Bill Clinton: Obama Played Race Card On Me
April 22, 2008 12:20 PM
ABC News' Rick Klein Reports: Bill Clinton accused Barack Obama's campaign of "playing the race card on me" and told a Philadelphia radio station that the Obama campaign took his Jesse Jackson comment and "twisted it for political purposes."
And as the interview concluded, Clinton turned to an associate and said, "I don't think I should take any s--t from anybody on that, do you?"
Making a campaign stop and enjoying another interrupted breakfast at Pamela's P&G Diner Tuesday morning in downtown Pittsburgh, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was asked to respond to Clinton.
The Democratic nomination frontrunner seemed confused by the comments.
"So, former President Clinton dismissed my victory in South Carolina as being similar to Jesse Jackson and he is suggesting that somehow I had something to do with it," Obama said laughing, "Ok, well, you better ask him what he meant by that. I have no idea what he meant. These are words that came out of his mouth, not out of mine."
Watch the VIDEO HERE.
And at President Clinton's first polling stop in Pittsburgh, he too appeared unwilling to discuss the incident.
"No, no, no, that's not what I said," Clinton told a reporter who asked about the radio comments, "You always follow me around and play these little games. And I am not going to play your games today. This is a day about election day, go back and see what the question was and what my answer was. You have mischaracterized it just to get a another cheap story to divert the American people from the real urgent issues before us, and I choose not to play your game today."
Watch the
VIDEO HERE.
Clinton was talking to station WHYY about the fallout over his comparison of Obama's South Carolina primary victory with the support of black Democrats to Jesse Jackson's primary wins. Those comments were portrayed by critics as an attempt to highlight Obama's race.
The former president fumed on Monday that it was Obama's campaign that injected the race issue.
"I think that they played the race card on me. And we now know, from memos from the campaign and everything that they planned to do it all along," Bill Clinton said in a telephone interview with WHYY's Susan Phillips. "I was stating a fact, and it's still a fact."
The former president says the comment was "used out of context and twisted for political purposes by the Obama camapign."
Clinton goes on to say that "you have to really go some place to play the race card on me." He lists a number of his accomplishments on behalf of African Americans, inexplicably putting the fact that he has "an office in Harlem" at the top of the list.
Clinton's outburst began when Phillips asked the President how he feels about one Philadelphia official who says she switched her support after interpreting Clinton's remarks in South Carolina as an attempt to marginalize Obama as "the black candidate."
Clearly, Clinton seems frustrated by the question or the suggestion by anyone - either the reporter or the Philadelphia official whom she quoted - that he was somehow making a negative statement about Obama (or Jesse Jackson) based on their race.
His frustration comes through towards the end of the recording when, apparently unaware that he was still on the line, Clinton asks whoever is with him, "I don't think I should take any s--t from anybody on that, do you?"

lmao whinning about that Bill Clinton. how does it feel to have a lable like that. Then to end off being a hothead like McCain shows your true colors just like cai

Bill is absolutly correct. Blacks are voting for Obama more for his color than anything else..
Bill's comment is far less offensive than the "Typical White Person" comment by OBAMA and the white thrashing that happens every sunday in Obama's church and many such churches across the country.

I hope the press keeps on interviewing Bill because everytime he opens his mouth, Obama get another vote.
Posted by: JENNY | Apr 22, 2008 8:03:48 AM
JAKE -- you broke that Jesse story - but you never gave the complete tape. All we had was Bill's comment about Jesse. WE do not have the question or series of questions that led to it. I agree that this is unfair. Context matters. Even Jesse Jackson said this - that he fears the statements are being taken out of context. DOES ANYONE HAVE THE FULL INTERVIEW???
Posted by: tony | Apr 22, 2008 8:07:08 AM
DOES ANYONE HAVE THE FULL INTERVIEW? TIRED OF JUST HEARING THAT ONE ANSWER - WHICH SEEMS CUT OFF.
Posted by: tony | Apr 22, 2008 8:09:06 AM
Bill doesn't keep bringing it, he keeps being asked the question...If he says,"we've moved pass that", it looks like he's dodging the question, if he answers, he keeps the fire smoldering...It's like a catch 22..

I really can't wait until this thing is over and we don't have to listen to the whining Clintons anymore! They've become incredibly annoying.
Posted by: dgfiit | Apr 22, 2008 8:10:28 AM
Bill,
The South Carolina primary was MONTHS AGO. Stop whining about that. That is OVER.
Move on and concentrate on winning the rest of the primaries.

the only problem I see with this is Rick Klein calling President Clinton's remarks an "outburst". He sounds perfectly calm and reasoned to me. Why do you all try to out FOX each other and make controversy where none exists?
Posted by: NewHampster | Apr 22, 2008 8:19:33 AM
If you don't want to get dirty, don't put your uniform on ...
If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen.
Same old Clinton passive/aggressive tactics ...
In the words of Al Gore, "It's time for them to go."
Posted by: jeb jackson | Apr 22, 2008 8:20:31 AM
That's right Jeb.
Time for both of the mudslinging candidates to go.
Interesting that you should quote the man who can win the White House.
But, they won't. These two will fight all the way to the convention in August.
And, Al Gore, the only truly qualified candidate with any respect, will be nominated.
Remember 1968...

Obama has been playing the race card from the very beginning. If anyone calls his hand on it, or anything else that he says for that matter, he whines and cries foul. Remember the last debate when he stated that it was 45 minutes before a question was asked about the issues? Sorry Obama, but your associates and your past remarks, have a great impact on how you plan to handle the issues. I am a lifelong Democrat who will vote for McCain if Obama is the party's nominee.
Posted by: savethemiddleclass | Apr 22, 2008 8:26:10 AM
It is true that Obama played the race card first as part of his Rovian tactic to hit his opponent on his strengths. There is a four page memo sent by Obama's campaign to the press with talking points for the media in how to paint the Clintons as racists. The media has done a poor job in exposing the racist element in Obama's campaign.

This adds insult to injury.
He DID do it. And now, to BLAME Obama??
I think the Clintons have lost it.
Posted by: cheryl | Apr 22, 2008 8:32:21 AM
OMG! Is anyone paying attention to the Clintons! Bill is pushing so hard for this because it will be his 3rd term, not Hillary's. No one has said the obvious so I will, anyone supporting her is doing it so that Bill can be president one more time. I agree with one writer, we are seeing their true colors now. All this time they profess to be for the minorities in this country, that is until a minority runs against Hillary, then they both put back on their "hoods" and the real Clintons came out. I'm stunned at the tactics they have used, its like a mother eating her own cubs, the Democratic party is ruined and and they are soley to blame. I'm a lifelong Democrat who will NOT vote for Hillary, if she is the nominee, McCain gets my vote, at least we know what he's about.
Posted by: Belinda | Apr 22, 2008 8:36:12 AM
Obama has been playing the race card all along...His its time for a change speeches are aimed at African Americans to get them on his side to vote for him. Obama is a joke, if he happens to hold on and win the nomination for democratic candidate, my vote will go over to Mccain. No way do i want that joke Obama to be my leader.

I MUST SAY THIS BILL CLINTON IS RIGHT.I AM A BLACK PERSON BUT WHEN YOU START SAYING BILL CLINTON IS RACES THEN YOU REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHO AND WHAT RACES IS YOU ARE KIDDING ME. THE LAST PERSON WHO YOU CALL A RACES IS BILL HE HAD DONE SO MUCH FOR THE BLACK PEOPLE.PEOPLE WAS FALLING FOR THIS TRICK THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN USED HE IS PLAYING THE VICTIM . THE BLACK AMERCIAN VOTES FOR OBAMA BECAUSE HE IS BLACK NOT BECAUSE OF THAT TWISTED REMARK.THEY VOTE FOR HIM BECAUSE HE IS A SYMBOL FOR THE AFRICAN AMRICAN PEOPLE AND NOW THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO MAKE HISTORY NOT BECAUSE OF BILL CLINTON REMARKS.I MUST SAY IT REALLY SAD FOR SOME OF US BLACK PEOPLE BECAUSE IT IS TRUE WHEN A WHITE PERSON DISAGREED OR NOT FRIENDLY OR WHAT EVER REASON THEY WILL BE ACCUSE OF BEING RACES OR THEY DO NOT LIKE BLACK.I AM NOT SAYING THERE IS NOT RACES OUT THERE. AND IT NOT ONLY HAPPING HERE BUT ALL OVER THE WORLD. OBAMA IS USING THE SAME TRICKS . YOU SEE THAT OFTEN THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN IS USING THE RACE

Again, here is where the media does not provide all the truth. Senator Obama supporters and campaigners may have jump on these comments but after average voters made comments first, highlighted by the media airing and posting them. What a farce! This is so ridiculous. The media is to blame for a lot of mis-information put out there. Understand, they are racheting up their ratings.

Bill - I feel your pain.
Posted by: Mark | Apr 22, 2008 8:38:31 AM
WAY TO GO BILL! For anybody to accuse either of the Clintons of being racist is just plain crazy. He made a truthful statement that was twisted into something that it wasn't. I personally feel that Obama and his wife and his "spiritual mentor" are the biggest racist in the country.
Posted by: Judy | Apr 22, 2008 8:38:46 AM
I think it's absolutely hysterical that all of keep taking Obama's side. Obama is not right. He is not trying to make this country better. He has another agenda. GET A CLUE!!!!!
Posted by: Nikki | Apr 22, 2008 8:41:35 AM
Not a problem with what he is saying,
and he should be worried that the press and Obama will twist everything he says about race. The press once again trying to make this into something it is not.
He has every reason to be frustrated with the press and Obamas campaign.
Obama does play, has played, and will continue to play the race card.
Here's a number for Chris Matthews who clearly supports Obama with bias reporting: 90% that is percentage of black vote Obama has gotten. Let's not pretend there is not a race issue going on here. Clintons have a track record as good or better then any other politicians especially Obama, but where does the black vote go? Obamas racial attacks don't have anything to do with that?
Wait, Obama doesn't campaing that way right? He's different then any other politician. Give me a break.
Same old politics. He will do and say anything to win.

Hillary Voters are Secret "Bill for a 3rd term" voters. Come on guys, what experience does she "really" have? The media won't say it so I will, if Hillary was not married to Bill, she never would have made it this far, any credibility she had when she started was only because he was president before and her husband. The wool has been pulled over many eyes. Don't believe the hype, a vote for Hillary is a vote for Bill in the Oval Office again.
Posted by: B | Apr 22, 2008 8:43:17 AM
Appyarently, people have not moved on from this issue is reporters are still revisiting the question. President Clinton has a right to be upset about it because there has been nothing to warrant such an accusation. This is precisely why issue on race cannot progress because everytime it is mention by someone white, someone black pulls the race card. The truth is President Clinton has advance more issues for black people than Obama has. I did not get upset when he said then and I am not upset now because what he said is obviously true.

I wish i could vote for Bill for a 3rd term..The economy was doing so much better quickly once he started office and stayed on the upbeat the whole time he was in office. Bill has said he would be a big help to Hill if she wins and i support the Clintons whole heartedly. If obama wins the nomination my vote will go to Mccain. Obama will ruin this country even more than Mccain will.

I hate to burst your bubble but Blacks work and pay taxes also. You don't take care of me and mine, you take care of you and yours. I am not out here begging for a darn thing. I am sick and tired of people like you thinking blacks are welfare recipents. More Whites recieve welfare than Blacks, don't forget, we have worked hard for hundreds and hundreds of years, with low to no pay. So get off your high horse and get with the program, we are here to stay and we are strong, just like we have always been. I don't need your charity, I probably have a better income than you!

If Hillary hadn't decided to attack Obama for running, as if she was the only one that deserved to, then maybe they would have BOTH been doing the job. All she had to do was save her dirty tactics for the Repubs, but instead she chose to attack her own. For Obama's credit, he has been trying to fight fair and getting called names like 'OBAMBI" for being decent to a fellow Dem and trying to get his point across without attacking her. She has been attacking him like a vicious dog. I loved the Clintons back in the day, would have loved the duel ticket that would have surely beat any Repub, but Hillary made the decision that if she wasn't going to be Prez, no Dem would be so she and Bill decided to destroy the party.

Let me ask Bill Clinton a question: What exactly did you mean when you dismissed Obama's win saying that "well Jesse Jackson won in South Carolina".
I would like to ask Bill Clinton, why did he pick Jesse Jackson of all people to compare Obama to, why did he not pick John Edwards who won South Carolina, in 2004. Why didn't Bill compare Obama's win to John Edwards? Why did he choose instead to compare Obama's win to Jesse Jackson who won South Carolina in 1984 (OVER 20 YEARS AGO).
Bill Clinton, like the rest of America knows what Bill was trying to say, and it was that -- yes Obama won, but it's not a big deal, remember folks 20 YEARS AGO, the other black candidate Jesse Jackson won South Carolina too --
Bill Clinton's problem is that he has deep seated racial issues with blacks, and now he is just ###### that everyone else knows it too.

whaaa!!!!! we're losing, whaaaaaa!!!!
=(
ps - how's that sisterhood vote workin for ya? oh, how did you put it?... "I was stating a fact, and it's still a fact." So why not admit that Hillary is staying in the race simply because of her gender? Both subjets are just BS at this time in history.
If you want to play the game finger pointing game, suck it up (and stop trying to change the rules). This whole primary is messed up and we're all getting fed up. This is why Obama wants to bring people together and not be so abrasive. We can't accomplish anything if we have a president that has tunnel vision of "us vs them". This "tough" attitude has to go, the whole world will continue to look down on us.
Posted by: whiner | Apr 22, 2008 9:02:59 AM
I have no problem with Obama being proud of his heritage. I expect more black votes to go his way because of this. Hillary has never tried to accuse Obama or anyone in his campaign of being chauvinists. There is the difference. To compound the point, Obama tries to be above the frey and say he does not use dirty campaing tricks, and that race is not a key part of his campaign.
Just because he says he is running a clean campaign does not make it a fact.
For some reason he and his supporters have a problem with facts and reality.
He has fooled many, he is delusional in some of the retorhic he gives out.
He alone is going to change Washington and Politics. Get real. This is coming from a guy that has not even submitted any sugnificant legislation since he has been a Senator, much less gotten anything passed. Just ask the Governor of Wisconsin that supported him. He drew a blank when asked that specific question. This is not a football game where everyone stands up with the wave because it is fun without knowing what they are standing up for.
Think!
Posted by: tejasoutlaw | Apr 22, 2008 9:03:57 AM
Obama hasn't won anything but caucuses with the exception of one or maybe two. That is why he will not win in November if he is the nominee. He can't carry the big states that are must wins for the Democrats. There are no caucuses in the GE.

You sure do use a whole lot of words to say nothing. Why should we give someone who has not proven to be anything more than a bag of wind a chance at presidency. He has proven nothin, and has no experience. Yes, Hillary being first lady gave her much much experience. She got to see first hand how the president should act, Bill did a wonderful job, all but the one Monica Lewinski thing, which doesnt bother me at all. Cheating goes on all the time and his wife forgave him so everyone else should to. I bet most people here know someone close that has cheated on their spouse and it was forgiven. Get over it

Bill Clinton was my first choice, in '92. And, although I was a bit disappointed with his first term, I hung in for him in '96. But I have learned to despise him. And I can just imagine the problems he would cause as defacto vice president. Hillary would need to get a divorce before the election, for me to consider voting for her.
Posted by: Beowulf | Apr 22, 2008 9:09:03 AM
Reminder...
This is a media rehashing of old news to keep the "Clinton negativity" in the spot light. And right on the Pennsylvania primary day!...mmm, I wonder why?
Let's keep clear heads people.
Afterall, the media had six whole weeks to sit by pretty idle and keep trivial stories headliners out of pure boredom.
They're really ready to pounce on everything and anything to make up for lost time.

Posted by: spoon2456 | Apr 22, 2008 9:17:32 AM
What I heard/saw Bill say was, "Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton ran a good campaign with the black vote and still didn't get the nomination." He was caught on film saying this. The Clintons were fine with the African American support as long as it was for 'them' and their causes. When an African American decided to run for the Presidency against Hillary they dismissed him as a nuisance. Go away boy, we got this! Then along came New Hampshire and she lost the first test of the campaign and the Clinton's got annoyed with him. But the Clinton's still had allot of the black vote. Hillary ever so smug and cerebral comment about Martin Luther King and Bill's comment about Jesse and Al were enough for African Americans. They had enough and defected in droves. The Clinton's have no-one to blame but themselves. They just knew that Hillary should be winning this thing. They then went to Hispanics and starting courting them. They need another minority to carry them over. But Hispanics are not widespread and loyal to any one party. Only to themselves.

WHAT A TURN OFF! Bill and Hillary have turned me off by injecting race into this election. I really held Bill in high regard prior to this campaign, but not anymore. It seems like whatever he has done for black people and to align with black people including his office in Harlem was a prelude to Hillary's presidential campaign - a way to draw black voters and not necessarily because he holds black people in high regards or cares about them. Integrity matters to me...
Posted by: ablackwoman | Apr 22, 2008 9:23:42 AM
What's wrong with most of you? It's freaking politics. You are taking their campaign way too personal. I agree they are messing up the party and hopefully we can get down to getting the republicans out of the white house soon. More importantly than that is getting them out of the house. I think either would do an great job.

How wonderful of ABC to put this on the front page of their internet site... So Loyal a following - and Opps! It's April 22 - Penn Primary Day. What a coincidence! The NY press is really really showing their true trashy colors... All ABC, CBS, NBC and the rest have done is push for another Republican President in November 2008. Guess all the rich media slobs dont want their investment portfolios to pay more in capital gains tax - which by the way has nothing to do with a poor person's paycheck! Amazing, what a joke!
Posted by: NYCStylez | Apr 22, 2008 9:28:11 AM
I think people hear what they want to hear. When did Barack inject race into this campaign? That would be suicide if he were only to be seen as the "black" candidate. African Americans only make up 12% of the US population. Why on earth would that be a strategy to him? Bill Clinton brought up Jesse Jackson and has not provided a valid reason for doing so. He wanted Barack to be seen as only the "black" candidate like Jesse Jackson was because he knew then Barack would have no chance of winning. Then Ferraro said Barack was lucky to be Black, which is ridiculous, he had to respond to that. They were bating him. The Clinton camp wants to make this about race because they know that's a battle they can win.
Posted by: Carter | Apr 22, 2008 9:28:16 AM
Ok, so here are our choices...
McCain, although I like him better then Hill at this point, his anger and age may cause him to wake up at 3am..and push the "wrong" button. Pro war, Pro-Bush, doesn't know much (his own admittance) about the ecomomy.
Hillary, wants to be Prez so bad she will do anything, and say anything, do you really trust her? She seems to want her agenda to be the only one and she doesn't care who she has to step on to get it.
Obama, bright, inspiring but inexperienced.
3 millionaires fighting for a 400k job. Gas $3.50, people losing home, dying from lack of health care, WAR costing BILLIONS, education 50% dropout rate. I can't go to London because the dollar is worth .20.
Those are the facts, so what can any of them do to get us out of this mess created by BUSH? McCain, while I respect him, just wants to be Pres. he's never been this close before and darn it he wants it, he will also do and say anything.
Hill, she feels she deserves it based on Bill's record.
Obama, young guy who doesn't have to subject himself to this political nonsense, but does so because he really thinks he can change things, but is that too naive?
Think about what we have in front of us and base your opinions on that and not the personal stuff. Hill being a women won't make my gas tank full with .50 a gallon gas, McCain's service record won't save a mortgage, Obama's inpsiration won't get my child a better education. Go to their websites, read what they say they will do and pick the one who will help us the most. The rest of this stuff is BS.

Clinton is the Race card. All of his accomplishments on the so call behalf of African Americans was all about Clinton, now he show's how he is the Race card, why is he so frustrated. The one thing i like about this 08 campaign is whites did not, NOT vote for obama because he was black and blacks did not cast their votes for him JUST because he is black. Obama had to really work for the African American votes. They were NOT running to the polls to cast their votes from him. Does the media really think African-Americans are sitting around waiting for a Black President? I mean really? African Americans are very cautious and brand loyal people. Hillary had their support in the beginning, again until the comments. Hillary failed to reach out. She ran her campaign on entitilement and she believed her own press clippings! What a shame. I feel Hillary is un electable in the general election because she’s a brand! She’s a household name brand and can’t beat this no name senator who spent 10 minutes in the senate and spent most of his career working for the people of Illnois! I never knew anything about Obama until now and you can’t beat him. What a shame!! The way I see it, Obama is suppose to fight hard to win this thing. He’s competing against a brand. But Hillary, you can’t win in the primaries or the general election. PA please put her out of her misery, end this thing please!!!

Mariann, it is fine for you not to think there is anything wrong with Bill's comment, but it also fine for some black people to see the statement Bill Clinton made as an insult. And I don't know which black people you know who are "always" complaining about racism. Your statement is an exaggeration and you know it!! Just as you know, (if you are an honest person), that racism against black people does exist in this country, and sadly it has alway existed in this country. Knowing this to be true, why should some black people not have a problem with that fact!
Marianne, You and I are both women, we know that some level of sexism exists in our society, do we as women not have the right to make a statement about that sexism when we experience in our lives, or should we just shut up, be silent!!!
I don't think we should stay silent, and pretend it does not exist, just like I don't think it is fair that black people should be asked to be silent about what they experience, to pretend that they don't experience racism. It exists, and people experience it, just like people experience sexism, and homophobia everyday in this country. And denying that any of these things exist in America's society is simply refusing to face reality.

Bill Clinton is only rooting for his wife, the whole united states of america knows everything about both of them, if they dont they have been living under a rock. very little is known about Obama and if he haden't brought out the fact his mom is white daddy black no one would have known about it, so i think he brought out that fact from the beginning hoping that would give him a better chance of running for and getting elected, it is some screwed thought in his head, i could care less if he was purple or any color i wouldn't vote for him because he has no experience. at least Hillary has a ace in the hole 'Bill', what has Obama have . a bunch of loser's following him. Obama has played the race card from the very beginning.

was this guy really a President?

Bill should have known that and be careful for sure. The very first race card cast by Obama is framing Joe Biden to be a racist simply because Biden complemented him. Obama destroyed Biden's campaign on the very day it started, actually never able to get started.
Talking about frustration, ask Biden about it. The phonyhypocirte Obama cannot be touched because of media's blindness. You cannot criticize him - you are racist if you do that - and you cannot praise him - you are racist when you complement him if you are his oppenent because blacks are not clean nor articulate according to Obama. If anything Clinton is not known to be anywhere associated with racial divide, the kind of division played and used skillfully by Obama.
What has already been divided by this phonyhypocrite!

I got one for the Obama Camp. Hillary will step aside in about one month. His Holiness Barack Obama will lead the democrats as the nominee but come Novemember, 3/4 of Americans will say - I like Barack, but I want someone with experience in the Senate, in foreigh relations and someone who respects the Military - guess what, that's not Obama. So we'll have President McCain in 2008 - and then, 2012! Madame President.... It would work out so well.

This is not new information. Several objective sources (including Princeton historian Sean Wilentz) made this observation after researching the sequence of the events--two months ago.
USE YOUR HEAD--AND YOUR SEARCH MACHINE.
VOTE SMART.

Bill - you need to simply shut that big and lying mouth of yours! Your wife will NEVER become President and you know it! Why are you so desparate to have your wife win? The tactics you and Hillary use are exactly what the USA does NOT want in a leader... What part of the humanity and honesty do you NOT YET understand?

Independent, As an Independent voter I agree with you totally. The Clintons appeal to no one but hard core Democratic voters.

This is not even worth discussing. Bill Clinton is right on. As much as he and Hillary have done for African Americans in eight years of the White House should be commended.
I do believe they played the "race card" in South Carolina and it wasn't the Clintons.
Anyway, African-Americans are moving a little bit better towards the Clintons in Pennsylvania. Rise Hillary Rise! You will win and we will rise with you.
The Zogby Poll has Hillary up by 10 points today!

Bill and Hillary for sure can't be trusted. I am white and can see, what he was doing. That's why Lewis decided to back Obama, he saw the writing on the wall. And for me, Mr Obama gets my vote. Several of us, in Lancaster was talking about how they use people, especially Blacks, We are trying to turn this race around for Obama, she needs to get out of the race! She will suprise of the outcome...heading directly to Obama. It's a waiting game now, I will pray for Mr Obama. with hopes that people, My People will vote with a clear heart, and not look at color.

I think Obama needs to go back to his home state IL and first try and fix that state before he tries to lead a nation. IL is in great trouble with crime. Could you imagine a nation as such? Obama is too passive and naive. Hillary has tougher skin and will make a fine President. I am a Black Woman Supporting Hillary for President. Like she said we all have rummaged through her baggage which we all have. At least we know about her and where she stands. The first will be last and the last will be first. It is time for woman to stand up and show how strong we are. Race is not the issue! Hillary keep doing your thing. I will support you until you are President.

Obama came to Biden's defense during a debate (remember?)
And I think when 90 percent of African Americans were voting for Bill Clinton, everything seemed to be just fine. Bill and Hillary have apologized to black audiences, appearing to reference S.C. Now I'm just wondering: what, precisely, were they apologizing for?

President William Jefferson Clinton is 100%, absolutely correct.

I’m torn: Vote for Obama and hope we can move on to happier times, or vote for Hillary knowing happier times will come through Saturday Night Live’s skits of Bill running amoq in the Whitehouse?

B. Clinton went in history as one of the best president (in fact). We were living la vida loca during his reign. He was always pro African American. What did he get out of them? yes you guessed id betrayal. I voted for Bill Clinton, A gore, and regretfully to John Kerry, but now along with my co-church goers (2000 members) we will vote for either HRC or JC.

Someday soon, I hope that we can have a woman president who is not the spouse of a former president. Perhaps after Michelle Obama's second term?

Bill is correct. The Obama campaign introduced the race card. It happened after the NH primary when Jesse Jackson Jr. said Hillary's "tears" were not for black people.

Speeches by politicians are crafted to appeal to segments of the public. So when they use race in their speeches it is not to heal but to exploit the well proven divide and rule tactic. When someone as smart as Bill Clinton says it is meant for some of us. He knows that it will resonate with some of us. I wish we will move away from being divisive and focus on healing the nation.
