Obama Says He'd Consider Gore for Cabinet

Ap_gore_obama_080402_mn_2   ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports: While campaigning at a townhall in Wallingford, Pennsylvania, Wednesday afternoon, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., received an intriguing question.

"On global warming," a woman asked the Democratic candidate, "would you bring Al Gore in to a cabinet position to deal with the issue?"

Obama said he would consider the former vice president and 2000 Democratic nominee for a cabinet position, and also offered up another simple promise.

Watch the VIDEO HERE.

"Not only will I, but I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this problem. He’s someone that I talk to on a regular basis, I’m already consulting with him in terms of these issues," Obama said.

Obama has said in the past that he speaks with Gore often.  Both Obama and Hillary Clinton, D-NY., are actively pursuing Gore's support. As an influential superdelegate, Gore's support could sway the opinions of other Democratic superdelegates who may ultimately decide which candidate will become the Democratic nominee.

Let's see...Obama and Clinton would hire Gore? Wow, what a revelation! Just about as shocking as if I put my Yorkie in his yard for a couple of hours, he'll come in with fleas......My Dad used to have a pet saying where he'd tell someone they were "as predictable as a Massachusetts Democrat". He was almost right. Democrats are predictable, in general.

DMK - Yeah!!!!! and Bill Clinton has been the only Democrat re-elected to a full 8 year term in almost 50 years!

When did the the Democrats start eating their own?

Those years have nothing to do with Hillary being better than OBAMA.

GO OBAMA!

Maybe someone should point out to Gore and Obama that thirty years ago the scientific community was claiming the world would end in a little ice age. Wonder how that turned out? Why check with Obama and Gore of course. Or check with real world temperatures which show this is the coldest and most snow year on record in last thirty years. Over to you Obama and Gore.

Gore better put Obama in his lock box, I hope no one ask Obama anything about religion because the next thing we might hear is that Jesus will be part of his cabinet.

Obama is such a phony, funny I saw a interview with Gore and his wife just recently on TV and he sure did not act as if he was speaking to Obama on a regular basis as a matter of fact he told the interviewer that he wanted no part of being a peace broker in this race.

Maybe this is just another tale of Obama's and give him a couple of days he will then tell the public this is not what he said .

Looks like Edwards is out and Gore is in! That will make two canidates that can't win!

I can't believe Obama. He is such a jerk. Maybe Obama could be in Gore's cabinet. What an ego Obama has. Please I hope he loses.

HILARY CLINTON IS NOW IN THE RACE, NOT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES FACING AMERICA, BUT TO JUST PROVE THAT SHE IS A CLINTON (“GOING ALL THE WAY”). SHE'S REALLY MADE A FOOL OF HELSELF BY COMPARING HERSELF TO ROCKY, A FICTIONAL CHARACTER. OBAMA IS THE RIGHT MAN, AND EXPERIENCED POLITICIANS HAVE RECOGNIZED THAT QUALITY IN HIM.

To anyone who can honestly objective, this is concrete evidence that Obama will do or say anything to get elected. He is dragging Gore into the middle of this when he clearly stated he wanted no part in it.

Why would Al Gore be some underling to an Obama administration when he rejected running for president in the first place?

Obama has become PATHETIC.

Once again the junior senator is making presumptions. Why would a man of Al Gore's stature want to work for someone who hasn't a clue what he's doing? Gore needs another job with the federal government like he needs another ruling from the US Supreme Court! He can be much more effective on the world stage without being attached to one of the most internationally disrespected countries on the ever-warming planet. As far a I can tell Obambi's spew of hot air only contributes to the problem.

Hillary is in the race because she is getting votes and winning primaries.
Can Obama explain how Gore is change?

Can anyone but kool-aid drinkers claim Obama will win PA especially after his statement that a baby is punishment.

As a political analyst, I am quite convinced that the protracted rivalry within the Democratic presidential campaign, which has, for the most part, been instigated by Hilary Clinton’s insistence on “going all the way”, could only amount to political suicide for the Democratic Party. This, of course, in turn, would cost the Democrats not only the November election, but also would lead o the disenfranchisement of the next generation and those who feel neglected by history in this country. In this campaign, it has become obvious that Obama represents the voice of the youth and those who are tired of the old system and its politics of cronyism, and are craving real change in the political landscape in this country. On the other hand, Hilary Clinton represents mostly the working-class who nostalgically clings to the memories of the economic boom of the 90’s, the repeat of which, from an economic standpoint, is quite unlikely, given the gargantuan tasks ahead, such as, how to end the war in Iraq and Afghanistan (Which some people seem to have forgotten about. America has some 20,000 troops stationed there), and the existence of major international players such as China and India, whose demands for oil and other resources make the repeat of the 90’s nothing more than a just wishful thinking and a pipe dream. America needs an overhaul in its political scene, something that only a new voice that reflects the aspirations of the new generation can achieve. A personality whose charisma can rally people together and can bring about renewed hope. Of course, the word ‘Change’ can sometimes be frightening to some, simply because it might mean letting go of the old habits, which often die hard. However, judging by the state in which America has found itself, thanks to the current Administration’s abrasive policies, both home and overseas, change is inevitable and this can only lead to building a better and stronger America. America and Americans can not afford getting stuck in these political bickerings and divisive policies of ‘Us’ and ‘Them’ while countries like India and China are rising as the new politico- economic powerhouses.

hopeful: Just because Hillary has a little cash flow problem why does that make her disqualified to be president! How does that make her different than millions of americans who are goint through the same struggle, paying the mortgage, filling up their cars, buying food, and paying for health care! Because she has had to struggle like the rest of us to make ends meet makes her more in touch with working americans and the economic problems that they have. So instead of a liability I think that her hardships have made her more qualified to turn around the economic problems of this country! We feel her pain and she feels ours!

Obama is too kind to offer Al Gore a spot. This is surely the tail wagging the dog.

Its aarogant, and a way to get Obamas name associated with Gore . Im certain big Al doesnt appreciate Obama trying to get a back door association after Gore refuses to endorse him in the first place.

Obama has used every single tactic I have ever heard of to get the nomination.

Posted by: tomdavie | Apr 2, 2008 3:30:21 PM

I don't know about you but I want to vote for the person who has the most money in their campaign coffers! That must mean that they are more qualified, who wants a president who has anything in common with the average american! And they call Hillary supporters dumb!

Posted by: russell | Apr 2, 2008 3:30:23 PM

Doesn't it sound like he's just sucking up to voters and will say what they what to hear to get their votes? I think he's losing some of his shine, he used to sound original now he sounds like a regular politician who will say or do anything to get votes.

OBAMA IS GIVING AWAY JOBS HE DOES NOT HAVE TO GET SUPERDELEGATES.
GUESS WHAT, GORE AINT GONNA FALL FOR THIS.

Let's see what Hillary has to say about this one. Gore served with her husband for eight years. Gore has the experience she keeps yapping about. He was in office and knows about the possibility of the famous 3:00 a.m. call. Bravo, Obama!!!!!!!
