ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports:  Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., was introduced by Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Pa., at the Trades National Legislative Conference in Washington DC, who attempted to make the case for Clinton.  Murtha said he thinks that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is too old – saying "its no old mans job." Murtha, only four years younger than McCain, said that its too much stress for a man of that age.

Watch the VIDEO HERE.

Clinton was extremely well received at this union meeting with a few thousand members present. Clinton received multiple standing ovations after listing her plans for pro-labor agendas she plans to enforce as president.  "I know some people think I’m tough," Clinton said, "Well I think we need a tough president."

Clinton made her case saying, “On the one hand, we know who the republican nominee is going to be: a good man who has served his country with great dedication and honor, but who is dead wrong on all of the important issues facing America.” Clinton then had some kind things to say about her democratic rival - abstaining from criticism - saying, “I’m running against an incredibly important candidate with an enormous amount of talent and ability who has demonstrated a tremendous capacity for inspiring people across our country and I respect and honor that.” Clinton then turned to the audience saying that this was a hiring decision, as she has said before.

Clinton got some laughs when she said, "This is essentially the longest job interview we have conducted for the American people." Clinton continued, "Its gone on a long time but its given millions of people a chance to make their judgments. It’s the closest election that we have had that people can remember. Millions of Americans have registered to vote many have changed their registration, which is a piece of good news, from the other party to the Democratic Party. We have ten more contests and I am going to compete as hard as I can in each and every one of them, starting in Pennsylvania."

The McCain campaign pointed to the Senator's grueling campaign schedule as evidence of his physical stamina. "I think people will evaluate John McCain through the type of campaign he is running, whether it is through appearances on shows like Letterman and Leno, whether its through the fifteen hour days on the campaign trail. He’s a person who’s in great physical shape, who has outworked every other campaign on the Republican side, and you know, has a much tougher and demanding schedule than Senator Obama," said McCain's senior advisor Steve Schmidt.

Nice from Hill the Bosnian General to say that Obama is formidable, because she is afraid of tonight debate after distoritng and twisting Obama's words and qualifying him of being an elitist and out of touch for a whole week. No, Hill the Bosnian General you can run but you cannot hide, meet him tonight and there will be real conversation about the issues facing America and how you amassed 109 million+ 800 000 from Urube in Colombia. Hopefully these union people undertand what you are planning with Urube on their back i.e. shipping over to Colombia their jobs. God bless America and God bless obama. OBAMA08.

MYCOUNTRY, voting for Obama is voting for your country. You may understand that McCain is unelectable as is Hill the Bosnian General. So you better get ready to support Obama to transform his leadership vision into a reality. The world and America are waiting for Obama to lead. God bless America and God bless Obama.OBAMA08.

Murtha? The greatest ear marker of all times who steals from the citizens to support his pals?

I guess he's read where McCain is against earmarks. That wouldn't be his motive. Would it?

B E W A R E !

Moderate democrats are going to be ousted by the party's leftists. If you want real meaningful change, you should vote for Nader come general election time. Switching allegiance to the leftists will destroy your party forever.

Obama is Dangerously out of touch with
reality and clings to guns and religion.

This Election is crazy. People get so wrapped up into the hype of politics. The bottom line is the issues. while you’ all are fussing about who said what and who is associated with who...why not think about what that person can do for you...If you look at the dems both candidates have most of the same solutions. So, instead on voting on the issues that may or may not affect you, you rather focus on petty things that in the long run are irrelevant to you. This country has gone down hill with Bush in office. So, you wouldn’t vote for BO b/c he’s arrogant or Hillary b/c she makes too much money. But you would vote for McCain because you don't like the other candidate personality...reality check: These people will never be your friends. All of these people are not perfect and will never be perfect…and the last time I checked they were human being. As if any of you are perfect…wow God forbid they say something that may offend someone as if you’ve never done it before. God forbid you were associated with a person, you may think has crossed the line once or twice before…however you’re still associated with them. Wake up people!!! You’re taking this petty thing way to seriously. Focus on the issues and how it will affect your lives. I’m an Obama supporter, however if he didn’t get the nomination, well guess what the next best person would be Hillary for me. Focus on the Issues people…come on!!

To be perfectly accurate Obama's stupidity
and unpatriotism makes him unfit to be
a citizen of this country.

The democratic party is doomed! With Hillary's follower's defections, Obama will become a minor player in the general elections.

Obama thinks we don't like him because
he is black - but actually we don't like him in spite of the fact that he is black!

Obama pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez
withdraw!!!!

Posted by: lucy | Apr 16, 2008 12:44:05 PM

all this stuff coming out of these posts about obama is exactly why part of the democratic party needs some tough love to get rid of this clinton cloud.

There a good article on USA today's website entitled "Obama tied to lobbyists, but boasts of not taking money". The connection with his fellow lawyers is most interesting.

Just the idea of that "bitter" not proud of her country, Michelle Obama, becoming the first lady of the country that I love and am very proud to be from and that she would represent is enough to inspire me to vote Republican if Hillary is not the nominee!!

Posted by: rockthebleachers | Apr 16, 2008 12:56:36 PM

rockthebleachers -- if Hillary looses, you can still have meaningful change. Vote Nader and make a statement in addition to promoting your values.

Common Sense

Do you seriously believe Hillary supporter's will shift to Obama. McCain represents centralist values that appeal to moderate democrats far more that the southpaws represent their core values.

Posted by: S | Apr 16, 2008 1:06:42 PM

McCain climbed the grand canyon last year over 3 days with his son in the navy academy.

Colin Powell is McCain's age.

Pelosi is McCain's age.

Justice Kennedy is McCain's age.

6 justices on the supreme court are older than McCain.

23 senators are older than McCain.

Senator Feinstein is 3 years older than McCain.

McCain is being smeared and it is a shame because he would be a historic leader.

Posted by: Jason | Apr 16, 2008 1:07:40 PM

Murtha last year tried to become majority leader in the house. At that time he wasn't talking about his own age.

Reagan was re-elected when he was years older than McCain.

McCain isn't even that old.

Bush Sr was president around McCain's age.

71 isn't that old.

Italy just elected their leader who is 71.

BKMC,
I see you are attempting to build up your candidate, Obama by again hacking away at Hillary Clinton with bald-faced lies.

You cannot show where even for a moment that Hillary Clinton has backed down from Barack Obama. Your statement is nothing but a distortion of reality. What's in the koolaid?

If you and Obama don't have anything to fear from Clinton why do you blog non-step. Be careful, you are going to turn into one of the BITTER voters.

He may be too old for the job, but more importantly: he's too dumb for it, just as George W. Bush is.
