Hillary Clinton: Rocky's Apprentice

ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: First "Rocky", now "The Apprentice"?

Speaking to an AFL-CIO meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Senator Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., told the crowd that she is a fighter, injecting fictional boxer Rocky Balboa into the Democratic nomination title fight.

Watch the VIDEO HERE.

"Senator Obama says he is getting tired of the campaign, his supporters say they want it to end," Clinton said, "Could you imagine if Rocky Balboa had gotten half way up those art museum stairs and said, 'Well, I guess that's about far enough.'"

Clinton added, "When it comes to finishing the fight, Rocky and I have a lot in common. I never quit, I never give up and I know that were going to make it together, not just up those stairs, but were going to climb that mountain for a better day for America."

Not yet tired of Roger Ebert approved analogies?

"I've Apprenticed," Clinton said, insisting she will stand up for labor when she is in the White House, and alluding to her experience as first lady.

"Look, I know there will be hurdles and set backs from now until November but I also know I'm ready. Look, I know what it's like to stumble I know what it means to get knocked down. But I've never stayed down I never will and neither will you and neither will America. We are on the comeback trail as a country."

Gerry McEntee, Clinton's loyal surrogate and AFSCME president, defended Clinton's hesitency about NAFTA when she served as first Lady. McEntee said she called him when it was passed and she said, "We lost," while the candidate, in her speech, said she "raised a big yellow caution flag" about the trade bill.

On a separate subject, when asked in a press availability about the financial state of her campaign, Clinton replied, "We are raising the money we need and we are paying our bills."

Hillary is a HUGE fighter. She has shown the american people she can withstand the entire rigged media being against her . She keeps getting back up after wave after wave of PROPOGANDA that she is down and out.

She has proven to be a WAY better candidate for president than Obama, who has had basically everything is way and STILL complains .

She is one tough cookie to break. She is a fighter, and admire her for that. I just hope she reaches her final goal.

Jesus, how HAS this woman lasted so long? We can't put such a divisive figure up as our nominee. She needs to step aside. She will lose to McCain; she alone will be all the motivation Repulicans need to vote McCain in. Obama can win in November. She can't.

Yep. Hillary sure is a fighter. She kinda reminds me of a pit bull. She also reminds me of Karl Rove and, if you eliminate the politics, she behaves just like W. Under no circumstances will this Dem. ever, I repeat ever, vote for the type of political nonsense the Clintons spew.

Doesn't anyone remember Rocky lost? Not to mention 'Rocky' is backing John McCain. I agree she is a fighter who punches with repeated low blows.

Great comparison... a tough fighter throughout, who winds up losing in the end by a split decision.

Got to hand it to her she does know how to strech things out wear people down and then make them give up. But she's also very cold calculating and the reason she didn't devorce Bill is because she needs the name to have politcal clout.
At least she is off the everyone picks on me train. I wish her followers would follow her example.
I can't wait to vote againts her.

Yes Hillary is a fighter...

...she has been steadfastly figting IMAGINARY SNIPER FIRE.

Her fighting chances are as imagianry as those sniper fire.

"Ah come on, Adrian, it's true. I was nobody. But that don't matter either, you know? 'Cause I was thinkin', it really don't matter if I lose this fight. It really don't matter if this guy opens my head, either. 'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood."

She is not defeatable. Obama is. It already looks like McCain is catching him in his double talk and lack of knowledge. McCain would not be able to do that with Hillary. She is a fighter for what she believes in, and she does not quit.

Some wonder "how she has lasted so long". Read her history. She is smart, she is intelligent, she is knowledgeable on all the issues, she has a great deal of relevant experience, and my Lord, she is tough!
Come on Pennsylvania, vote Hillary to fight for you!

She is a big looser. She should step aside.

It's been a while, but from I remember Rocky Balboa lost the fight to Apollo Creed, who was at the time the reigning heavyweight champion. Perhaps this is not such a good analogy for Clinton to make, regardless of her attempt to cajole voters in the city of brotherly love with references to a fictional hero. What is interesting to note, however, is that Sylvester Stallone, the creator and star of 'Rocky" went on to portray John Rambo in series of films in which that hero faced an endless barage of sniper fire. Could it just be that Sen. Clinton's analogy may backfire?

The irony here is that Rocky Balboa started off as a joke and won the admiration of a city...Sen. Clinton on the other hand, began with admiration and is ending as a joke...

Let's get real here people. There isn't a thing this lady has in comparison to Rocky. For a so called woman as tough as Rocky with morals and integrity, she didn't fight for her own when her hubby saddled up with another woman in the oval office! God help us she doesn't become President. I don't want her teaching my kids how to rollover and take it up the a**.

Hillary is amazing. After all of the slanted news coverage she is still fighting. She is one of the most impressive public figures that I have ever seen. This strong woman makes me proud to be an American!

Americans for solutions -- Clinton 2008!!!

Go all the way Hillary, you can do it. There are too many people standing by you and voting for you. Don't give up, you can battle the media, Obama and McCain.

Posted by: Persio | Apr 1, 2008 3:16:38 PM

SHE IS SO PATHETIC !!!!
In a state of tatal denial.
Too many lies have driven her crazy.

The Obama bubble will burst and fde like so many trends. It's like the TV Show "Survivor" strategy, get the strong one out first. Then in November, Republicans will have a field day with Obama

Posted by: ken | Apr 1, 2008 3:24:46 PM

Can any of you Obama supporters give any real reason that Obama has earned to role of leader of this great nation?

Posted by: James | Apr 1, 2008 3:25:25 PM

Yes.. Keep fighting...A true leader never give up and give in to your enemy...

Fight for what you believe...

Did Obama ever say the word "fighter"? Maybe not from his dictionary...he is just listening... to his pastor, to his advisors...
