Bill Clinton: 'It'd Be a Shame to Do All This Work and Not Win'

May 02, 2008 6:55 PM

ABC News’ Sarah Amos reports: As Bill Clinton continues on what will be his final primary tour of Indiana, he is connecting with small towns across the state, making the argument that his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), is the best Democratic candidate come November.

"She can win this thing,” Clinton told a gymnasium full of Hoosiers in Greenfield late this afternoon. “The last national poll had her running nine points ahead of senator McCain, seven points better than her opponent in the primary. A lot of polls have her winning and him [Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.)] losing. She runs better in Florida, better in Ohio, better in Pennsylvania, better in West Virginia, better in Arkansas, better in Kentucky and better in Missouri. If we win those votes, this election won't be close. It'd be a shame to do all this work and not win.

"The only way she can win is if Indiana says yes to her. If you say yes to her she can win," the former president added.

Bill Clinton went on to use a bit of history, reminding the crowd that the states his wife has won are many of the same states he carried in his re-election campaign.

"But if she wins the popular vote, and she's already gonna win two thirds of the electoral votes that I won in 1996, she can be elected president, and we can change this country."

President Clinton:

For some reason, the DNC and quite a few Democrats are obviously jealous of Hillary's and your popularity and success among voters.

Regardless of whether Hillary is declared the nominee in November, your work will not be in vain.

Democratic voters are just beginning to understand the damage that an Obama presidency could do.

Thankfully, the convention is about three months away and the national election is still about six months away.

That is plenty of time for the real Obama to emerge... and be defeated.

By the way...thanks.

Senator Clinton is enjoying a temporary bump in the polls, but her support of the "gas tax holiday" and shipping jobs to China will come back to bite her!

I predict a small Clinton Win or a small Obama win in Indiana, and a 9-12 point victory for Obama in North Carolina. Should Obama sweep, Hillabeans will almost certainly be forced to drop out by falling donations and a tide of supers to Obama's side.

Since when has the will of the voters ever mattered. Come on Hilliary and Bill save us from ourselves! After all we've only had a Clinton or a Bush in Pres. or VP since 1980. Who needs democracy, when you can have a de facto monarchy. 28 years deserves another 4 to 8, right. I mean it's not like anybody else in the whole country knows better than Bush or Clinton, right. Surely 28 years of being the establishment has done great things for the US. Being with the loss of jobs, globalisation, and eroding borders. And financing our ever increasing empire overseas with unlimited wars. Why spend those dollars at home and rebuild our economy when we can subsidze corrupt regimes overseas, allowing their people to plot and carry out attacks back here as revenge for our support of their oppressors. How foolish of we to want to rebuild our own country and mind our own business. Don't forget the canidates REAL slogan:"WAR IS PEACE... FREEDOM IS SLAVERY... IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH... Just keep on repeating...

Notice, back before PA, the talking heads on TV were all calling IN the tiebreaker, as the expected Hillary to take PA and Barak to take NC. Now that Barak is in trouble in IN.. and maybe in NC too, the talking heads are doing the same thing as they did before PA.. try to come up with some arbitrary number that Hillary has to "beat" Obama by in order to "stay in the race". LOL. And they accuse her of moving goal posts.

Hillary and Bill-keep on doing what you do. We LOVE you and know you'll lead the country in the right direction.

Looking forward to Madame President.

"It'd be a shame to do all this work and not win."

Well gee wiz Bill, I like ya and all, but I'm not voting for your wife on the basis of a guilt trip or feeling sorry for all the work you put in. You could say the same thing about the 200+ years of work put into this country and that won't stop the corporations from ripping it apart

Posted by: robert | May 2, 2008 7:28:06 PM

We appreciate everything you are doing Hillary and Bill! Let's see, in the last few days Obama woke up after a 20 year slumber in his racist, ranting, very loud church and realized that his beloved spiritual mentor and advisor is a racist. That would be enough to get any regular candidate to leave the race, but messiah Obama walks on water and the DNC is now the ONC - Obama National Committee. It must be a huge gravy train Obama is running. Let's see where we are, shall we? In the last few days, they've called a voter registration effort by a well-known bipartisan group voter suppression, circulated a petition trying to split the party along racial lines, and are now pushing a doctored video clip. What will Obama's campaign resort to tomorrow? Another day of Hope and Change! Welcome to Obama's Washington.

Hillary 08!

Bill has to understand that America needs a new leadership farway from the old politics. He can cry, scream and be ashamed, but there is no way to go back in the 1990s. Hill the Bosnian General is unelectable. God bless America and God bless Obama.OBAMA08.

earl -- the wright thing was totally staged ... he did his thing, Obama got to denounce him just in time...and the exit stage left. If he was really trying to "bring him down" he would still be talking ...yet here we are days later and no response from the spurned Rev Wright....

DMK, I would say half the country believes that. Most don't want to go back to the 90's and old politics. Most don't want the Bush and Clintons dynasties to continue. Here is Hillary pandering with this gas tax to get your vote, while Obama is telling us the truth about it. And he could even lose votes over this. That is new leadership caring more about the country than getting votes.

Jeremiah Wright has pulled the wheels off of Obama's campaign bandwagon. Rookie U.S. Senator Obama should not have threw him under the bus after claiming that he could no more disown him than he could the black community and his own grandmother.

Hillary WILL win, Bill! She's by far the smarter, stronger, and more competent candidate.

America needs someone who really will work for everyone- not just a fortunate few elite.

GO HILLARY!

Posted by: Emily | May 2, 2008 10:12:19 PM

First, I don't care if you think Hillary Clinton is part of a "dynasty" or not (I don't think 2 married people really make up a dynasty - though Obama supporters don't seem to mind being associated with the Kennedy Dynasty which was made up of many more than 2), she is the only one with the knowledge of issues, strength, and toughness to try and implement real change and beat the Republicans in November. Obama doesn't have the stomach for a real fight. Talking people into catatonia won't work.
Second, I continue to notice that even with everything that has come out showing Obama's real character, many of his supporters continue to blindly repeat his "change we can believe in" blah blah. I'm sorry, but many of them remind me of the Simpson's episode where they were all inducted into a cult and acted like little robots. The only response they have to counter the fact that HIllary is the better candidate is to continue to spew out the old stuff about Bill or dynasties. Anyone with an open mind who actually watched Obama's press conference Tuesday could tell he was totally over his head trying to answer difficult questions from the press. This man is just not qualified, let alone prepared mentally, to be President.
Last...I agree with the person who thinks the Obama/Wright falling out was staged. That is the first thing that crossed my mind, what better way to try and dump Wright in public since it was beginning to affect the polls before IN and NC. I don't believe a relationship of 20 years that provided Obama with his political foundation and so many connections has been ended, they are simply playing a political game. I also agree that if Wright were really mad, he would be talking again after being ripped in the national news like he Obama supposedly did. Maybe not, but very possible.

Hillary is right about the gas tav Holiday ! Obama is wrong... Most Americans don't live in an apartment with 1 small car. They might get a 30 dollar break. But Most Americans won homes & alot own 1 or more acres too, that can cost alot to mow at 4 dollars a gal. We have 5 acres & will cost us 40.00 dollars every time we mow. Then theres the garden tiller to till up a vegetable garden. The weed eater uses gas. The chain saw uses gas so we can cut the fire wood for the fireplace in cold weather cause propane is almost 3.00 a gal now, was 98 cents in 2001. And the log splitter to split that wood runs on gas. Most people would save way more, Obama is out of touch. And No jobs would get cut out on the road & bridge jobs cause the oil co's would pay the make up taxes, since their profits are so huge & it came from our pockets. Not to mention they aren't even planning to use that money to build a new refinery. Obama is just plain Wrong! Wrong for America !

Posted by: not fooled | May 2, 2008 11:36:32 PM

not fooled, sorry you are wrong. Read and listen to the news, educate yourself. Obama is not out of touch. He is looking out for all of us. Hillary knows this won't win in congress. But it makes her look good in the primaries. She thinks people or too ignorant to look into it.

Duh! Cheaper Gas means more travel. More travel means more burgers. sandwiches, coffe , sodas sold on the road. Cheaper gas means going on that camping trip you're about to cancel. Camping ground are looking more like cemetaries right now.Cheaper gas this summer makes for a snow ball effect and it helps everyone who caters to travelers. Makes sense to me! Obama you know nothing about life. You went to private schools. How do you know how we live? No experience even on little things that affect our daily lives.

If people are dumb enough to EVER elect another Clinton or Bush, they deserve exactly what they will get: Continued and unceasing corruption and the subtle hatred needed to meet the selfish needs of each and every family member involved in the charade being played out in front of the American people. Go for it! Suckers.

Senator Barack Obama's character and judgment have been brought into question regarding his erstwhile former pastor's misguided rants! I believe that it is indeed fair to question why he had remained a member of the congregation for twenty years and not leave. It is also fair to bring into question Senator Hillary Clinton's character and judgment when she chose to remain in her marriage to the former reckless president, William Jefferson Clinton. Why hasn't she been pressed into answering her motive for remaining in that "political relationship?" Her chances for winning the presidency would have been enhanced had she severed the relationship following his disgraceful and disrepectful display of recklessness!!!

Posted by: kru_man | May 3, 2008 2:06:15 AM

Shame on George, Charlie and ABC during the last Democratic primary presidential debate in Philadelphia! I believe that one of the tailor-made-for-Hillary questions posed to Senator Obama brought into question his refusal to wear a U.S. flag lapel. It was unfortunate that Senator Obama was not quick on his feet in his response. He ought to have asked the questioner: "In display of your patriotism for America, why aren't you wearing one?" Neither George nor Charlie was wearing one during the debate!!! One does not have to wear his/her patriotism on his/her collar!!! It's in your HEART. Go BARACK.

In reference to James from Titusville Pennsylvania. I live 40 miles North of you in Erie Pa., I have to agree with you and I voted for Hillary Clinton also. Hillary came to Erie, I wish I could of made it to Meadville to see Bill but had to work. If I recall Quaker State and Pennzoil moved out of your surrounding area, so did the Oilwell/US Steel plant and the Cyclops/Cytemp stainless steel plant. The Republican's only want to line their own pockets a reversal of Robin-hood; Steal from the poor so the rich can get richer

I am convinced that many of the so-called blue-collar workers who voted for and continue to support Hillary Clinton are out of touch with reality! This gas tax relief proposed by McBush and sanctioned by Hillary McClinton is a political gimmick being played to garner votes amongst this same voting block - yes, the so-called blue-collar workers. Like their saviour, they will fall for anything! This is an opportunity to usher in a new beginning in this country. America does not need a quick fix scheme for its energy policy. America needs sound energy policy that will make us less dependent on foreign oil to propel our economy. Let's look at the bigger picture that will bring a long-lasting relief and not a short summer quick fix scheme!

A president Barack Obama, in my mind, is going to be a whole lot better than what we have had on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue during the past 7+ years! Posters have been incensed on attacking Senator Obama's experience or lack thereof. And my question is: What type of experience did the then Gov. George Bush have when he assumed the office of president of the United States of America? He had zilch and relied on Mr. Cheney with all of his domestic and foreign policy experiences. Now 7+ years later, look at what they have given to America! We can do a whole better on January 20, 2009 with President Barack Obama!!!!

Posted by: kru_man | May 3, 2008 2:49:34 AM

No way am I voting for McSame McCain, does everyone forget the scandal of the Keating 5 that cost tax payers millions and millions of dollars? McCain ought to get Oliver North for Vice President so he can have an escape goat. McCain is on his second marriage at least the Clinton's pulled it together like any other president has done. I agree with James and the rest of you; "I want my comfortable lifestyle back too". I am going to vote for Hillary Clinton in North Carolina and I have alot of relatives in Indiana who are for Hillary Clinton and they will be voting for Hillary Clinton.

Posted by: Dewayne | May 3, 2008 2:51:11 AM

Obama does not have the Kennedy dynasty, only 2 (drunken, reckless driver Teddy and his neice Caroline). McCain should not be allowed to run for president after that Keating 5 scandal, he should be in jail along with Neal Bush and others. Robert Kennedy Jr. was side by side with Hillary Clinton just the other day in Indiana supporting her. Hopefully Robert Kennedy Jr. will be a Vice President to Hillary Clinton President. A ticket that reads Clinton/Kennedy a solid team that will bail us out of the Bush mess.

Posted by: big john | May 3, 2008 3:09:59 AM

Hey Geezer52; Hillary Clinton nor anyone else missed you the other day! LOL Like Bill O'Reilly said; even Obama or any other politician in a race to win gets a little carried away at times. Never mind Obama's middle name that is to be a secret now, never mind Obama's bewilderment in religion (Muslim, Atheist, Rev. Wright brain-washing), never mind Obama was practically raised on 2 different Islands, never mind Obama wants to pour tons of money into Kenya. Never mind where Obama is actually getting millions and millions of campaign funding from. Sorry, there is just too many "never minds" with Obama an unknown. Big money wants this guy in office for a reason; good ole boys, back room dealings. Obama would be another front man like George W. Bush and McSame McCane to silver line the elite pockets.

Posted by: Carol | May 3, 2008 3:37:48 AM

Clinton thinks she's got the blue-collar block all locked in, does she? On what basis? That we're too intellectually challenged to know when we're being lied to and duped? That we're so busy struggling to pay our bills that we won't have time to be angry and bitter at the American government for getting us into this mess in the first plaace? On what basis does Clinton claim my vote? Can she answer that? I think not.

Posted by: Kaelinda | May 3, 2008 4:39:09 AM

Obama has Rev. Wright baptize his second daughter in 2001 (same year the "God damn America" speech came out). Obama exposes his 2 daughters to that shocking Rev. Wright's sermons. Obama is also up rooting his wife and young children with this grinding campaign. If anyone should drop out of the race it should be Obama for his young childrens sake. This can not be healthy for his little girls, what kind of father is he? The well-being of Obama's children, an unstable home environment all worth an ego or narcisstic goal? Perhaps, that was how Obama was raised a bit abandoed. I felt sorry for Obama's girls during the hot heat the other day.

NAFTA like any other bill had the potential to work and it did for awhile. In child custody you have modifications (to make changes). It was up to the Bush administration to modify the NAFTA bill and make changes when necessary to keep it working. Instead, Bush states "I'm a WAR President", and that he is, unfortuately to the thousands and thousands he has slaughtered including our own soldiers who are coming back in body bags or half the human being they were when they left to go fight Bush's WAR.

Wow, for once I actually agree wholeheartedly with SlickBill on this one. It would be a shame if Obama were to lose after doing all this hard work. I mean after all, he's to only candidate on that side of the aisle who has, from the beginning, been running a clean campaign, organizing unbelievably intelligently in every state in the Union unlike his bumbling competition, raising more money through innovative techniques and the web, understanding how the primary process actually works, never re-defining what it means to be the preferred candidate, and just genuinely being the best Democratic candidate for President. So, come on folks, let's not waste all of Obama's hard work. Even SlickBill is for Obama, so now you even have his permission to vote for Obama.

Posted by: J. T. Bigglesworth | May 3, 2008 10:05:17 AM

Oh, and by the way, SlickBill, what's the hard work involved in always talking about the negative of your competition. The easiest thing in the world to do is to make up for one's own shortcomings not by fixing them or discussing them honestly, but by attacking perceived flaws in others. So I guess what I'm saying, SlickBill, is nobody is going buy your "After all the hard work ..." bull about HRC. The fact that she's turned in this campaign into a mudslinging contest indicates a whole lot about HRC, but being a hard worker is not one of them. Sorry, Slick, but take your sorry self back to the Arkansas hole you crawled out of.

Posted by: RandyRP | May 3, 2008 11:56:37 AM

not fooled?

I grew up in the country and do realise that you do use more gasoline than a city dweller.
If you estimate that you use 100 gallons of gasoline a month which is about what my family spends for mowing, tilling, general yard maintenance and transportation.
At $4 a gallon thats $400 a month.
Over the 3 months of the proposed gas tax holiday averages out to $1,200.
The savings on 300 gallons of gasoline would be a grand total of $54.

If you are wondering how that breaks down, It is simple mathmatics. 100 gallons of gas for 3 months equals 300 gallons. 300 gallons at $4 a gallon is $1,200. Gas tax is .18 for 300 gallons equals $54. So your gasoline bill for the summer will still cost you $1,144.

So even for the rural dweller the gas tax holiday is not what it seems.

The only shame is the way the Clinton's have driven divisiveness into the Democratic through a systematic strategy. Their strategy is divide and conquer. Democrats need to wean themselves from the Clintons. If elected they will drag this country through the mud (with the help of Republicans) just like last time and cause the same backlash that occurred in 1994.

Posted by: indy_voter | May 3, 2008 12:01:28 PM

Oops, bad fingers mistyped the final numbers in that post should be $1,146 not $1,144.

It seems to me that Obama has worked plenty hard and is doing a lot better than HRC. I don't think it would be a shame that he didn't win, it would be a crime.

Who is whining now Bill?

Posted by: Louis | May 3, 2008 12:11:09 PM

Us farmers and my brother the truck driver do use alot of gas and diesel fuel. To the guy who did the math on the holiday tax, multiply that number by 10's that, I would rather have the extra $540 in my pocket than the next guy. That savings will put school clothes on my childs back in September.

Reporters: The reporters in this country need a life. The propaganda they can sling out is unbelievable, I personally believe in "freedom of expression, speech and writing". When does it cross the line, invade peoples right to privacy, good name or just mind your own damn business? It was used after 9/11 where radio, television, newspapers and magazines kept showing the mass destruction in New York City over and over again (how many times did I have to watch those people jumping out of the twin towers to their death?). Then the fear factors driven into people, young and old to red alert, yellow alert, back up to orange alert, then red alert. Now that Bush and his cronies got the wars they wanted we live in green alert once again. Give the American people the "dooms day" crap your pants effect. Saddam was a tyrant like any other 3rd world leader. But if your going to beat up smaller country's and hang their tyrant leaders why stop in the oil country's? If your going to be a big bully to a few why not to all of them? Go to Cuba and hang Castro who should of been swinging back in the 60's, go to North Korea and let that little runt swing, go to Columbia, go to parts of Africa, WHY stop at the OIL Country's? REPORTERS appear to report only stories they think will sell not the whole truth. This election will be based on what reporter wants who to get the better coverage and the fight is among the reporters.

I'll tell YOU why Obama is inexperienced; YOU can NOT change anything as president if Congress and the Senate keep shooting his ideas, plans or anything down. Obama can not close the deals, he speaks well but not well enough. I like to see someone like Obama go up against a guy like Senator Robert Byrd and the old school type of politicians. If, Obama gets in and there is a Republican Congress and more of a Republican Senate, than Obama is no better than anyone else who gets elected. American people are Dreamers who are lost in a smoke cloud of B.S.!

Posted by: Ryan | May 3, 2008 2:54:03 PM

Obama is the changer we need? What is Obama going to do, go to the Congress and Senate with a machine gun or throw a temper tantrum to get his own way to get a Bill pass through? Obama's only competition right now is a single woman and he hasn't even gone up against McSame McCain and the Republicans yet. A young, inexperienced guy with 2 small children and a wife who has big dreams, big idea's is smoking too much weed these days (oh I forgot Obama said; "he gave up the drugs and smoking for now"). Well, what ever Obama is on....I don't want it, there is no 1 pill fix all solution to health care issues or any other issue. You have to be willing to try a holiday tax, it that don't work try something else. The NAFTA plan was working but the Bush administration never modified it or baby sat it properly and like the no student left behind BILL; you have to stay on top of a new Bill and keep making changes and modifications to allow it to work. Not pass a bill and let it ride into the dirt and say oh well get rid of it, lets pass new bills and blame it on someone or some lame reason.

To Gary,
Your comments about Mrs Reagan and Mrs. Carter helping to run the country is something I've never heard about and doesn't sound believable to me. However, GWB's wife proofreading for him, I can believe. None of these people were former presidents, and none were as strong, open mouthed and stubborn as Bill Clinton. She won't be answering the phone at 3:AM - it will be Bill. And he won't be saying: "Here honey, it's for you".

Sincerely, since this man called Bill Clinton did operation, he brain is now working anti-clockwise.

Which office is he contesting for? First man or President? its like Democrats have 3 candidates left in the race. (Bill Clinton, Barack Obama & Hillary Clinton)

Gee, it's a shame that Hillary thought she would be coronated and didn't have to really campaign to get the nomination.

She has run a LOUSY campaign and Obama has run a great campaign.

This is the clearest indicator of how each would run their administration.

She is OUT of MONEY and running on fumes, so she dangles the "gas tax holiday" that she used monies she's committed to something else to pay for it.

The Clintons will LIE, CHEAT and STEAL and do whatever it takes to steal this nomination from it's rightful winner.

Oh, yeah, I live in Florida and let's be clear, regardless of her claims, Clinton did not win Florida.

Please Hillary, do the classy thing, and fade into the sunset. To do this, however, without full-throated support for Obama will indicate your real feelings, you'd rather destroy the Democratic Party than not be it's nominee.

Jackson, It's not Sen. Obama that will have donation problems. It's you girl Hillary. Remember Sen. Obamas worked his campaigned form the bottom up, using small donors that contribute on average $109.00 mo. I'm sure that by the time the release funds raised for April Sen. Obama will be net postive about $30K.

And how can any one say that Hillary would do a good job in running this country when she can't even run her campaign. She has had to beg for money each time she did manage to win a state. She has had to borrow money from her personal funds. And she is yet to pay vendors for some of the meals she and her staff have eaten up while criss crossing the country. Oh, yes and don't forget that she can't even keep her staff in line nor does her super delegates trust her they seem to be jumping ship the same way her top fund raiser did.

You see Jackson it requires much of one to be a strong leader. And your girl is yet to demonstrate that she can make that happen. Now if the country ever have a position available for BULL SHITTERS then we can offer that to her or Bill either would do well in that position.

People keep bringing up "why did Hillary remain in a relationship with a cheating husband"? Especially one who so publicly embarassed her.

Well...it is simple. Unlike most Americans, including myself, she is honoring the sacred marriage vow that she made more than 30 years ago to forsake all others and stay with each other thru good and bad until "death do us part".

Sometimes it takes lots of courage to do that and she really has that!

I watched Bill Clinton give a speech standing in the back of a pickup truck in Fort Worth, Texas, on a mildly cold evening in a small park before the Texas Primary. I know he has made many, many such speeches for Hillary before that and also since then. I think that he is trying to make up now for some of the hurt that he caused her by working so hard to help her just as she spent years helping him.

Staying in a marriage for life does not compare with any other relationship that a person would have with any other person. At what point did Barack Obama make a sacred vow before God, family and friends to stay with Jeremiah Wright until death? And since he just decided to keep on staying in there, then he must believe some of the things that Rev.Wright and Wright's friend, L. Farakan believe. At the moment, we have no idea what crazy beliefs that he shares with them. But we can be pretty sure that some of Wright's "teachings" are in the head of Senator Obama.

PS Once Bill injected RACE into the race, they then new how easy it would be to get those white collar voter that don't or can't read well to follow their ploy. They knew that it would be easy to manipulate their mines and even evoke their racist thoughts, once they could get Rev. Wright into the mix of the campaign.

To Chuck

You said to Gary: "Your comments about Mrs Reagan and Mrs. Carter helping to run the country is something I've never heard about and doesn't sound believable to me."

It is absolutely true about Mrs. Reagan and Mrs. Carter. Maybe you need to study up on Presidential history a bit more. Mrs. Clinton was very instrumental in the work of the White house during the Clinton Administration as well. So was Mrs. Frankin Roosevelt during the Roosevelt administration.

This is from an old white woman from the Baby Boomer generation....not a dumb one though. Thanks to my BBA and MBA. Honors graduate as well. I think those statistics about the dumb old white ladies is crap. Millions of smart white people, men and women, as well as many smart black people are voting for Hillary.

You go, Sheila Jackson Lee! And Maya Angelou! And Mayor Nutter!

Go, Hillary!

You have to be a 20 year old or a far left radical to be 'inspired' by the Obama rhetoric anymore. His whole platform is stained by his past associations. His bittergate comments. His practicing Black Liberation Theology for 20 years.

He is unelectable. But this is the corrupt liberal media, they WONT ever dare show how unelectable he is.

Everyone has lost touch here. That Billy Boy is trying to get his wife in so he can be president for a 3rd time.
He needs a muzzle and a soft place to go where he doesn't bother anyone.

Posted by: waralan | May 4, 2008 6:36:25 PM

Hillary is up in the polls because Americans are recognizing we need a leader who is ready Day 1. We need a leader who has solutions that are researched and can be implemented. Obama twists her words to try to gain advantage and this will come back to haunt him. Hillary stood up for American workers and voted against the Nafta expansion bill in 2007. Her opponent joined the ranks of many republicans with his vote for Nafta.

BIG Hmmm, perhaps you might be onto something, how many people have risen to vote in the election against Hillary so far? Please do tell....

Posted by: Jilly | May 4, 2008 11:10:23 PM

Popular votes nationwide, have Hillary ahead. The question is will the DNC discount Florida and Michigan election results and cast out their votes. When their DNC rules and bylaws say that 50% of the delegates are seated, then Hillary has more delegates in both these states. Obama took his name off the ballot in Michigan, and he is a stickler for the rules, having gotten rid of all his opponents including his mentor in an Illinois race. So, I'm sure he'll agree to go by the rules that he is disqualified to have any delegates for Michigan. Now maybe he'll rethink Hillary's pushing for a revote in both these states.

Looks like the decision will go to the DNC convention. Neither candidate is able to achieve a decisive victory with their earned delegate counts. Obama won more states; Hillary won the bigger electoral states and is leading the popular vote. We await the outcomes of the remaining primaries over the next month.
