Mitt Romney to Fundraise With John McCain

ABC News' Bret Hovell reports: Sen. John McCain will be joined on the campaign trail by a sometimes contentious former rival Thursday for a fundraising swing through the mountain west.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, the onetime Republican presidential candidate, will join McCain to raise money in Salt Lake City and Denver.

Romney will meet McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, in Utah, and travel with him aboard his campaign plane to Denver.

The race between Romney and McCain was heated throughout the primary process, as the two battled for the Republican nomination. Romney dropped out of the race at the beginning of February, two days after the Super Tuesday primary, in which McCain pulled ahead of the field. Romney endorsed McCain one week later, on Valentine’s Day.

"Governor Romney is a very important leader in the Republican party," said Steve Schmidt, a senior advisor to McCain’s campaign. "Sen. McCain is thrilled that he’s going to be joining him on the campaign trail today."

McCain is in the early stages of a process to pick his vice presidential nominee. Romney, with his passionate supporters and deep pockets, is widely believed to be under consideration for that role.

No big surprise here. Everyone knows McCain will be told to choose a younger conservative as his running mate. McCain made it clear that Romney has earned a significant place in the party.

McCain is a Bush clone he loves war and hopes he can keep the Iraq war going for 100 years...He is a war monger just like Bush, there is not a nickels diffence between them. The old coot needs to be out to pasture with Bush and his war buddy Cheney..A vote for McCain is a vote to kill another 5000 U.S.soldiers..He just does not get it..

McCain's emphasized he's not doing things AT ALL like Bush, au contraire he's going to do them RIGHT. BUT he won't raise taxes above Bush's, unlike Obama: Be prepared for massive taxation with Obama. On a $30K salary, you will pay $3,900 more per year with Obama than McCain, and Obama's looking to impose Federal Real Estate Taxes on houses over 2,400sf, 28% capital gains, 39.6% dividend tax, reimposing the estate tax, raising corporate taxes which will raise costs for ALL Americans. Obama plans 1.13Trillion in global give-aways. Watch out, or put your money where your mouth is, if you're for Obama.

If we abandon Iraq, we invide WWIII. al Qaeda, Hamas, Iran will rejoice in victory and say "Israel is next! We defeated the great Satan!" Israel has nukes, it will defend itself, Russia, China, the US will ALL be pulled in. The risk is too great. This generation has NO idea what real war is like. Stability is the only way to go, and the US is the only force that can implement it. Besides, Obama HIMSELF has acknowledged there will be genocide if Iraq is abandoned: I wonder if he doesn't care about that inasmuch as he's vowed not to help in Darfur, and then I wonder why he preemptively guaranteed not to help in Darfur (Christian extermination which Qadafi is behind as part of the Islamic Axis and Islamic USAfrica movement).

It would appear those who risk WWIII by abandoning Iraq really LOVE REAL WAR. The really lethal kind.

I said I'd never vote for McCain but if he picks Mitt Romney I will. I would rather see Romney run as an Independent and I'd do my best to see him elected.
