I am watching your evening news. To discuss the "poll" without explaining over polling African American and catholic voters is disengenuous. The poll is not a "real" poll and only YOUR viewers are being LIED to.

Based upon what I am seeing, ABC is just as much in the tank for Obama as CNN, NBC, and CBS, only to throw him under the bus to McCain in the fall.

Thanks so much, Dean!

Is there any live feed over the web?

After PA there will be about 400 elected delegates up for grabs. And Hillary will be still be down by around 140-150 elected delegates at least. Assuming Oregon and North Carolina delegate awards are split 50-50, Hillary has to win just about ALL the remaining elected delegates to catch up to Obama.

Yep ... and there is that pesky issue of disenfranchising Michigan and Florida. Since he obviously doesn't believe he can win in a revote in either state against her, I am following his lead, and I'm not going to vote for him either! Oh wait, I already did that in Ohio ;)

Posted by: beebop | Apr 16, 2008 7:01:02 PM

TCG,

I agree with you. We have to see major mud on Obama's face for the race to tighten any further. Bittergate is not doing it, unless we see at least 15 points out of PA (the very high side of my projection), and the flow-through is higher in other rural states.

I'm curious on what the affect of the news about his $4.2 million jackpot last year will be, but I don't think it will cause much of a bump.

Hillary hasn't played BitterGate well enough in my opinion. She should have handed off to surrogates sooner. At this point it all comes down to the ads. She has to sacrifice further likeability (and we know she's low in that realm) to do more damage to Obama. My sense is that it will work to create the differential in PA, but will it be big enough for WCM's projection to come true, remains to be seen.

Barack Obama, losing the election one bitter voter at a time!

I was just interrupted by a sales call from the Boston Globe. I'd recently cancelled my subscription due to their huge Obama bias. It got so that even though my family have been subscribers for over 50 years, their coverage was raising my blood pressure too high. So, one day I said to myself "I'm paying for this junk?" and cancelled my subscription.

Anyway, the young, sweet guy who was trying to get me to come back onboard with a 50 % rate reduction (no thanks), said "is it because they're so 'left' in their coverage? - 'cause I've been getting that a lot while making these calls."

Since Massachusetts has already called it for Clinton, it felt good to vote this time with my pocketbook.

Coincidentally, Newsweek sent me a renewal notice today. You should read what I told them they could do with their magazine and Jonathan Alter.

s. valenti: You're right on brother!

I'm with you 100%

Posted by: Mugsie | Apr 16, 2008 7:27:42 PM

ere are just a few.

1. I believe that Obama is incompetent and not qualified to be President.

2. In protest to the tactics of Obama supporters viciously attacking anyone who posts anything that causes Obama's divinity into question.

3. In honor of the people who suffered and died in "Obama's Slums"

There are many more reasons.

Those are just the first few that come to mind.

More is coming out in the Rezko trial this week. Again Obam cannot remember. He did not remember hearing Rev Wright. Obama is a cheating lawyer.

Where is the 8 year BO's Illinois senate records? You cannot get the truth from this man. He does the riffle shuffle. He is dealing from the bottom of the deck and keeps explaining with lies. Who can see this? It is so Easy to see if you have observed other elections.
The Republican media allows him to fool people because they want the Republicans to win.
Time to call Obama's bluff. Reveal your Senate records!
Read Chicago Sun, the Rezko trial places him in the company of Auchi the billionaire corrupt fraudster so Obama could get money from him to buy his home.
He should get out of the race because he is dividing our Democratic Party.

Posted by: John | Apr 16, 2008 7:54:53 PM

how come these candidates never discuss what type of bailout they are going to do for renters. All we hear about is bailout for banks and mortgage holders. Well because of this renters costs have skyrocketed

Posted by: | Apr 16, 2008 8:05:06 PM

I realize the majority bias has been from the media, but I got a call a couple nights ago from the Iowa Democratic party asking for a $100 donation. I told them no way. After a lenghty canned reply, they asked for $50. Absolutely not. In my opinion the democratic leaders are just as much at fault for the bias that has been for Obama and against Hillary. They could have done more to put it on a fair level playing ground. I will not give them another red cent and I am officially chaning to an indpendent. Their ineptness has really opened my eyes and John McCain is honestly looking better and better. He is definitely more towards the center than Obama, the most liberal Senator. The dems can paint him Bush 3 all they want, but I do see differences.

Posted by: JL | Apr 16, 2008 8:07:01 PM

How come the candidates never talk about amnesty. You know amnesty for the people who hired illegals. Everyone goes after the illegal aliens but meanwhile they never go after the people who hired them. In new york for example 1.3 million people have hired illegal nanniers and nobody goes after them
.

Posted by: Sam, Texas | Apr 16, 2008 8:08:19 PM

What about all the voters who did not come out to vote in Florida and Michigan because the two canidates, as well as the DNC, told them their votes wouldn't count?

Aren't THEY going to be disenfranchised?

ABC gets right on the bitter band wagon. What a weak position Hillary has to try and get this guy's goat. She blew her chance a long time ago.

Posted by: tombo | Apr 16, 2008 8:13:45 PM

Why is it ok for him to make mistakes like that and expect us to forgive and understand. Yes, Clinton lied, but she didn't litterally insult anyone. Let's see his justification for it. Wait, Washington, he is in Washington as a Senator. He is part of the problem!!

Posted by: Sam, Texas | Apr 16, 2008 8:13:57 PM

Lying to you isn't insulting you? Man, that is really a lame excuse to vote for her.

Posted by: Rick | Apr 16, 2008 8:16:00 PM

ABC latest poll is a sham..just when they sense that Obama momentum has stopped they come up with a poll that has nothing to do with 'BITTER WHITE POOR AMERICAN IN SMALL TOWNS" or "REVEREND WRIGHT"

Posted by: Antonn | Apr 16, 2008 8:16:20 PM

Transparency? Isn't that what he said he wanted to be? I wish ABC would let the issue die. This is pathetics!! This is a tabloid debate.

Posted by: Sam, Texas | Apr 16, 2008 8:17:24 PM

I am an obama fan and his first response to bitter was just o.k

Hillary doesn't think that if your going through a hard time that you don't tUrn to GOD well honey for all my trials and tribulations he is the one person I DO TURN TO THE MOST!! FOR MY CONSTANT ASSURANCE THAT WE WILL SURVIVE.
THAT I CAN GET THROUGH THIS WITH HIS HELP. WE COUNT ON OUR PAST TO BRING US OUR FUTURE.
OBAMA WHO HILL SAID WOULD BE A GOOD PRESIDENT!!!!!

Posted by: Lauren | Apr 16, 2008 8:23:12 PM

She wants to put this jumping on "bitter" as a Republican issue? She's is passionate alright. She'll be out selling her speech time just like Bill did for millions. I would like both her and her husband to just take a bow and get off the stage.

"HOW COME SENATOR CLINTON CANNOT ANSWER A QUESTION WITHOUT ATTEMPTING TO ATTACK SENATOR OBAMA IN HER REBUTTAL TO THE QUESTIONS ASKED"

this is why she will lose, he talks about issues and she talks about him. He used poor language about why folks are bitter, she fabricated a story about being shot at and repeated it many times b4 she got caught. the choice is clear between them.

Posted by: bob | Apr 16, 2008 8:23:49 PM

He is starting too slowly, but these are all shots at him...when will they get to Bosnia gate?

Posted by: Brian | Apr 16, 2008 8:25:14 PM

Now, this is one issue that will haunt him no matter what. I do hate that they brought it up again. By the way, I do not think his speech was historic. It was a stump speech. Give it when you are not running for President of the United States.

Posted by: peter jacobs | Apr 16, 2008 8:27:37 PM

I'm a republican for 30 years and I would vote for anyone who could change the status quo in Washington. If it's Obama, then so be it. He needs to start realizing that the National Athem and other things are still important to some of our good citizens. If he feels that song and that flag need some work, I can't disagree, but it doesn't feel good to many in America. So I guess we'll spend this entire debate on Rev Wright and the Bitter Americans?

Posted by: tombo | Apr 16, 2008 8:28:32 PM

If he recinded the invitation, as Gibson re-asks the question, why doesn't he share the reason with us???????

Posted by: s. valenti | Apr 16, 2008 8:28:36 PM

Thank God, Gibson asked the audience not to applaud. The serene atmosphere makes it much more easier to concentrate on the debate, rather than engage in a cheerleading match.

Posted by: sam | Apr 16, 2008 8:28:50 PM

This is not a debate. It is a Clinton campaign stop with help from ABC anchors.

Disgusting.

He will never get called on his lies. Any other candidate would but him. No one has the __________ to question him. That's why he has placed himself so high on a pedastal, he knows he can't be touched. Too bad he didn't fight a fair fight like an honorable man.

Posted by: Lan | Apr 16, 2008 8:34:01 PM

I am totally disgusted by the ridiculous lines of questioning by the
ABC commentators. We are not interested in pinning remarks on people and making them squirm and discuss ad nauseum these remarks. We are interested in the candidate's positions on Iraq, the economy. We are sick of dirty, demeaning politics and the media who pander to the lowest common denominator.

Posted by: S. Smith | Apr 16, 2008 8:34:06 PM

Bill Clinton, do we really need THEM in tthe White House again?

Posted by: Brian | Apr 16, 2008 8:34:51 PM

If the candidates don't address campaign finance reform and electronic voting machines vs. paper machines (what? we don't have time to hand count ballots for arguably the most powerful position in the world?!), not much beyond this matters. I don't trust anyone who has to raise so much money anymore. Neither do I trust electronic voting machines as being dependable/not available for manipulation and/or fraud.

Posted by: ofbyandforthepeople | Apr 16, 2008 8:34:56 PM

Why don't they ask questions about real issues and candidate plans instead of focusing on a few mistatements in the candidates past?
This isn't candidates debating each other, this is the hosts being confrontational with the candidates!
This so-called "debate" is truly a wasted opportunity - thanks alot ABC!

Wake up America,We are hearing the same retoric from both parties. They always make promises that can't be kept. In all the president election cycles ask yourself has rhe USA gotten better or worse. It doesn't take a mathemetician to see that capitalism will eventually fail. You are being taxed out of your homes. In America you should never lose your home that was in your family for your lifetime. What right does the government have to take it all away from you after you have paid taxes on it all your life. You do not really own your home.Remember tax freedom day? It used to be January & now its in May. If you would just figure the increases since the tax was put into place & take them hypothetically another lifetime you will see that this system is unsustainable

Obama makes some comments about McCain I think don’t pave much new ground, then plugs his considerable political talents re McGovern and Dukakis. Comparison is not apt, he said, because I'm a pretty darn good politician. I think and I can give a pretty good speech and I can connect and inspire the American peIople in ways that have become apparent. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t pretty good at mix“ ing it up

I have been a democrat all my life, but will be voting Republican this election. What about rising prescription costs and reduced medical insurance benefits, high gas and grocery costs. Our ever growing drug problem that is taking over every city and town in America and no one is talking about?

Question what does either candidate plan to do about regulating insurance companies when it comes too rules concerning servies and medications? When are they going to be reeled in and stopped from making the rules up as they go? Is there any plan too make laws that really and truly help the working class, that does'nt contain lupe holes for these organizations to use to back out of doing the right thing buy the people WHO REALLY MAKE AMERICA STRONGE¡

in this Primary election. And why waste campaign money to win the peoples votes if
their votes really do not ultimately decide who will be our Democratic nomination? This is frustrating to me as well as many others.
