Clinton Slams Obama Again: Reminisces About Hunting as a Girl

ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton continued her critique of Sen. Barack Obama's comments about small town America today, and used it to connect herself with the voters her opponent may have alienated.

Speaking about how Americans value their Second Amendment rights and enjoy hunting prompted Clinton to tell a story about her own hunting experience.

"You know my dad took me out behind the cottage my grandfather built on a little lake called Lake Winola outside of Scranton and taught me how to shoot when I was a little girl," she said. "You know some people have continued to teach their children and their grandchildren. It's part of culture, it's part of a way of life. People enjoy hunting and shooting because it's part of who they are. not because they are bitter"

Clinton also repeated some of her earlier lines, saying that she thought Obama's was "kind of elitist." Clinton repeated lines about faith -- and the way she views faith playing a role in society.

"My faith is the faith of my parents and my grandparents," she said. "It's a fundamental expression of who we are and what we believe in most profoundly and I disagree with Sen. Obama's assertion that people in our country cling to guns and have certain attitudes about immigration and trade simply out of frustration."

Clinton will spend the day in Pennsylvania on Sunday and will likely be repeating her message about Obama’s comments from San Francisco.

Obama has lost small-town America with his smug derision. Not to mention many others who don't buy into this manufactured candidate.

Do the Democrats still have the spine to nominate someone who can win? Hillary is still available.

This Hillary painting of Obama is just too much...

and now Pollyanna's got a gun.

I sure hope she doesn't gain from this.

I have to add.....Obama's persistent cover-ups turn my stomach.

Rather than trying to explain his extremely offensive comments, Obama should apologize to the people of rural Pennsylvania, and rural America, for accusing them of "clinging to guns or religion" because they are "bitter."

Many of us want change, but I doubt any of us wants a disdainful president. Obama is unelectable.

Either the superdelegates support Hillary as the Party’s nominee or else… come November, it would be McCain ’08.

You can be bitter about some things (gridlock in Washington) and positive about other things. Right now I'm bitter about Hillary. I never thought I'd be sorry she's my Senator.

Turns out Obama is just another democratic demagogue. Was anyone really suprised by that?

Posted by: reason | Apr 12, 2008 8:23:38 PM

Agreed. If the superdelegates do not come through it will be a disaster.

Hillary and Billy Bob are not elistist, just 'everyday - average Americans, who 'feel our pain'. I guess it takes more than 107 million dollar income in 4 years to be in the elite category.
How much does it take?

"Let's keep it simple.

1. In the following sentence, replace Obama's name with Clinton or McCain."

LOL! What about:

In the following sentence, replace "my dad" with "the Pope" or "our dirty old Bishop":

"You know my dad took me out behind the cottage my grandfather built on a little lake called Lake Winola outside of Scranton and taught me how to shoot when I was a little gir,"

How much nonsense want the hillbillies to come up in the last weeks of their lady's miserable campaign?

Oh Hillary,
I(n case you didn't know it people in PA, like my neighbors here in upstate NY are hunting and shooting not as an elite sport - but to put meat on the table and in the freezer. Cause they don't have enough to eat.

How's that for bitter.

Season your venison with vinegar.

bob10001, what do you hunt with?

Posted by: Dave from Iowa | Apr 12, 2008 8:28:04 PM

Her Dad took her out behind the cottage and taught her how to shoot a gun. Hmmm. We are still wondering who shot Vince Foster.

Hillary said, Pennsylvania needs someone "...who works hard for your futures, your jobs, your families.”

Is that why, Hillary, your chief advisor is making backdoor deals with Columbian government to ship our jobs to them?

HILLARY "sniper-fire" CLINTON IS A CHYPOCRITE AND A LIAR. SHE IS TOO DARN SELFISH TO DO ANYTHING GOOD FOR THIS COUNTRY.

What is so sad, is Barack if he does not win the Presidency will have been the last hope of the regular voter, not the ones to whom Hillary or McCain will cater to. But then, it will be too late. The US will be in Iran, even more in debt and less attractive for investors and immigrants who want to live and build a business in the US. Sad really.

Hillary is a pathological liar. Where is she from? Illinois? Arkansas? Scranton? New York? DC? Whatever works for the moment? People in depressed rural towns are frustrated and bitter because their government has failed them. So, yes, hunting, and church are the things they can count on. That's what Obama was saying. SOOOOO typical of the Clinton spinmeisters to create something out of nothing. She really has become pitiful and wretched. And I am an "older" white woman. She really is grasping at straws. This is painful to watch. I predict that when she loses the nomination, she and Bill will divorce. Deal over. What a life they have lead, living off the taxpayers for 35 years.

bob10001,

I hope this shenanigan bites Hillary in the butt. What an egregious twisting of words and meaning. I sure hope the people who aren't firmly entrenched in the Hillary camp see through this and punish her at the ballot box.

But, I'm worried most will take what she says at face value.

Posted by: ostracizzle | Apr 12, 2008 8:33:17 PM

bob10001, where did you go? Don't you even know what you hunt with or are you off Googling up what common hunting calibers are? Are you one of Kerry's hunting buddies ;)

Posted by: Dave from Iowa | Apr 12, 2008 8:34:24 PM

I don't want the government to try and help the economy, everything they do screws up the economy. If they knew what they were doing, social security, veterans hospitals and the drug war would be the smoothest operations in the country.

If the government wanted to help the people, they'd secure the border, approve honest judges, control runaway govt spending and stay the **** out of my life.

Was it also her grandfather who taught Hillary to dodge sniper fire?
