Soldier Plays for a $1 Million with Bush on His Side
April 18, 2008 7:28 PM
ABC News' Vija Udenans reports: If the President of the United States sends you a "good luck" message as you compete on a national game show, does that unnerve you or give you a competitive edge?
Capt. Joseph Kobes, 29, a U.S. Army transportation officer, just might have an added good luck charm when he competes on NBC's game show "Deal or No Deal" Monday evening.
President Bush has taped the video thanking Kobes for his service in Iraq and wishing him good luck on the program that offers the potential to win $1 million if he chooses the correct briefcase. The president's video clip will be shown on the show. The show's producers had contacted the White House to let them know that Kobes thought of Bush as "one of his heroes."
Kobes, of Sumner, Wash., has served three tours of duty in Iraq since March 2004. He received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained when the truck in which he was riding was blown up. He has just re-enlisted with the Army for three more years and is in military training in Virginia.

N how do you know what he thinks, feels or believes?
How do you know what role he has provided in the military ?
How can you condemn a man based on his job.
I do not support war but I can not say we did not need to assist the Iraqi people in getting rid of Saddam. I also believe the world will be a better place once we have Bin Laden.
You imply this man is some rampant murderer based on what.
Why would you assume he doesn't care about the economy and health issues.
I can only assume that you have not travelled broadly as the USA is far from a police state.
You are combining a number of issues that have no direct correlation in this instance.
I am a teacher but I see a number of peoplewith unheralded jobs who each day contribute towards the betterment of others. Efforts that are repeated by many Americans overseas.
Military service does not automatically equate with murder, ignorance or apathy.

The words of these anti-bush ranters should send a clear warning to all sensible people.
You don't have to consider him a hero or even support the iraq war to see how the far-left/moveon/obama folks have completely lost it.
They are even mroe dangerous than the extreme right wing crazies.

N,
Good luck Capt. Kobes. I hope he win the million!

He'll win because it's rigged. Everybody loves a feel good, all American apple pie story.
After Bush shows his face, he'll have to put up the million himself (enter taxpayers money). After ABCs performance at the latest presidential debates, I know where this is headed.
Just remember I told ya so when he wins.
Unfortunately, I've never watched this game show (or any). But I'm sure it will be all over the news. Another photo op for the divider, bush.

Carolina,
What do Clinton and Obama have to do with this post?
and
Stan,
Um, the article states clearly that "Deal or No Deal" is on NBC. What does the debate have to do with anything?
