Obama Talks about Loss of Volunteer in Omaha Shooting
March 02, 2008 7:01 AM
ABC News' Sunlen Miller Reports: While answering a question at a Parma, Ohio town hall meeting on gun control, Sen. Barack Obama said that one of his volunteers for his campaign in Iowa had been killed in the Omaha mall shootings on December 6th of 2007.
"I had one of my top volunteers in Iowa, was one of the people that was killed in the mall in Nebraska. He was about to get on the elevator with this wife when the young, deranged man shot him in the head and he was killed."
John McDonald was the 65 year old retired volunteer who was killed. He was a precinct captain in Council Bluffs for Obama’s campaign and described as a star volunteer. Obama has not made mention of his connection to the victim in a public setting before.
Obama did not attend any memorial services for him, as the two never met, but wrote letters to people affected by his death.
Last Sunday, Barack Obama attended the memorial service for another shooting close to home at the Northern Illinois University. While Obama did not know anyone personally there either, he and Senator Durbin went on behalf of their Illinois constituents.
Obama told the audience in Parma that, "you can respect conditions of gun ownership while still saying that we’ve got to have some common sense gun laws in place that can help reduce violence." He sighted the need for better background checks, the closing of gun show loopholes, and the need to pass legislation that allows agencies to share tracing information on guns used in crimes.

Obama is a man of honor and compassion. He also undestands the Constitution as he was a Constitutional Law professor at Univ of Chicago Law School for 10 years. He understands that there needs to be a balance between the right to bear arms and the necessity of keeping people safe from those who will do harm.

Obama really knows the constitution. After some reasearch, I discovered that the US flag cannot be used in vain it shoild not be worn as a lapel pin unless you are a millitary, fireman, etc.
Where do you wear a flag lapel pin?

America is a great country, a global leader.
The world is hungry ,for long time, to see an American leader who can be honored as great global hero. Obama is a gift of God for America. So protect him.

Gift from God? Yeah, right! And the next thing he'll be doing is performing miracles? You people are delusional.

Oh, and when has God picked the reach and powerful to do his work for him? If I remember correctly, he chooses the meek, humble, and poor as his true instruments. Obama has not an ounce of humility in his blood. His arrogance can be seen in his eyes. What he truly is is a typical politician lusting for power and greed, utilizing his oratory skills to pray on the week minded.

Obama: Remember I wrote a book about HOPE and CHANGE ...
Middle Class American: Really? That's funny .. I was just "hoping" I'd have more "change" in my pocket - since you became President I have nothing. I do appreciate the 5 hr at the doctors office though - that healthcare deal kicks some b*tt!

I wonder why Obama is bring this up now? Trying to gain some sympathy votes? Didn't Hillary stop campaigning and pay respects to the family of the fallen motorcycle cop? I guess Obama was too busy promoting his self interests to be bothered. Which candidate talked and which took action? Which candidate showed compassion? I guess it's hard to focus on the little people what with the light of God shining down on you.....

Obama's America will be a beacon of light in a troubled world.
It's a almost scary idea; we will be more powerful than ever. We will be the leading and guiding country again after years of failing government.
Posted by: Freda | Mar 2, 2008 12:38:22 PM
Freda, with all due respect, this is the kind of arrogance that the world does not need from America. Perhaps we aught to get our own house in order before we save the world who seem to be doing quit well without us. Politra, NO, Obama is no gift from God. I was at church today and each week prior to today and was not informed that God, or Mohammad for that matter, had given Obama as a gift to the Obamabots. Perhaps you could share the memo I missed.

Which is it, for gun control or against it? Always ambiguous. He's just a blankety-blank screen isn't he.

So Sandra you're a veteran right? So how is it that you don't even know that Obama was never opposed to the war in Iraq. He gave a speech at an anti-war rally for political reasons because that's what you do at anti-war rallies. You can't be opposed to something unless you actually vote and take a position on something which he has failed to do in the IL senate over 100+ times. It's a ploy by Obama and he makes it seem like he voted No to the war in the US senate. He said he doesn't even know how he'd voted when asked in 04 when he finally got to the senate. If America chooses this guy, then America desrves to be in the position it's in, and that's a spiral downwards and the end of the empire. I guess history really does repeat itself, like the fall of the Egyptian, Roman, British, and now US empire.

From the start Obama said no to the war in Irak. He also said no to carte blanche against Iran. That's JUGDEMENT. Where did Hillary's experience get her? You tell me. Wake up!!!

Lots of Hillary campaign staff working overtime driving up the comments in blogosphere since they can't comment much on the votes Hillary's losing.
