Whistle Stop Clinton
March 28, 2008 4:36 PM
ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf Reports: When former President Clinton arrived at the train station in Salisbury, North Carolina, it was reminiscent of a whistle-stop campaign rally of yore.
Mr. Clinton arrived in latter day whistle stop fashion, with a train of SUVs and a police escort. He spoke outside in the sun in front of the station with an American flag behind him.
The train station is the perfect spot for a campaign rally, restored, as it is, to its 1920s glory with gray brick and a red tile roof.
It's featured extensively in the upcoming George Clooney period football movie "Leatherheads" and anchors the downtown here.
But for its architectural beauty, the train station is still located next to the train tracks. And Mr. Clinton, famously late, cannot be counted on, like trains, to run on schedule.
He was an hour late for the event and an hour into his speech, segueing from an indictment of the way President Bush handled the Hurricane Katrina disaster to an impassioned plea with the several hundred Salisburians gathered about why his wife is the right candidate for president when the train whistles started in the distance.
But the train, unlike automobile traffic in small towns when the former President comes to town, did not stop. The din of the locomotive drowned out the former President out for a minute as it passed by thirty feet from his podium, though he barely budged from his speech.
He could, however, be heard to say, "Must be a Republican train."

Is Political Radar the Bill Clinton Corner on the Internet?
How cozy.

It's funny that a Bill Clinton Whistle Stop is more newsworthy than the Casey endorsement of Obama.

Yes, Bill Clinton's Whistle Stop is more newsworthy than the Casey endorsement. It's certainly more eventful, meaningful, and laudable. Don't let the whistles stop you, Bill!!

Speaking of Casey. He had said he would not endorse anyone until April 22. What or who changed his mind? They are worried about Hillary's chances in Pennsylvania? Come on Pennsylvania. You have a wise and great Governor. He recognizes intelligence and experience when he sees it. If Leahy and others had their way, Pennsylvanians would not have a say in this primary. Pennsylvanians know quality and hard work. Hillary is the one!

Liberals are so intellectually dishonest (but right wingers are still the champs in this area). But to try and convince anyone that Obama doesn't get special behavior towards, is insulting. That's why I was shocked to here one of the leading newsman in America, Brian Williams, say on The Letterman show, that Barack Obama should be givin preferential treatment in reguards to the super delegate rule. Of course the super delegate rule was instated for just this type of improbable circumstance. But Mr. Willaims thinks it would be terrible if the first viable black presidential candidate lose by such a procedure. Rules or no rules. But a white candidate couldn't expect to avoid the rule. On what grounds. Rules are rules. Obama people think they're playing fair. But what they're playing is the race card.

I refuse to believe that the Obama campaign plays fair when it comes to these primaries. A lot of negative backlash is being projected against the lady candidate and I am thinking WHY? Surely, if what is being claimed by the Obama group of drum beaters that their idol is way way ahead of the former first lady, what are they afraid of? They can just sit on their comfortable chairs and watch the world revolve around them...smug and cocky and so sure! But the truth is, as I continuously follow the daily developments in the political news, the soon-to-be Madam President will overhaul Mr.Wonderful's precarious lead (probably after PA). Guys, you are doing too much damage control that it oozes out of your collective ears. PLAY FAIR, that's the mark of an honest politician. At least Mrs. Clinton has shown here dignity and finesse time and time again.

My main concern is having to vote for a guy who has tolerated his family to sit, absurb and listen to the rantings of the biggest bigot and hypocrite of all...Jeremiah Wright! While it is true that as Mrs. Clinton stated lately that we can choose the church we go to, having an American hating pastor who curses America while foaming in the mouth is not my ideal for a spiritual adviser and friend. If Wright is so against this wonderful nation, why doesn't he just pack up and go. Nobody needs his venom here. This is one of the reasons why I won't vote for Mr. Obama. I am truly convinced that most of the poison that Wright have spawned among his congregation has rubbed off into the gentleman wishing to become the highest leader of America.

Why would any team stop a playoff game in the 3rd quarter if they were down by ten points?
I believe there are 4 quarters in a football game. Play until the clock runs out.
Hillary is not a quiter and she will fight until the very end.
If Obama is so confident that he is going to win, then he should stop telling Hillary to drop out.
Winners fight until the end and losers quit.
OK Obama, quit.
GO HILLARY, show them what you're made off.

Can you people please just vote for the Clintons and not to ask any more questions? I love them and have posted like crazy. Can't you guys see my hair is all gray and voice is all horsey? Seniors need health care that you younger people pay for. Hillary can get me an extra $300/mo to spend at Casinos, can't you guys help and vote for her to pay for me?

I think the American people need to find out what's going on. Why are they trying so hard to make Hillary quit? Something smells real fishy and I think it's a carp. I don't think it's bothering the American public anything like it is our Governors, Senators and Obama cult.

Bill Clinton Whistle Stop is more newsworthy than any of the endorsements of Obama.
Obama cannot be trusted. He has told too many lies.

Wasn't a Republican Train, was the Hillary Express heading to victory, against all odds, the media, and a bunch of turncoat Senators that should be run out of office. Hillary '08

Republican train, pretty funny. Keep on chugging, Bill and Hillary. It's not over till the last stop!

When I read posts that say "Obama cant be trusted, he has told too many lies". I wonder, what are these people smoking? The CLintons have spent hours on the witness stand, lying or reciting "I dont recall" or something similar, on many numerous occassions for several offenses! Former President Clinton has been DISBARRED & IMPEACHED, the United States President ever to disgrace us with such an honor! Both Clintons have been fined for campaign fraud or reporting regulations. Both will be going to trail again in November in the Peter Paul case. And Hillary just lied this week with the Bosnia "sniper fire". Please....
What has Obama lied about? Rev Wright.Nope He said he was not in the church when he said DAMN AMERICA, or Hillary statement.- but YES has heard contraversial statements.
Nafta? No Hillarys spin, and Obama DID NOT SPEAK to anyone. Bill and Hillarys lies were their OWN...not a supporters or advisors words.
Professor of Law...the Chicago college today has release statement on CNN saying YES...he was a professor there.
Renko...Obama stated how much money he got from Renko for presidential run donation....FAILED to state what he got for prior years in Il. Senate.
NOTE: CLINTONS HAVE NOT YET RELEASED TAXES, EARMARKS, DONORS LIST, FOUNDATION LIST, LIBRARY LIST
??????? how can we even judge?
who calling who what?
Obama is far more transparent guy and gal... far more, you have to see that.

what is fishy about? It is the left wing group of the democrats , the like of Dean, kerry, Kennyday and some big bosses of the conglomerate CNN, CBS, and MNBC who cooked up the idea of an Obama Presidency. Obama is a perfect dummy, jusdging from hsi lectures on race, his weak stand about patriotism, his mountain of lies ( indicative of pliant, submissive, and docile obedience from his advisers) and his inexperience factor. He is wise in the business of Chicago politics but not wise to be firm and independent. The perfect guy is around and the"group" can now have a heyday in the white House. While if Hillary wins, this group will be met by a big NO by Hillary. Everything, tooth and nail , this group must fight to have Obama win the nomination.

No other male candidate has been told Quit in the middle of a campaign. Why Hillary? this is --xual harrassement.
setting precedent a woman cannot and will not stand a prayer in our society as it is today. History pages will be marred with this.
Our little girls would want to know someday why a woman's application is denied to her if she is even more qualified than her male counterpart.
If the glove fit why quit?

Maybe they should write an article about this man's Dedication to this Cause. Four years ago he was Physically Weak. If we need an end to anything, we need an end to the Clinton-Bashing.
Posted by: TOM | Mar 29, 2008 8:46:25 AM
Yes Hillary dont quit we want you to out source our jobs more
So it’s ok for her to screw over the American workers, as long as she calls for more job training. Of course she never mentions anything about how that job training will come about. Besides what’s the point of training for a job that should be well paying, when an Indian is willing to do the same job for $2 an hour. The people doing the job training might as well be learning to say “Would you like Fries with that” The NAFTA deal was the worst thing Bill Clinton did as President and it needs to end.
