Clinton Tells Jay Leno Bill 'Gets Carried Away'
April 03, 2008 8:32 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: During an interview on NBC's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno", Sen. Hillary Clinton admitted her husband, former President Bill Clinton, gets a little carried away sometimes when promoting her candidacy for president.
Asked by Leno about Bill getting "red-faced" and upset recently Clinton said, "when you are supporting someone you love you really do take it very much to heart. I told him ‘OK honey that's all right we don't have to go get excited about it.' So he's uh he's doing a great job for me, but he gets a little carried away sometimes."
Mrs. Clinton, locked in a fierce contest for the Democratic presidential nomination with Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., started off with a joke about the recent Bosnia snafu – saying, "I was worried I wasn’t going to make it – yeah, I was pinned down by sniper fire in Burbank."
Clinton then followed up with an attempt to clarify what happened saying "this has been such a mismatch of words and actions and I was thinking about it because obviously I have been so privileged to represent our country in gosh more than 80 other countries, lots of war zones, and all the rest of it. I wrote about it in my book and then obviously I just had a lapse and uh, so here I am safe and sound."
Another joke about the much talked about 3 am ad had the audience laughing. Leno fired away at Clinton asking, "how much sleep do you get at night, answering the phone at 3 o’clock?" The Senator responded "you know it happens every single night somebody calls up and they have something to say – you’ve got to stop calling me –I'm here! I'm here."
Leno asked Clinton about some news relating to her daughter Chelsea. "She thought you would be a better president than her dad" Leno said. Clinton lit up a big smile and said "She is such a smart young woman."

Thankfully Hills was there to answer the call.

Hillary is so intelligent, so cool, so prepared to lead, and what a great sense of humor. Now, that is a great combination that is sadly lacking in the White Hous right now. How did the American people stumble so badly? Twice in a row! Oh, I forgot that they chose Al Gore the first time.

Bill gets carried away and once again instead of admitting what everyone saw with their own eyes, she lies again about Bosnia. I honestly think this woman is missing the smart chip most are born with because she just keeps proving she's dumber than dirt.
Both need to be house trained and taught the basic german shepard commands.

If bill is so in love with her then why does he always go around and screw other women while he is still with him? is she defining the love as Political Love=interest= greeady about Money and Power?

Ton, we do not think that Re Wright is running for president of the US. Rev Wright has his reponsibilities and he is a citizen of the US and said what he said. Obama has not said these words has rejected them and do not belive they have any place in the American society. America understands Obama and has acceped his words. God bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA08.

Wright is a HUGE issue. judgement, 20 years worth, no matter how you spin it, he is not electable. He is against the words and tone of wright, only when Obama got caught. Obamas words mean nothing, he is a liar. He is just like the politics in washington, and so are his followers. He can't bring change. He is empty, just talk.

Hillary cannot joke away the fact that she repeatedly lied about taking sniper fire in Bosnia, thereby dishonoring all of those who have served our country under real fire. Making a joke of it makes it worse, i hope she thinks that seeing my poor 100% disabled father who took fire in WWII is real funny. She is heartless, and disgrace to to Democrats.

Obviously Hiliary is a very intelligent person. It is senseless to say otherwise. Certainly, I am sure that anyone making that claim can't know the meaning of intelligence. Perhaps you could reasonably say she is shrewed but dumb, I don't think so. Her very persona exudes her brilliance. After all, even though she has been accuse of numerous heinous things, these other smart people though spending millions were not able to pin anything on her. In essence its only been malicious gossip. Every one makes mistakes, Hiliary notwithstanding will make an excellent President because she has already shown that she can place the needs of the country above her own personal woes and pain.

Hi Roger Miller,
Let make it more clear!
If you hate your own country, there is only two things can happen,
1. If you don't have good education, you became a gangter, then became a terroist for the rest of your life.
2. If you have good education, you became a scientist, then became a terroist.
That is why some scientists in America working for terrorists.
Who will Obama became, will see.

Ton,
I read that Chicago Tribune link you posted. You seem to be implying that we should disregard Wright's hate speech because it is outweighed by the acts of good that Jeremiah Wright performed over a lifetime.
I can forget the hate speech if he's mentally ill and actively seeks treatment, admittedly so. Otherwise, if you are telling me he's in full command of his faculties, then I'll say he is deserving of the same outcome as the likes of the equally pathetic Don Imus.

Hi,
Don't be kid talk, Hillary lied about Bonia. But what is so important. I can see a lie on Obama face. All the politicians in the morden life tell lie. Obama can jump from nowhere to where he is now in a shot time that means he is the king of lie. He gives you false hope and dream, OK. He did not serve in the military for one day. He did not go with Wright, you think he can be a senator as now, have a big house?
Please do you homework or you will stuck in Iraq as Presidential loser John Kerry said.

WestCoastMessenger...
I see you are angry and rightfully so. I feel the same way too, but I must understand that the only way to make progress most of the time is to look at the issue and understand the perspective of the other person -
Am I therefore saying we should forget Wright's speech...? No necessarily. But I am saying talking about this issue will not solve the current home foreclosure issue, or the quagmire in IRAQ, or even the possible meltdown in the economy. We should focus on the issues that affect all Americans and work on resolving those issues. On the other hand if must discuss the Wright issue, then we should discuss the whole life of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, not 10-15 sec sound bites from a couple of sermons. Hope that helps -

WestCoastMessanger, you know that the writing is on the wall. You know very well what my interest is and you could help by mobilizing some funding for research purposes and do not give it to McCain. Everybody will need your help at the end and with that strong support Obama will win the White House come November 2008 and November 2012. God bless westCoastMessanger, God bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA08.

I am so sick of the Bosnia thing. She said she was wrong, and tried to make fun of herself here. I haven't heard Obama say he was wrong about his "embellishments" on how his parents met, when he was born, the Kennedy connection, the Rezko lie in one of the earlier debates, or a multitude of other misspeaks, boneheaded mistakes, or outright lies. He just ignores it and the press lets it all just go away. They are all guilty of the same type of things, quit pretending Obama is above it, he's just not getting pounded for it over and over. The press is even helping him turn the Wright mess around by trying to make Rev. Wright look like a hero now by going to the Catholic Church and getting a standing ovation. It's sickening, and it is not working with those of us who actually have some intelligence, no matter how much the media crams this hype down our throats. It's like mass hypnosis.

WestCoastMessenger,
I see from your writing you are quite a nice person. I am not quite sure I can answer your question of how much the Obama camp. paid to Reverend Jeremiah Wright and for how long, but you can get that from the Obama camp. directly. I am not sure Rev. Wright was a paid staff, but you are doing what I think is right - RESEARCH. Your question is legitimate. I think we should do that for all the candidates and then make our choice. Oh !!! btw: I am an informed conservative republican though....
Posted by: Ton | Apr 3, 2008 10:56:19 PM
WestCoatsMessanger, you have seen Obama's tax returns and CNN has presented a nice graph with all the detalis re money which went to charities. We are still waiting to Hill's tax returns. So the amount of money which went to the church is included in that graph. You may ask Wolf/CNN to help you with that information. It is time for you to move forward and start supporting Obama because he is the leader who can bring necessary changes in America and the world. He will get America back into its greatness. God bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA08.
Posted by: BKMC | Apr 3, 2008 10:57:31 PM
Roger Miller,
Obama should be credited, at the end of this campaign, for bringing the majority of Democratic voters together to vote against him, because of his political immaturity, his relationship with Reverend Wright, his relationship with Rezko, and his relationship with BKMC (OK, the last one is a joke).
I guarantee Hillary Clinton will prevail on the popular vote. Check out what Michael Barone wrote on this topic over at U.S. News and World Report, the state by state projections. We're not talking gaming it, and it's not even including Florida and Michigan).
Today, people such as John Murtha are publicly announcing that Hillary must win the popular vote to get the remaining Super D support. The only reason that he's coming out with such a statement is that he knows she will prevail. It's the same kind of thing that Bill Clinton did to be able to create the Texas momentum, and it worked. Obama will not know what hit him when the tsunami finally recedes.

If

Then
Obama Loses Nomination
Else
Obama Loses General

Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | Apr 3, 2008 11:08:01 PM
WestCoastMessanger, your love for Hill is real, but get over it, she cannot win the popular vote. Texas was won by Obama, go and look at the delegates count. The two gentlemen who are endorsing Hill now came forward today to make it to Hil-the Bosnian General, that she should bring the beef on the table, because the arguments she is pushing now with big states small states are not working. Obama has more pledged delegates, won more states and has the popular vote. That is clear who is the front runner and who is the nominee. God bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA/WEBB08.
Posted by: BKMC | Apr 3, 2008 11:10:01 PM
WestCoastMessenger,
A slight twist to your algorithm:
If
Hillary wins popular vote AND more delegate
Then
Obama Loses Nomination
Else
Obama wins Nomination AND General
Endif
WestCoastMessenger, this is a delegate race, not popular vote :-)
Posted by: Ton | Apr 3, 2008 11:13:29 PM
WestCoastMessanger, do you really want a 3rd term WBush-Cheney-McCain? The choice is yours. Hillary will not win the popular vote noway, she cannot make it, the math is not on her side. She has to go back to Bosnia and help with the snipers. God bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA/WEBB08.
Posted by: BKMC | Apr 3, 2008 11:14:02 PM
BKMC,
I totally agree with you that the popular vote should be used as a factor in the Super Ds judgement. If Obama has it that's all well and good for him, and I'll be supporting Hillary in 2012. It's useless to argue about it, we'll just count it when it comes.
What's Obama going to do about the disenfranchisement of Florida and Michigan?

Hey West... I see you are a Democrat... good for you. I had thought you were a rep. like me. Interesting... I love your passion for Hill, but I doubt if she can pull this through... I think Obama will be the Nominee and also win the general -
Posted by: Ton | Apr 3, 2008 11:21:47 PM
Here's an improved variant:
If
Hillary wins popular vote AND combined delegates (pledged+supers)
Then
Hillary wins the nomination and wins the General
Else
Obama wins Nomination AND loses General AND Hillary wins in 2012
Endif
Posted by: WestCoastMessenger | Apr 3, 2008 11:21:52 PM
WestCoastMessanger, an Obama first term is not a WBush-Cheney-McCain 3rd term, that should be clear. Sorry for you if you think so. Obama is a great leader who will negotiate without fear. He will win the popular vote, pledged delegates, superdelegates and the nomination. Vote in FL and MI, is not within rules and regulations, so a revote is the only one possibility if rules have to be respected. You are looking for something to hang on, too bad, the writing is on the wall. Have a good night. God bless America and God bless Obama. OBAMA/WEBB08.
Posted by: BKMC | Apr 3, 2008 11:25:30 PM
Ok West... yet another slight mod... to your variant...
If
Hillary wins popular vote AND combined delegates (pledged+supers)
Then
Hillary wins the nomination, but will loose the General (too much baggage - The rep. attack machine have a lot on her already)
Else
1. Obama wins Nomination AND the General
2. Hillary can try 2012, but Obama as an incumbent will still win
Endif
Remember I am an informed conservative republican.
Posted by: Ton | Apr 3, 2008 11:29:22 PM

I totally understand why we had GeorgeW for two terms, I never did before, but now I do. The things the American public opts to focus on in making their decisions about this Country's President
are disheartening. I'm going to generalize though I recognize for many this is not the case, but too many people don't look closely at ALL the candidates positions, their record, their experience or lack of rather they make decisions based on things like "I can't trust a woman if she'd stay with a man who cheated", "She lost my vote when she got teary eyed", " He's so classy looking", "He's not a Clinton", "He/She's not a Bush", "He wrote a good book" and on and on. Clinton embellishes on a Bosnia trip that did occur and she's a liar, Obama puts out a TV saying he doesn't take money from the oil industry and yet he takes as much and in the same manner as Clinton and yet what's he. I never heard so many people say it's not necessary to have experience to be President, well if it's good enough that you need experience to be a manager at a fast food establishment then I think it's good enough for our Presidency.

Rev_Wright -
I have read both articles earlier - First Dems will not buy the wright issue in the general, 'cos we all know it now and it will be clear the **right** is using it as a smear strategy. Dems and independents will rally around Obama and stand with him. Wright will be an old news then.
Secondly Obama-William C. Ayers connection is a tenuous one and the story does not have traction.
The glass-jaw thingy is the strategy to get dems to vote Hill, so they can come after her in the general and win the election. C'mon dems - Wise-up...

Senator Clinton's greatest strength-her stubborn refusal to quit-is also her greatest weakness-her stubborn refusal to admit a mistake.
She has never owned up to her votes on the Iraq War. Edwards did. Admitting a mistake is the first step to learning from it and taking responsibility for your actions is part of being a leader.
Her records as First Lady show that she spoke out in favor of NAFTA to help get it passed. Clips show she made statements supporting it in 96 and when she ran for the Senate in 2000. Now she says she was against it all along.
Senator Clinton says she pushed for human rights in China-she made a speech. She says she negotiated an open border in Kosovo - it opened the day before she got there. She says she dodged sniper fire...
Seriously, how can anyone say she's ready on day one?

MarcinSeattle,
Last time I checked it wasn't a good thing, as a national leader, to go around falling on your sword, dwelling on mistakes. For example, Obama admitted being a "bonehead" when it came to Rezko. Now he's used up his one bonehead card. He was still a bonehead when he put Wright on his campaign, but now he can't admit that it was boneheaded, or that will become his brand.
If I had them, I would trade you five Bosnian sniper spins for two boneheads, because I think bonehead admissions are way more destructive.

Hillary at Leno -
instead of LYING about sniper fire she is now JOKING about it...
if the people from Bosnia or Sarajevo could see her, they would despise her.
I think such a woman would be a disgrace to the American Presidency as, in the end, her husband was.
Reality is a game for them that they cynically play, all to their own profit.

Senator Clinton is definitily winning the fight of charisma and convincing. If Hillary Rodham Clinton had addressed men as “sweetie,” called them handsome or offered them a kiss to change their minds and vote for her, members of the media would have ridiculed and criticized her.
In a campaign where issues of racism have provoked serious and bitter debate, issues of sexism still get a wink and a nod. Sexism is the elephant in the room.

Surrogates and supporter start abandonning Barack Obama.
WASHINGTON — Senator Barack Obama’s support among Democrats nationally has softened over the last month, particularly among men and upper-income voters, as voters have taken a slightly less positive view of him than they did after his burst of victories in February, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

Its funny to listen to these Hillary backers talk about Obama misspeaking about how his parents met. You would think that they would understand misspeaking. After all of the misspeaking that Hillary has done. She even matches him on dumb statements about herself and her origins. After all, according to her, she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary, even though he didnt become famous until she was 5 years old. I guess up until then she was just named Girl.

AND YES WE ALL KNOW HOW CARRIED AWAY BILL CAN GET. (DOES HILLARY REALLY CARRY MONICA HANDBAGS AS A REMINDER TO BILL?)

The pro-Obama people should do what some Republicans did to Al Gore in 2000: serenading Hillary "nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah hey hey hey goodbye". Remember that surreal scene in 2000? LOL

Hillery was great on Leno.Humorous, witty, composed and again showing a breathtaking knowledge of our country's problems.I think she has put to rest the whole sniper fire deal. She did land in a war zone, was warned of sniper fire and she was not at a glitzy airport with red carpets and white wine .Get over it.Obama's dubious connections to the underworld and his pastor/mentor problems are much more serious.

Hillary represents experience and CHANGE. She said that in the very beginning but Obama has done his best to pin tags on her that are inaccurate. She is a centerist that will work for ALL the people. Vote Nobama, Yes Hillary.

"lots of war zones"??? Hillary is covering her lie with more lies. Please name all those war zones you were in, Hillary. Why isn't the media calling her on this?

How can Hillary run this country when she can't even run her own campaign. How scary is that.

I just love how when she looks like the fool that she is or is busted out right, she then turns around and makes it and herself into a joke. Now, tell me, who in the hell in their right mind would vote for someone such as her? The lady is a laughing sock puppet....I see NOTHING to laugh about. I believe humor goes a long way but this s*** is just absurd.
If cannot vote for Obama I will write in Jerry Seinfield, he is the only other person more funnier than she is! And before I vote for some fake comedy clown, I will vote for a real one!

Hillary knows how to put on an act. Unfortunately, it is just that: an act. There is nothing real and genuine about the lady. It's time for her closing act.

I agree with Robby. How can any of you think her joke about the Bosnia thing was funny? She absolutely lied about it making the entire thing up. What an insult to people who have truly had this experience. Regardless of who you support in this election, this should shock and offend you. She made the wole thing worse by making light of it and it should insult the american people! WAKE UP!!! Are we so used to people lying to us (WMD?) that we are just immune to it and even accept it?

LYING TO THE PUBLIC IN ORDER TO GET ELECTED IS CALLED FRAUD, NOT HUMOUR.

If someone sat for 20 years and never made a difference or tried to dispell some of Wright's false teachings (AIDS is a government invention to kill Blacks) then what will he do for America? It is about Obama not Wright.
Hillary Clinton has her failings but she has a clear record of standing up and reaching across the aisle to make a difference. No amount of spin in the media or from Obama's campaign will make a dent in her accomplishments.
Their policies are similar, but in every case hers are bravcer...health insurance mandates, Freeze on interest rates...gay civil rights. She would be a better president.

Any and at any time.

When Wright said those things, he was not talking about system of government, not you, the people. You all have to realize that we are all tools. America as a system has it positives and negatives. Who would be wrong to damn the negatives and want to change them? No one would be wrong. Racism was not created by the people. It was created by the system for the system. Everyone has there role in racism, according to the system. If the system loved you so much, why wouldn't they just pay you or others to do the work, than to force others to do the work for free? Is that democracy? What was the reason "discoveries"? Europe was financially broke! This is the simple truth.
Everyone has a right to think as they want. Be careful! Why do you think the jobs are going over seas? Well, I think there are one reason.
1. for profit, capitalism. Hey, only those that understand survives.
2. These leaders in these corporations see something coming that the rest of us , fools, don't see. Hey, only those that understand survives.
3. Hey, only those that understand survives.
Whomever wins the White House, is still no excuse for our ignorance. If you understood, you would run for the presidency, too.
What good is experience, in the face of new problems, in which there is no understanding
Life is simple!
simple + simple = Complex (a fancy name for "simples"
Stop the hating and participate. When it all comes down to it, it is your fault, because your were not there. Ignorance is not excuse.
I like to see how many of you, that are hating, can run for president next time. You got four years. 1, 2, 3 go!
