Clinton Slams Obama Again: Reminisces About Hunting as a Girl
April 12, 2008 7:15 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton continued her critique of Sen. Barack Obama's comments about small town America today, and used it to connect herself with the voters her opponent may have alienated.
Speaking about how Americans value their Second Amendment rights and enjoy hunting prompted Clinton to tell a story about her own hunting experience.
"You know my dad took me out behind the cottage my grandfather built on a little lake called Lake Winola outside of Scranton and taught me how to shoot when I was a little girl," she said. "You know some people have continued to teach their children and their grandchildren. It's part of culture, it's part of a way of life. People enjoy hunting and shooting because it's part of who they are. not because they are bitter"
Clinton also repeated some of her earlier lines, saying that she thought Obama's was "kind of elitist." Clinton repeated lines about faith -- and the way she views faith playing a role in society.
"My faith is the faith of my parents and my grandparents," she said. "It's a fundamental expression of who we are and what we believe in most profoundly and I disagree with Sen. Obama's assertion that people in our country cling to guns and have certain attitudes about immigration and trade simply out of frustration."
Clinton will spend the day in Pennsylvania on Sunday and will likely be repeating her message about Obama’s comments from San Francisco.

So, is Obama saying that if Pennsylvanians

I think we all know that Barack Obama is not an "elitist." I think Hillary Clinton knows that, and John McCain knows that. They are simply trying to score cheap points - bringing us all down in the process.
Why can't people speak the truth without being hit by the PC police?

Hillary is bitter and angry because she feels her God given right to the "job" of president the good ol USA is being gradually taken away by an "immigrant" senator from Hawaii.
To add more insult to injury, nobody seems to appreciate her foreign experience in dudging sniper fire in Bosnia.
Maybe she should have told the story of how she single handedly liberated Berlin and defeated the Nazis. That should get more attention and more votes I'm sure.

Obamas FAITH - is all in the words of Rev. Wright. What are the typical white people voting for this guy for?
This is crazy - this man is makin fun of small towns and white people that live in them.
Just like with Bush - if you vote for him - I will not pity you for what you get. When our young white kids are scared to walk down the street - youll lay in the bed you have made and take it

Rather than trying to explain his extremely offensive comments, Obama should apologize to the people of rural Pennsylvania, and rural America, for accusing them of "clinging to guns or religion" because they are "bitter."
Many of us want change, but I doubt any of us wants a disdainful president. Obama is unelectable.
Either the superdelegates support Hillary as the Party’s nominee or else… come November, it would be McCain ’08.

Hillary and Billy Bob are not elistist, just 'everyday - average Americans, who 'feel our pain'. I guess it takes more than 107 million dollar income in 4 years to be in the elite category.
How much does it take?

"Let's keep it simple.

LOL! What about:
In the following sentence, replace "my dad" with "the Pope" or "our dirty old Bishop":
"You know my dad took me out behind the cottage my grandfather built on a little lake called Lake Winola outside of Scranton and taught me how to shoot when I was a little gir,"

Oh Hillary,
I(n case you didn't know it people in PA, like my neighbors here in upstate NY are hunting and shooting not as an elite sport - but to put meat on the table and in the freezer. Cause they don't have enough to eat.
How's that for bitter.

What is so sad, is Barack if he does not win the Presidency will have been the last hope of the regular voter, not the ones to whom Hillary or McCain will cater to. But then, it will be too late. The US will be in Iran, even more in debt and less attractive for investors and immigrants who want to live and build a business in the US. Sad really.
Posted by: Susan, Cary, NC | Apr 12, 2008 8:31:43 PM
Hillary is a pathological liar. Where is she from? Illinois? Arkansas? Scranton? New York? DC? Whatever works for the moment? People in depressed rural towns are frustrated and bitter because their government has failed them. So, yes, hunting, and church are the things they can count on. That's what Obama was saying. SOOOOO typical of the Clinton spinmeisters to create something out of nothing. She really has become pitiful and wretched. And I am an "older" white woman. She really is grasping at straws. This is painful to watch. I predict that when she loses the nomination, she and Bill will divorce. Deal over. What a life they have lead, living off the taxpayers for 35 years.

I don't want the government to try and help the economy, everything they do screws up the economy. If they knew what they were doing, social security, veterans hospitals and the drug war would be the smoothest operations in the country.
If the government wanted to help the people, they'd secure the border, approve honest judges, control runaway govt spending and stay the **** out of my life.

This is crazy BS. These are old school politicians (Bill, Hillary, and McCain) ganging up on the guy who threatens to disrupt business as usual in Washington. Obama "misspoke" only in that he didn't obsess about how these opportunists may turn his words against him. Think about what he was saying before reacting to it. Remember, Hillary Clinton is a hunter who dodged sniper fire and will fix everything at 3am while dressed in full drag and it is offensive when someone points out the fact that I'm bitter because we're all happy here right?
She is so desperate.

Hillary is worried about 3:00am call. Oh, I'm sosorry.
... I went to bed at 3:00am and woke up at 6:00am everyday of the week except saturday night (that night i get 5 or 6 hrs of sleep). I worked hard at my job. After NAFTA passed, my job migrated to Canada. Did I feel cheated? Yes. Did I feel bitter? Yes. Did I embrace religion even more? Yes.
Now, what is your point Hillary "sniper-fire" Clinton? What is your point John "war-monger" McCain? What is wroing with having peace in this world? What is wrong with dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts? Why do we need to be bombing other countries or oil? Why can't we use renewable energy sources instead? Why do our government always sell us for the personal gain of the few in the government?

I don't think Hillary is a pathological liar; nor do I think Obama wants to confiscate all of Pennsylvania's firearms. I do think bureaucracy tends toward incompetence, but lack of proper government oversight and management is a sure guarantee for disaster. The answer is to create a government that can allow the succeeders to succeed without allowing them to take everything and thereby deny others the opportunity; that can allow the laggers to lag while making sure their failure is not permanent for them or their families. The answer is to elect candidates for their competence.

why can't the elections be plain and simple any more. I am sick and tired of all the back stabbing by ALL of the candidates. Everyone knows that they all lie to get into office, because they all make promises that they don't or can't keep. We dig into there personal lives and wonder why? They are all HUMAN beings just like the rest of us. Except what most people don't know is that there speaches that they give are usually NOT there own words. They are written for them. I worked in a political lawyers office years ago during the Kennedy years and got a real life taste of what an election was really like. Us poor every day people would be shocked. But you have to learn to read between the lines and look at what you really can see in the person that you are considering for your next president.

One other important point which I'm sure you will fill is in on. Since Obama made those truthful comments about the small-minded Pennsylvania people, clutching their guns and trembling in the corner with their Bibles, waiting for Senator Obama to bring them a job, I'm sure his poll numbers in Pennsylvania have shot up. Can you keep us briefed on that between now and April 22nd?

I think it's good this happened with Obama because people who have yet to open their eyes to the real Hillary have a great view of her. Aligning herself with the Republicans as she did on Iraq, Nafta and more or less - Columbia. Both Clintons and Bush are responsible for the anguish in small town America. They along with with Republican administration are the ones woefully out of touch and that makes me bitter....

When politicians are desperate, when they are out of touch with regular people, when they have nothing to offer other than continuing the same policies that have brought the economy and the foreign policy of this country to one of its lowest points, then twisting words is the natural thing to do. That’s exactly the situation of Clinton and McCain. Challenged by Obama, a man who has been able to connect with people of all races, creeds, and especially with the regular working men and women of this country, they are waiting like vultures to play the only game left to them, twist words and scare people. That’s the same card Bush played to start the war, to ruin the economy and to ease the road for the rich to get richer with profits from weapons and oil: twisted words, lies and fear. I am confident that people in this country will stay focused on the real issues this time around, stay focused on the need for the REAL CHANGE this country needs. If we don’t, we are going to continue paying a high price for letting politicians like Clinton and McCain manipulate our minds and to play into fear.
Don’t let these individuals ruin the chance to CHANGE the politics of fear and lies for a positive outlook on a better future. Don’t forget that those who supported this war are just as responsible as Bush is for the shameful situation of so many families loosing their homes to the profit hungry and dirty mortgage business; they are as responsible as Bush is for the high cost of living, for the lost of jobs overseas; they are as responsible as Bush is for the record profits of the oil corporations and the security firms, at the expense of regular working people; they are as responsible as Bush is for the tears and the suffering of those families who have lost their loved ones in this war; they are as responsible as Bush is for the pain of veterans who come back home to fight another war for their well deserved benefits and rights. I am not a Democrat or a Republican, I am an independent voter who beliefs that OBAMA is the ONLY HOPE we have at this point to try and get out of the mess in which the old Washington establishment have gotten us into.

Thank you Ernesto and J.Taylor for refocusing the conversation back to the real role of a president: leadership. Who will get us out of the Iraq disaster? Who will break our cycle of indebtedness to China? Who will identify and oppose the economic trends that continue to impoverish places like Pennsylvania? Who will offer new models for health care and education that are workable? Who can address the slow problem of environmental collapse? Who can lead without having half the nation hate him or her from day one? The argument shouldn't be about who has shot more squirrels.

I was out campaigning in Lexington Ky today for Obama. A white truck driver stopped and talked to us for about 30 minutes. He voted for Bush in '04. He's voting Obama, in Nov. if he's the nominee. The truck driver was talking crazy stuff, saying we were being manipulated by our current leaders, who are using fear to herd us around like sheep. And he is getting tired of being manipulated by that fear. Maybe the US is finally going through its own "awakening".

When people are rejected by someone, a system, or an establishment, they will turn to the roots of their raising for support. Everybody rightfully does this in times of need, including Blacks, Whites, Chinese, and all other nationalities. However, Hillary unfairly and deceptively misinterpreted Obama’s statement and painted him as a condescending elitist who is putting down small town Americans as ‘angry’, hoping they will belief her and eventually vote for her. She continuously tries to disrupt the fragile bond of trust that is between blacks and whites, and even Democrats and Republicans in this country.
What all fair minded Pennsylvanians should watch for is the condescension and the lack of indignation that is filled with Hillary’s criticism of Obama’s statement. What she is criticizing Obama of is exactly the belief that she herself has of the people in these small towns: that they are stupid, ignorant, and gullible. By using this sneaky political tactic, she is suggesting that small town Americans do not have the mental capability to fully understand what Senator Obama was trying to convey. And if she twisted the truth, they will easily belief her.
She knows that many small town Pennsylvanians who lost their jobs to NAFTA free-trade agreement and other outsourcing arrangements that were implemented by her husband’s administration, are now severely angry and do not trust many politicians. So she ironically takes advantage of these feelings by telling them that an outsider, someone of a different class, race, and educational level is trying to put them down, even though Obama accurately articulated what these people are truly feeling.
This kind of politics is rightfully called ‘gutter’ politics by Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico. This kind of politics has also caused Senator Ted Kennedy to support Obama instead of her. This kind of politics has also caused many super delegates to switch and support Obama.
Folks this kind of Machiavellian politics is used not only to divide the Democratic Party, but also this great country of ours called America. It’s Hillary way of saying if I am going to die a political death, I will take others with me, including the Democratic Party.

YOU MADE SOME INTERESTING POINTS IK AND TO "yareallygotmemgoin" IM SURE YOU DID NOT SEE THE SPECIAL ON MSNBC "MEETING DAVID WILSON" WHAT WRIGHT SAID HAS some TRUTH IN IT. AND IF NOTHING ELSE IT ACTUALLY GOT THE MEDIA AND PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN HIDDEN AND THE OPEN FOR EVER. WHY DO YOU THINK CNN AND MSNBC ARE DOING DOCUMENTARIES ON RACE AND THE MISUSE OF BLACKS AND THIS COUNTRY. ITS NOT FEBRUARY. WHY DON'T YOU BE A MAN OR WOMAN AND SAY HOW YOU REALLY FEEL. HILLARY CLINTON NOR JOHN MC CAIN IS DEFINITELY NOT WHAT YOU THINK THEY ARE. I HOPE THIS GOT YOUR BRAIN GOING. PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENCES. IT IS IGNORANCE OR ARROGANCE THAT PREVENTS AMERICA FROM BEING TRULY UNITED AT LEAST AS A COUNTRY AND A CIVILIZATION.

Obama is now a victim of his own words. He can not escape the outrage reactions of those who are insulted. He know better to open his mouth the next time. This is not Indonesia, nor Hawaii ( multi-racial) . This is Penn, this is Indiana, majority are white middle class americans. He can not just looked down their values and cultures as a way to escape their frustrations. They go to church because of their faith.

BO attacks Bush. BO attacks McCain. BO attacks Bill. BO attacks Hillary. BO attacks Granny. BO need not be attacking me or any other American. Rev. attacks America. Michelle dislikes America. What makes you think you can say what ever you want and that you will be elected. If you and everyone around you cant get along with Americans how would you treat the rest of the world?

Hillary: "My faith is the faith of my parents and my grandparents."
She was insinuating something here again. "He is not a Muslim .... as far as I know."

Is she trying to say that small town people are "sadists", finding pleasure in killing innocent animals because they lost their jobs.
