of the US, that 40% of the black men are out of work in this country because the Mexicans came here and took the jobs away from them. I'm old enough to remember when there weren't any Mexicans here, so I don't know what their excuse for not working was then. There are enough legal Hispanics here as well, and they are registered Democrats, and I'm sorry, you want to talk racial divide, here in the South, it's a bad between blacks and Hispanics as it is between blacks and whites. Richardson just figures this is a more direct route to the Presidency than actually running for it. If Richardson was anything to speak of, he'd still be in the campaign himself.
Posted by: Melanie | Mar 21, 2008 7:02:35 AM
Edwards might be smart enough to know that the people should decide this election, not washed up politicians. Maybe he'd rather just sit back and let the chips fall, rather than get into a camp. Seems Governor Phil Bredesen of Tennessee, and several other SDs are doing the same. Just wait it out, let everyone vote, and see what comes. Good plan.
Posted by: An opinion | Mar 21, 2008 7:08:21 AM
Could it be that Edwards is a "GOOD OLE REBEL" southern white boy at heart?______Meaning he might not like blacks after-all______ I donated a lot of bucks to Edwards. So I hope not!_____ Hillary has now lost Richardson, Too bad it wasn't before Texas & NM_____Hillary pulled everyones leg in Ohio about NAPTA______Looks like she was the one who stumpped all the NAPTA private meetings in 93, so much for her being against NAPTA.
I am 69 and have lived through all the Clinton scams and I really don't think Hillarys SUPER DELEGATES have even read about them or looked into the past scams and they will be voting only on personality or maybe a new job down the line. << a different kind of payola.
Obamas here guys.

"Edwards its better you endorse Obama. With Richarson endorsing Obama, the Hispanic votes will follow him" Posted by: Peace... Peace, are you joking OR are you just on medications? The Hispanics will NEVER ever follow Obama, and when Hillary gets the nomination, the African American voters will have no choice but to follow HER in November! Go Hillary!
Posted by: Stewie Griffin | Mar 21, 2008 7:30:45 AM
I have my own mind, I don't need Edwards, Richardson, or any other politician to dictate who I will vote for. I also liked Edwards, I still do. I'm not crazy about any of the choices we have, I think McCain is a dirty old man, Obama gives good speeches and that's it, and the endorsements he has received by Kerry, Bradley and all these other senators are only because they know he'll be a yes man and all their personal agendas will be pushed through. As for Hillary, I'm not crazy about her either. But I think she's tough and I think she can get things done.
And a quick response to 7:08 (an Opinion) How can you say that about Edwards? Have you not been watching the news about Obama's minister (Rev. Wright)? Also, Obama can not be telling the truth when he says in the 20 years of attending this church he has never heard Rev. Wright speak in the manner. Plus, he knew about this early in his campaign, but he only decided to address it when it became public and started hurting him. And you say you can trust this man. Don't talk about Clinton scams when Obama evidently has some skeletons in the closet as well. This good guy is not as good as you think.
Posted by: My Opinion | Mar 21, 2008 8:02:22 AM
Richardson is a loser or why else would he want to throw his weight for Obama when it would have served him to sit it out like lots of other SD's. I admire Edwards for waiting to see how this will play out. SD's will help unite the party if they wait it out since they will be in a position to negotiate behind the scenes. Real loser, Richardson -- you are not as fair as you would like us all to believe.

If Edwards would not do it NOW, there is an evidence, that he can do NOTHING in Politics. And no body should count on him Ever - if You can not make a decision, when needed, how can You pretend on Any Political role?
I hope - he will.
When not - it is impossible to have any respect for him, and just feel lucky - he is not running anymore for the Role of Decisions.

I commend Governor Richardson’s endorsement of Senator Obama. Whether he will be able to pull the Latino vote is questionable and remains to be seen. Keep in mind, the governor was unable to inspire Latino to follow his campaign and secondly, this group has v-e-r-y strong racial misgivings about supporting black candidates [that would be Obama]
Senator John Edwards will not endorse Obama for the same reasons highlighted in his [Obama’s] prolific speech. Senator Edwards is creature of the South and unfortunately, years of separatist indoctrination would have infiltrated his psyche. I predict that he will come out in favour of the Clintons. A good man though- passionate about poverty issues.

Obama fans can forget about Edwards endorsing. Read the article again. He is pretty well saying he supports them both and inst going to endorse anyone.
I think his values are Clintons. His voters are the blue collar white workers that clinton has now. But again. He isnt going to endorse anyone.
I think that someone is going to have to come in soon, because at this point, its getting more and more unlikely the clinton democrats can support Obama.
Someone has to come in and stop the bleeding to heal the Pastor wound between Obama and the blue collar democrats. I dont know how, but they will have to try if they honestly put forth Obama as the nominee
Posted by: tomdavie | Mar 21, 2008 8:40:09 AM
John Edwards has an ace in his cards and won't play it until the right time. Of course he wants to work in one of the administrations he said so in the article. The longer he waits the more valuable his ace is. Remember, Edwards is a lawyer who loves money.
Posted by: Waggdogg | Mar 21, 2008 9:09:15 AM
I am SO glad that Edwards has NOT endorsed anyone. Look at the change that has occurred since February? I hope Edwards holds out til the convention and hands all those delegates to Hillary! He has a lot of the same concerns as Hillary for the working poor of America. He knows it takes hard work NOT just hope to turn this country around!
Posted by: Darla | Mar 21, 2008 9:22:36 AM
I predict that, considering all events that have happened during the primaries and caucuses so far (not just that useless 'controversy' about Mr Wright), that Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee. Edwards is simply waiting for the last few contests to see how people feel and vote. Patience will pay in the end. Hillary Clinton does not have the vision that Obama has.
Posted by: Mark | Mar 21, 2008 9:23:13 AM
Reply to Darla: With all due respect, you are missing half of Obama's message. He's not a child simply advocating for just 'hope'. Hope is the necessary first component of real change before "hard work" can be meaningfully applied to any serious, focused enterprise. Obama brings that to America. Hillary Clinton is a competent politician, but she does not bring the short- and long-term vision that Obama brings for all, including you. Thanks.

I'm Hispanic and Caucasian and previously riding the fence. I know where my vote is going now. I admire Richardson for his many accomplishments under the Clintons as Ambassador to the UN, and Secretary of Energy etc. If he can choose Obama even after he worked for the Clinton administration and even watched the Super Bowl with Bill in the privacy of his own home....well that speaks volumns. He truly believes that Obama is the right person America needs and so do I. Good Luck Obama you now have my vote! BTW.... All this hoopla about Wright is a witch hunt. It has NO PLACE in politics. Why hasn't the media been covering Pastor John Hagee (McCain endorsement) who almost weekly calls the Catholic church a whore? I'm Catholic and to me that is more offensive than what Wright said because it's my religion! All of these so called Pastors just need to stay out of politics. Also regarding Edwards... he's a devout Christian. Christians usually stick together. I don't think his convictions would be swayed toward Hillary because of that. Does she even go to church or is she an Atheist? I think he wants to support Obama but is torn because of the "blue collar white vote" in the South.
Now for OBAMA.

Look at all these comments. Can we not just set all of our differences aside for one moment in time and be one voice. Just look at all this foolish and pointless bickering. It is okay for us to disagree but we don't have to be disagreeable. We, the people have the power to ask for change, but only if we do it as one voice.

Obama 2008 -- Yes, WE CAN!!!

CCambell and others--I agree that the Wright thing is a witch hunt--otherwise, why are we not hearing more of his everyday Sunday sermons? If the American public were to truly judge his rhetoric, should'nt we be hearing more than two sermons discussed? It is so typical of the politics of now, here in the US, to take a single sermon, and repeat words from it over and over again out of context.
I've tried to look elsewhere for more of what Wright says, and found a bit: self help for his community, love of God, and value in personal and social struggles for justice and peace. While his 911 sermons are not typical, they are inflammatory, but honestly part of that is rhetoric (including audience) too--and maybe more than a small part of grief and fear and dire warning--to all America, black and white. Since Obama was not there that day, I'd bet that Obama and his family are generally (when they have the time to attend church) are getting a different message, about hope and struggle and shared experiences.
Regardless, his church preaches love and uplift, and I'd like to challenge all those out there who don't know the meaning of that word (uplift) to Af-Am communities, then try to do some research and find out, instead of leaping off the bridge with every other dittohead.
Part of Obama's appeal for me, and I'd bet other Americans, is his ability to listen to various sides--something I see even in debates. You don't gain wisdom by shouting down other people, and I think our country is worse off for the Bill OReillys, the Sean Hannitys, and the Ed Schultzes.
Simmer down people...we have a major choice to make. Investigate things for yourself, and read from a variety of sources. Listen as rarely as possible to the pundits, please.
So far, Obama has this middle-aged white woman's vote.

I think that Edwards refusal to endorse anyone speaks volumes for his statesmanlike qualities. Not picking sides in an us versus them situation but rather taking the stance that it is important that the party unites and moves forward. On paper, his bipartisan meassage of change and unity fall more in line with Obama. I say we cut the giy a little slack, the guys wife just beat breast cancer. Let him enjoy some down time outside of the fray.

How people can still support a racially divisive candidate such as Barack Obama is a total mystery to me. He has shown himself to be an outright liar on several occasions, first in his involvemnet with Tony Rezko and now in his denial of any knowledge of controversial remarks made by Rev. Wright to his confession that he has sat for 20 years in Wright's church with full knowledge of the hate-spewing, anti-American sentiment of the minister, who he acknowledges is his spritual advisor and mentor. To me it's unbeliveable that he could sit there and not challenge Wright. His deceit and lack of confrontation with Wright regarding Wright's extremist views, the fact that he actually gave Wright a position on his campaign, all brings up major questions and concerns about what he will do as president. His refusal to allow the revotes in Michigan and Florida may ultimately give him the Democratic election, but he will not be the legitimate nominee, and more importantly he has no chance of winning the general election. McCain has been enough of a maverick in the Republican party to garner votes from Democrats unhappy with the idea of an inexperienced and racially divisive Obama as the President. I, for one, am such a person, a Democrat who has waited for 8 long years to elect a Democrat to the Presidency. I will vote for John McCain if Barack Obama is the nominee. At least I know what I'm getting with John McCain. Obama is a political opportunist whose eloquent vision is clouded by arrogance, deceit and shenanigans and downright dirty politics. Those superdelegates who endorse him, will ultimately be tainted by his candidacy and unlikely presidency.

AN ADVISE FOR SEN. EDWARDS IF HE REALLY IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUTURE OF HIS PARTY.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
He states:
"""Edwards acknowledged the closeness of the Democratic primary race and that the important thing to do now IS UNITE THE PARTY"""
"""Edwards said he got out of the race because it was clear he wasn't winning, and believed that by getting out, either Sen. Hillary Clinton or Sen. Barack Obama WOULD PULL AHEAD"""
"""Senator Clinton has a toughness AND A TENACITY ...."""
THE FACTS ARE:
1) OBAMA has already pulled ahead
2) Only the TENACITY (better said RECKLESS OBSTINACY) of the Clintons maintains Hillary in the PARTY-DESTRUCTNG race
3) To UNITE THE PARTY (if it is already not too late) it is imperative to FINISH the RACE NOW !!!
And this could happen IF HE ENDORSES OBAMA, given his influence on the Blue COLLAR people in PENNSYLVANIA, INDIANA and WEST VIRGINIA and not to forget, MICHIGAN !!!

Obama is a divisive and polarizing figure...how can he possibly unite the democratic party much less the entire country? I believe that attending a church for 20 years where hate, racism, and anti-american messages are being preached will have an impact on all people that attend. Not all hispanics will flow to Obama. Many hispanics are catholic who are deeply offended by Rev. Wright and Obama's association to him.

One year ago I was leaning towards Edwards, but then I heard Obama speak at a rally. He won me over with his heart, sincereity, character, and convictions. This is a person I can follow. Edwards never really picked up a strong following, and now I can see that his vision is stunted. I have seen agressive and angry men & women at work that are just like Hillary - and I would not choose to associate with or work for them. Why should I give my vote to an "entitled" woman of priviledge? She needs anger management and could never be a role model for any child or adult. The racial divide in this country is frightening. Do we forget we took this land from Native Indians? I am praying for Obama to win, and that God may keep him safe from the harm of ignorant racists.
Posted by: Rosa | Mar 21, 2008 11:20:59 AM
So last night Edwards says he likes Obama's message and that he's bringing in new people to the process but Clinton has "toughness, tenacity and experience". Gee, who do you think he really supports here? Message or experience? Inspiration or tenacity and toughness? The buzz has always been that's how he felt about the two and that he was leaning Clinton. I don't think Richardson's endorsement will amount to anything unless Obama gets in the general election, but at least Richardson had the spine to get out there and endorse. Edwards just did
Obama's version of voting "present" and avoiding the political flak , like Edwards said at the debate to Obama that it's either "yea or nea" .
Posted by: alpaig | Mar 21, 2008 11:26:49 AM
Edwards is doing the right thing by sitting out. It is still 5 weeks to the PA primary. If he wanted to endorse Obama, this was the time.
But, IMHO he will endorse Clinton 2 weeks before the PA primary and that will be the deciding thing in this campaign because he will help Hillary win PA, NC and IN too.
Posted by: MattOhio | Mar 21, 2008 11:29:58 AM
Edwards is a self-serving lawyer who, by not boning-up and endorsing, showed a glaring lack of principles, and an appalling lack of integrity (Richardson likewise). These two have caused Dems to waste millions of dollars in divisive primaries. Edwards has successfully rendered himself irrelevant. That is why he was on Leno trying to wave his "passion for poverty" flag. What BS!
Posted by: Daveed | Mar 21, 2008 11:30:14 AM
I think John Edwards is John Edwards BIGGEST fan! He is so in to himself. The fact that he can not decide or want to decide who to endorse and is "torn" between them is evidence enough for me to show what a weak President he would have made. I bet he was negotiating a endorsement based entirely on which candidate with give him the VP spot. Probably neither candidate was eager to offer it to Edwards. This is probably the main reason he is "torn", and nutrual LMAO.
Posted by: Jim Kiricov | Mar 21, 2008 11:35:38 AM
Anyone who thinks Edwards will endorse Senator Clinton has just climbed out from under his/her rock. If Obama had a mandated healthcare plan, Edwards would have already endorsed him. Senator Clinton has taken the most money (of any candidate from either party) from federal lobbyists. The word "change" rings hollow with her. I feel confident that in meeting with both remaining candidates after he dropped out, Senator Edwards secured himself some role in either administration. And I think he has a lot to offer this country and would like to see him and his ideals in Washington. I think he would make a great Attorney General. Someone has to clean up the Guantanamo and domestic spying messes and someone has to implement a sensible immigration and enforcement policy.

Obama cannot with the general election with 41% of typical white voters. He is election box poison and only has his judgement to thank for that. Any typical white person can see that ;)

Before this campaign, I was an admirer of Mrs. Clinton, but she has not found admiration for either her style or her substance from me. Rather, I see a person who does not listen to anything other than her own rhetoric and who will twist anything she can to her advantage, rather than relying on actual vision and commitment. The "Wright" incidence has turned me to Obama. Listen to the sermon that is being found so offensive around the few words that are quoted. It is a plea for our constitution and for our country to be the best it can be. Whomever does not condemn this use of "politics" should be scratched from ANY consideration as a leader of our wonderful country and its potential.

Obama threw his Grandmother under the bus again yesterday. On the radio he said that her comments were as a"typical white person" Poor granny now she has tire tracks on both the front and back.
I think that now that the racial "cat is out of the bag" Obama will continue to show his own bigotry . John Edwards is smart to stay out of it. It's gonna get down and dirty and not because of anything Clinton has said. He will go down because of his own words and those of his hateful pastor. He keeps sticking up for the guy and finding fault with his own white grandmother. I'm sure that we will find out what his real motives are soon. Richardson just threw the hispanics under the bus so I guess that they will make a great team.

I once was trying to date this girl, but she kept putting me off. She wasn't dating anyone else at the time, but just playing hard to get. Guess what, I moved on and married a wonderful lady and...you guessed it, the hard to get girl can't get. Wake up Edwards!

Maybe obama and his minister have done something wrong and either one can not say anything bad about the other something is going on. If he is the nominee I hope the republicans tear obama apart

Richardson will not influence the latino vote. If anything, his endorsment will be seen as a betrayal of latinos, because the latino vote has been overwhelmingly in support of Hillary. Richardson must have been promised something very big. Too bad that Obama is not going to win and will not be able to deliver. Obama is too inexperienced to be President. He has shown a tremendous lack of judgment in his relationships with REZKO and Rev. Wright. When there is no political record to look at, you have to look at this relationships. Hillary has the experience, the knowledge and the strength of character to be my president. Hillary 08!!!

I am a "typical white grandmother" of a bi-racial grandson, I believe what Obama said here was the exact same thing that Ferrarro said to that obscure little newspaper right before Obama's campaign branded her a racist.
I am a lifelong Democrat. I have been watching the "conversation" that Obama has demanded of America. I just can't get around the fact that he chose not to indulge in theis conversation for 20 years in his own church.
Obama has no room to talk. His "character gap" is wider than anything I have ever seen. I will not be sold this candidate regardless of the media deluge and Richardson's endorsement.
The "inspiration" has faded. The "change" has been identified. I for one am not afraid to vote against this perverted brand of "politics of hope"

Either candidate will not gain much from a John Edwards endorsement.
In fact, the candidate who gets the Edwards nod could end up losing.
John Edwards still carries the stigma of being on the losing Kerry/Edwards ticket.
Someone who couldn't get past Dubya will not provide much for either campaign.

J Kangas, I can tell you are a person of high intelligence. It is refreshing.
In this great country none of us should lack intelligence, even if we are poor.
I am old enough to know unless you have had to struggle to make a living, you don't know what it's like. You point is clear. Thank you so much! You just helped me realize what a mistake I was about to make. Obama has my vote.

I am not so much against one candidate or the other as I am against living through another term with a republican as president. I therefore appeal to all supporters / sympathisizers of democratic policies, please shun the infighting. Let's take aim at the republican machinery overseen by McCain.

Just to Comment on that Dc Voter Hillary is not the only candidate who has done anything for the hispanic community. You seem to forget that Obama Was a civil rights Lawyer for many years even before politics taking on cases, for ,gay, hispanic and other minority citizens If Immigration is the only concern then Hillary could be said to have done more, which still doesnt suggest that Obama cannot do better.

As a registered democrat I for one am going to vote for whoever gets the democratic nomination.I don't care who endorses who.
To me this about change what ever it may be. Just as long as it does not involve the gop attitude about how I should think and act.
I read things in this forum such as Edwards should get off his but and decide, or Obama offended me so I'm going to vote for McCain,or Hillary is to much of a politition. The one thing I haven't read is no one is perfect and we all make mistakes. This does'nt seem to come into anyones mind when they are attacking or supporting someone.
Edwards will decide when he decides himself when it is time or maybe never,
Hillary is a politition but she is so much more, and Obama is new and refreshing to the age old politcal game
but that does'nt mean he has no experiance to lead. Believe all the hipe you want just vote democrat in November because I may be wrong but I think this is the change we need.
One of my favorite songs is (GET OVER IT) By The Eagles, ( the big bad world does'nt owe you a thing GET OVER IT)

I love how people assume that just because someone is supporting a specific canidiate, they are a Dem. Well, "john", I'm a Independent, so your "party unity" BS does not matter to me, I can vote GOP, DNC, Green or Constitution in 08 and it won't be "crossing party lines". I refuse to join a Democratic party that disenfranchises the voters of Michigan and Florida and has a biased Donna Brazile as the head of a rules committee.

I think Sen Edwards is being smart. He knows that this Wright fiasco has killed any chance that Obama might have had in winning the General Election. This Wright fiasco thing is just the begining, Wait till more damaging stuff comes out about Obama. There is a reason why some employees were caught snooping in Obama's passport files, I think they looked into McCain and Hillary's files just to cover up, so that it doesn't become obvious. This is going to get much dirtier as November comes closer.

Sorry that I seemed to pick you out of the crowd zc. And you assumed I thought you to be a democrat, that did'nt even cross my mind.
Have you ever heard the saying about assume. It makes an --- out of you and me. My point is don't take all this so seriously and make up your own mind.I read these postings because they are interesting to me and yours must have stuck in my mind.I'm sure now I will be talking about your comments to my friends at the resturant.
Again GET OVER IT. Obama did not personaly attack you and niether did I.
Cast your vote for McCain I don't care. You are dissmissed!

Hey, I have an idea, let's all superimpose our views on Edwards and assume his actions up to this point have been driven by those very same views we obviously share with him! Hope you didn't start without me!

Everyone likes the inspiring speech, you will hear that every week at church. We need someone to lead the country in White House not the church.
Will be glad to see Edwards endorse Clinton. Similar values. Go Clinton!
Posted by: DDem | Mar 21, 2008 4:38:22 PM
So Richardson's endorsement equates to Hispanics switching loyalties? That's like saying the Kennedy's endorsement would change my mind. Well, it may come as a surprise but many of us make up our own mind and I voted for Clinton. But then I did base it on the issues not the koolaid speeches. And am I glad in light of the recent faux pas of Obama's racist pastor.
Posted by: Sam | Mar 21, 2008 4:52:51 PM
I THINK IN THE LONG RUN EDWARDS WILL ENDORSE CLINTON. WHO SEEMS TO REALLY LIKE HIM UNLIKE ARROGANT OBAMA WHO SEEMS TO THINK THE WHITE FOLK OWE HIM SOMETHING. WE ARE JUST TYPICAL WHITE FOLK!

We think that one American is being UNFAIRLY made to carry the entire cross of America's centuries of racism, WHICH IS NOT OF HIS MAKING!
We also think that many many white men have ran for the Presidency of the US.
AND NONE OF THEM HAVE EVER BEEN ASKED TO BEAR THE ENTIRE BURDEN OF AMERICA'S CENTURIES OF RACISM OR EVEN A WEE BIT OF IT!
And guess who created racism in America?
President Barack Obama is doing MORE THAN his share to help heal America towards a more perfect union.
And a lot of lazy Americans, instead of pitching in, they waste time with divisiveness and the criticize a good, principled and decent human being!

[QUOTE]Looks like Obama has his Veep with Richerdson... Edwards can only hope for Hillary. Since HRC is in the dumps right now, she may want to pre-pick Edwards as her Veep, even before PennPrimary. That is if he'll have her.

There's still Attorney General or Supreme Court nominee.... :-)

The hispanic vote will not follow Obama/Richardson. What gave you that idea? If anything Hispanics feel very betrayed by Gov. Richardson. At least the African-American group stick together what is it now? 9-1 and they are not racist at all. Por favor!

I have a hard time believing that so many people want to put Obama in the White House. I realize that the news media has a large role in this, just as they did when they wanted Bush. Well that never worked out too good so they need to think about what they are doing. The SNL skit was an eye opener for them but they still don't seem to go after him the way they do the other candidates.
Obama has no experience and as you can see that is exactly what we have had for the last 7 years, is a person with no experience. Bush's whole thought was wanting to show everyone including his father what he could do. Well he has cost us many lives and so much money it's hard to count and we are no safer now than we ever were. We are just poorer, paying over $3.00 a gallon for gasoline, and sad because we have lost so many poor souls to this useless war.
Obama has listened to his pastor for 20 years and never stood up for anyone against him. He voted present so later he could say he didn't vote the unpopular vote. He may have been against the war at the beginning and gave a speech but what else did he do? Nothing!! I personally never even heard anything about him before he started running for president. If he was doing so much for people don't you think it would have been note worthy and we would have heard about it from the news media?
Obama does give a good speech even though sometimes it sounds more like a sermon. He may say he wants to be a uniter but by not talking to his pastor and letting him know what he was preaching was against his feelings he is not a uniter just another person that thinks he is better than the rest of us. He wants to use race when he needs to and talk against it when he feels he has to.
At least with Hillary you know what you are getting. I believe she will stand up against the other countries when they try to harm us, she will get our sons and daughters home, she will get health care for everyone, and turn the economy around. It may take some time but getting us in this mess didn't happen overnite so we can't expect her to fix it overnite either.
I believe with all my heart if anyone can fix the mistakes of the last 7 years she is the only person running for president that can and I truly believe she will.

I don't know how Mr. Speech can unite our country. Most Latinos don't like him and major Asian Americans don't like him and many whites don't like him.
Hi is a divider. "NO-Obama"

It makes no difference who Edwards endorses. He is a good man, intelligent and would make a terrific Attorney General and eventually on the Supreme court. I think Hillary can do that for him. Obama, I would not trust. As President , I would hate to see Rev. Wright in the White House as spiritual advisor to Obama. I also would hate to see him officiate at the swearing ceremony.

Vote all you want. Super delegates will put Clinton in, McCain will win president. Only real question is how are the black folks gonna react after Hillary is nominated. There will be claims of theft.
I say Colin Powell!
Posted by: jerry | Mar 21, 2008 10:04:06 PM
does anyone of you really believe that there is any material difference between these candidates? neither of them has run any organization other than their own senate office. neither has experience. there are two issues at stake here; a) which of them can beat McCain and b)which has better decision making skills.
obama is probably the better clutch decision maker and hillary isn't running for president to listen to her husband who by far is better than either.
as far as electability goes, the answer lies in who is convincing people to listen to their message. the middle of the country may move left for obama, they will clearly move to the right and mccain if hillary runs. take your pick, obama or mccain, those are the only real options here regardless of who "you like".

I think Edwards' style of governance is more similar to Obama than Hillary, and that he would have more freedom and support to pursue his causes in an Obama administration.
Though I'd like to see an endorsement sooner than later, ultimately Edwards would have the biggest impact by waiting till the week before the Pennsylvania primary when a lot of people (who aren't political junkies like us) start paying attention.

A question to the Hillary fanatics:
WHY DO YOU THINK THAT RICHARDSON, IN SPITE OF HIS FRIENDSHIP AND OFTEN STATED PREFERENCE FOR HILLARY, HAS FINALLT ENDORSED ACRIVELY OBAMA ??
We all know that he is pursuing a leading position in a eventual Democratic adminsitration, and as he
is realistic, he knows that the chances
of Hillary are minimal to be nominated, and even if she is, she will be easy pasture for McCAIN, therefore he was not any more interested in promises by Hillary.
EDWARDS COULD PROVIDE THE LAST PUSH TO
GET HILLARY OUT, WITHOUT FURTHER DELAY, OF HER PARTY DESTRUCTIVE STRATEGY TO TRY TO AVOID THE THE UNAVOIDABLE !!
He would so earn the gratitude of the Party !

Edwards will not support Obama, other than the CHANGE slogan they don't have much in common. Obama was sold to the Chicago and Illinois machine before and now even more since the whole machine allied with the Barons in Washington and big corporations launched his campaign, his strategy guy Axelrod snubbed Edwards all along, and as Edwards said Obama is "inspirational and bring the young people out" but so is "American Idol, Hannah Montana, and even Jesse Jackson" ha ha.
Btw, where is Jesse Jackson and Sharpton? They are mute in the controversy or Obama have them both hidden in the closet until the storm is over!!
Finally, I supported Edwards and I will never vote for Obama. No way!
