Senate Honors War Dead: 264 Pages, 4,009 Names
April 03, 2008 3:17 PM
ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf Reports: The Senate took a quick break from the Foreclosure Prevention Act Thursday,to vote on a resolution honoring members of the military killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The resolution, which is assumed to get unanimous support and was offered by Sen. Teddy Kennedy, (D-Mass.), is simple enough, reading: "The Senate honors the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have lost their lives in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and honors their families and loved ones."
The idea may be simple, yet the text of the resolution goes on for 264 pages; that is how much paper it takes to list the 4,009 names of soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines killed in Iraq and 487 names of American servicemen and women killed in Afghanistan.
See it here.
Why today? The Senate was out of session when US deaths reached the 4,000 milestone.

Bush and Cheney should have every single page on the wall of their bedrooms, and be required to read from it every night before sleeping and every morning before starting work.

What about he unlisted names who are dying along with their familes everyday from exposure to depleted uranium? Where is their memorial? If congress gave two cents about the troops like they claim; They'd give them and they're families FULL medical coverage, and benefits and END these godforsaken wars. (Just wait til' IRAN) THAT'S how you "support" the troops!!! Don't believe me, just ask one. Their children and their husbands didn't sign up to be exposed to toxic waste. Where is the politicans false pity and orchestrated sympathy for them? Actions speak louder than pathetic little words.

These soldiers, sailors,Airmen, and Marines gave their lives so people can post the rude comments that the main stream media is printing, they gave there all with out the draft, doesn't that mean anything at all anymore. No one has made any of these soldiers to join, they joined knowing that they could loose their lives for this cause of Freedom. So the next time you sprew your hate filled comments think about these young men and women who died to allow you to do it.

Isn't is time to bring our honored service men and women home. NOW! Not in a box!

We could use them to, oh I don't know... Protect OUR borders! Silly me, I grew up thinking that the US military was meant to protect America! But then again, I went to public school. I guess they teach that the Army is meant to preserve, protect, and defend the self interest of the corporate EMPIRE, rather than this very country.

What a bunch of pathetic hypocrats. They don't care one whit about those honored dead. This is a election year political stunt, pure and simple. If they cared about these people and their families, they would do everything to ensure the Iraq War is one successful. Instead, democrats want a defeat in Iraq. They want this to be a waste. How does that honor the fallen?

What about all the lives lost during Clinton/Gore? They were a waste. What did we gain in Somalia? Dead Rangers, America cuts and runs when there are casualties. That was the lesson.
