Rice Shoots Down VP Rumors

ABC News Kirit Radia Reports: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice poured cold water on rumors that she was angling for the vice presidential spot on presumptive Republican nominee John McCain's White House bid.

"I do not want to be, don't intend to be, won't be on his ticket," she told the Associated Press in an interview in Alabama today where she received an honorary degree from Air University at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base.

"It's time for me to do something else," she added, saying she would return to Stanford University after the Bush administration leaves office next January.

Rice praised Sen. McCain, of Arizonia, as "an amazing man" with "great intellect" but said the last time she spoke with him was last month after his passport file had been breached.

Speculation that Rice was lobbying for the VP job swirled after Republican strategist Dan Senor said on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos that "Condi Rice has been actively, actually in recent weeks, campaigning for this."

It was later revealed that Rice delivered a speech to an influential conservative group and separately addressed other issues such as race that are typically beyond her foreign policy portfolio as Secretary of State. Her spokesman consistently denied she would do anything other than return to teaching.

Rice did, however, leave the door open to eventually returning to public life. In the past Rice's name has been floated as a possible candidate for political positions in California.

"We'll see in a few year's what I do. But I -- this is not the time for me," she told the AP.

She will run with Mac if she thinks it is necessary for a win. The polls show Mac and Rice will win over either Dem candidate ... especially NObama.

I think that Secretary Rice made the right decision, and on behalf of the Goverment of St Kitts and Nevis, I wish her the best of luck as Stanford University. The unwillingness of the US Department of State has lead to the worst relationship we have had since 1982. We are at the point of considering breaking diploamtic relations - if necessary - to get her attention. Finally, she has done something right!

Condie Rice has allowed herself to get caught up into felony charges filed against me in the USA in regard to my offical acts. My speech was used in Moscow by her to alomst start a Nuclear War. The desire to put me in prision has alomst lead to COCAINE being spread all over the Carrbibean. I wish Dr. Rice
could understand that no nation, no matter how small, deserves to be treated with the disrespect done to my ggoverment by her adminstration.

THANK GOD...She wont run..She is the worst Secretary of State in 232 years. She needs to go back to her third grade reading class. The only reason she got the job she has is because she is black. She has not done one thing productive since she got the job but fly around the world in her Boeing-747 and and have photo op's. THANK GOD for small favors she is going back to the land of FRUITS and NUTS.We will never hear from her again.AMEN..

Why is the woman treated like a rock star? She is an utter and complete failure! She was NEVER qualified to be National Security Adviser. She had not one day of experience, training or education in Law enforcement, No military experience, no time at the FBI or CIA. Yet Chimp-In-Chief plucks her from Academia obscurity for that job.

We all saw the fruits of her labor on 9-11. Then she giggles her way through the 9-11 commission hearings right in front of victims families. What doe she get for all of that? A reprimand? A demotion? Hell no! She gets PROMOTED to one of the most important jobs in the US government, SOS.

She's a big success here too aint she? No middle east peace plan, no solution for Iran and still no success with North Korea, only stalling. She would have sunk McCain's bid. Only Bush or Cheney would have been worse running mates than this lying, incompetent beetch.

As one of the biggest brown-nosing, yes-men in the Bush administration whose influence over foreign policy consists solely of nodding and smiling when Bush speaks, having her on the ticket would be a deal-breaker for me. She's a cypher in the government now and while the VP isn't exactly supposed to be seen or heard, given McCain's age, there is a statistical probability that, had she been picked as running mate, she could have become President. As far as I'm concerned, she lacks the intestinal fortitude, firmness of character and strength of will to hold that position. She is a follower, not a leader and not presidential, or even vice-presidential material. I'm still waiting to see who McCain picks as Veep before making up my mind about for whom I will vote. But at least this executive rear-end-kisser is off the list.

I'm sorry, but exactly what has Condi Rice done to place herself in the #2 position a heartbeat from the Presidency? She has clearly accomplished nothing as Secty of State and was a terrible National Security advisor. Does she know our borders have been overrun and are wide open since she came into public office? I hope she goes to Stanford, does not harm that institution, and can stay.

I was hoping Stanford wouldn't take her back. She's been a disgrace to the university.

She would be an awesome vicepres. I mean, if someone who is a Marxist can be considered for CinC, why not a Patriot?

Condoleezza Rice would make a great Republican VP
McCain is blowing his chance!!

He's from "Arizonia"?

Wow, I really did not believe that we still had that many rascists around, my goodness. If Condi was not a good sec state, I am fine with that, why the race stuff. Was George Bush a bad president because he was white. No, the answer is that he was not qualified in the first place, it has nothing to do with his skin color, my goodness, but you fools still voted him in just the same. Oh, I forgot, George is also dumb and dumb does not have a color

If McCain wins, he would be well-served to clean house of all the Bush/Cheney ilk and yes-men/yes-women throughout the Executive branch.

We have to get past race, it is a red herring of an issue. There is still more that binds than divides. We need to pursue those issues that we have in common and there are many. The race stuff stops us from getting anything done. There is alot of middle ground that can be worked to all of our benefit. I hope we can find a way to take advantage of that fact. If we don't, we will lose the country to special interests, particularly corporate interests. They throw the red meat of race on the fire everytime they think we might threaten their position and we bite every time, while they steal us blind, ship our jobs out, take our pensions, and depress salaries with any worker (black, brown, white, green) that they can find that will work for less than us. You think they care about race? Think again. The mass majority of Americans had better wake up and smell the coffee. Dump the race crap, this is about a re-distribution of the world's wealth and the common man in America, regardless of race is losing. Wake up.

Condi became Secretary of State BECAUSE she's a "yes-man." Just as GW isn't smart enough to be President (but seriously stupid enough to be a puppet) having Condi as Secretary of State allowed the people who are REALLY running our government (Wolfowitz, Rove, et al.) to have a free hand, unencumbered by a Secretary of State that would stand up for the truth.

"this is not the time for me"... yea, that's because you've phukct up this country way to badly, and it takes most americans a few years (or at least a few months) to forget about things like lying and violating the constitution...
