Bill Clinton: 'It'd Be a Shame to Do All This Work and Not Win'
May 02, 2008 6:55 PM
ABC News’ Sarah Amos reports: As Bill Clinton continues on what will be his final primary tour of Indiana, he is connecting with small towns across the state, making the argument that his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), is the best Democratic candidate come November.
"She can win this thing,” Clinton told a gymnasium full of Hoosiers in Greenfield late this afternoon. “The last national poll had her running nine points ahead of senator McCain, seven points better than her opponent in the primary. A lot of polls have her winning and him [Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.)] losing. She runs better in Florida, better in Ohio, better in Pennsylvania, better in West Virginia, better in Arkansas, better in Kentucky and better in Missouri. If we win those votes, this election won't be close. It'd be a shame to do all this work and not win.
"The only way she can win is if Indiana says yes to her. If you say yes to her she can win," the former president added.
Bill Clinton went on to use a bit of history, reminding the crowd that the states his wife has won are many of the same states he carried in his re-election campaign.
"But if she wins the popular vote, and she's already gonna win two thirds of the electoral votes that I won in 1996, she can be elected president, and we can change this country."

Hillary WILL win, Bill! She's by far the smarter, stronger, and more competent candidate.
America needs someone who really will work for everyone- not just a fortunate few elite.
GO HILLARY!

First, I don't care if you think Hillary Clinton is part of a "dynasty" or not (I don't think 2 married people really make up a dynasty - though Obama supporters don't seem to mind being associated with the Kennedy Dynasty which was made up of many more than 2), she is the only one with the knowledge of issues, strength, and toughness to try and implement real change and beat the Republicans in November. Obama doesn't have the stomach for a real fight. Talking people into catatonia won't work.
Second, I continue to notice that even with everything that has come out showing Obama's real character, many of his supporters continue to blindly repeat his "change we can believe in" blah blah. I'm sorry, but many of them remind me of the Simpson's episode where they were all inducted into a cult and acted like little robots. The only response they have to counter the fact that HIllary is the better candidate is to continue to spew out the old stuff about Bill or dynasties. Anyone with an open mind who actually watched Obama's press conference Tuesday could tell he was totally over his head trying to answer difficult questions from the press. This man is just not qualified, let alone prepared mentally, to be President.
Last...I agree with the person who thinks the Obama/Wright falling out was staged. That is the first thing that crossed my mind, what better way to try and dump Wright in public since it was beginning to affect the polls before IN and NC. I don't believe a relationship of 20 years that provided Obama with his political foundation and so many connections has been ended, they are simply playing a political game. I also agree that if Wright were really mad, he would be talking again after being ripped in the national news like he Obama supposedly did. Maybe not, but very possible.

Hillary is right about the gas tav Holiday ! Obama is wrong... Most Americans don't live in an apartment with 1 small car. They might get a 30 dollar break. But Most Americans won homes & alot own 1 or more acres too, that can cost alot to mow at 4 dollars a gal. We have 5 acres & will cost us 40.00 dollars every time we mow. Then theres the garden tiller to till up a vegetable garden. The weed eater uses gas. The chain saw uses gas so we can cut the fire wood for the fireplace in cold weather cause propane is almost 3.00 a gal now, was 98 cents in 2001. And the log splitter to split that wood runs on gas. Most people would save way more, Obama is out of touch. And No jobs would get cut out on the road & bridge jobs cause the oil co's would pay the make up taxes, since their profits are so huge & it came from our pockets. Not to mention they aren't even planning to use that money to build a new refinery. Obama is just plain Wrong! Wrong for America !

not fooled, sorry you are wrong. Read and listen to the news, educate yourself. Obama is not out of touch. He is looking out for all of us. Hillary knows this won't win in congress. But it makes her look good in the primaries. She thinks people or too ignorant to look into it.

Duh! Cheaper Gas means more travel. More travel means more burgers. sandwiches, coffe , sodas sold on the road. Cheaper gas means going on that camping trip you're about to cancel. Camping ground are looking more like cemetaries right now.Cheaper gas this summer makes for a snow ball effect and it helps everyone who caters to travelers. Makes sense to me! Obama you know nothing about life. You went to private schools. How do you know how we live? No experience even on little things that affect our daily lives.

If people are dumb enough to EVER elect another Clinton or Bush, they deserve exactly what they will get: Continued and unceasing corruption and the subtle hatred needed to meet the selfish needs of each and every family member involved in the charade being played out in front of the American people. Go for it! Suckers.

Mr Clinton,
Thank you for your hard works.
Keep healthy.
We are behind you.
Yes, we will.

Senator Barack Obama's character and judgment have been brought into question regarding his erstwhile former pastor's misguided rants! I believe that it is indeed fair to question why he had remained a member of the congregation for twenty years and not leave. It is also fair to bring into question Senator Hillary Clinton's character and judgment when she chose to remain in her marriage to the former reckless president, William Jefferson Clinton. Why hasn't she been pressed into answering her motive for remaining in that "political relationship?" Her chances for winning the presidency would have been enhanced had she severed the relationship following his disgraceful and disrepectful display of recklessness!!!

Shame on George, Charlie and ABC during the last Democratic primary presidential debate in Philadelphia! I believe that one of the tailor-made-for-Hillary questions posed to Senator Obama brought into question his refusal to wear a U.S. flag lapel. It was unfortunate that Senator Obama was not quick on his feet in his response. He ought to have asked the questioner: "In display of your patriotism for America, why aren't you wearing one?" Neither George nor Charlie was wearing one during the debate!!! One does not have to wear his/her patriotism on his/her collar!!! It's in your HEART. Go BARACK.

In reference to James from Titusville Pennsylvania. I live 40 miles North of you in Erie Pa., I have to agree with you and I voted for Hillary Clinton also. Hillary came to Erie, I wish I could of made it to Meadville to see Bill but had to work. If I recall Quaker State and Pennzoil moved out of your surrounding area, so did the Oilwell/US Steel plant and the Cyclops/Cytemp stainless steel plant. The Republican's only want to line their own pockets a reversal of Robin-hood; Steal from the poor so the rich can get richer

I am convinced that many of the so-called blue-collar workers who voted for and continue to support Hillary Clinton are out of touch with reality! This gas tax relief proposed by McBush and sanctioned by Hillary McClinton is a political gimmick being played to garner votes amongst this same voting block - yes, the so-called blue-collar workers. Like their saviour, they will fall for anything! This is an opportunity to usher in a new beginning in this country. America does not need a quick fix scheme for its energy policy. America needs sound energy policy that will make us less dependent on foreign oil to propel our economy. Let's look at the bigger picture that will bring a long-lasting relief and not a short summer quick fix scheme!

A president Barack Obama, in my mind, is going to be a whole lot better than what we have had on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue during the past 7+ years! Posters have been incensed on attacking Senator Obama's experience or lack thereof. And my question is: What type of experience did the then Gov. George Bush have when he assumed the office of president of the United States of America? He had zilch and relied on Mr. Cheney with all of his domestic and foreign policy experiences. Now 7+ years later, look at what they have given to America! We can do a whole better on January 20, 2009 with President Barack Obama!!!!

No way am I voting for McSame McCain, does everyone forget the scandal of the Keating 5 that cost tax payers millions and millions of dollars? McCain ought to get Oliver North for Vice President so he can have an escape goat. McCain is on his second marriage at least the Clinton's pulled it together like any other president has done. I agree with James and the rest of you; "I want my comfortable lifestyle back too". I am going to vote for Hillary Clinton in North Carolina and I have alot of relatives in Indiana who are for Hillary Clinton and they will be voting for Hillary Clinton.

Obama does not have the Kennedy dynasty, only 2 (drunken, reckless driver Teddy and his neice Caroline). McCain should not be allowed to run for president after that Keating 5 scandal, he should be in jail along with Neal Bush and others. Robert Kennedy Jr. was side by side with Hillary Clinton just the other day in Indiana supporting her. Hopefully Robert Kennedy Jr. will be a Vice President to Hillary Clinton President. A ticket that reads Clinton/Kennedy a solid team that will bail us out of the Bush mess.

hey Moe. have you been paying attention to any of GWB's news conferences the past eight years. we have yet to figure out what language he's attempting to speak...The only word that he can say with any clarity is "WAR".....
OBAMA 08

Hey Geezer52; Hillary Clinton nor anyone else missed you the other day! LOL Like Bill O'Reilly said; even Obama or any other politician in a race to win gets a little carried away at times. Never mind Obama's middle name that is to be a secret now, never mind Obama's bewilderment in religion (Muslim, Atheist, Rev. Wright brain-washing), never mind Obama was practically raised on 2 different Islands, never mind Obama wants to pour tons of money into Kenya. Never mind where Obama is actually getting millions and millions of campaign funding from. Sorry, there is just too many "never minds" with Obama an unknown. Big money wants this guy in office for a reason; good ole boys, back room dealings. Obama would be another front man like George W. Bush and McSame McCane to silver line the elite pockets.
Posted by: Carol | May 3, 2008 3:37:48 AM
Clinton thinks she's got the blue-collar block all locked in, does she? On what basis? That we're too intellectually challenged to know when we're being lied to and duped? That we're so busy struggling to pay our bills that we won't have time to be angry and bitter at the American government for getting us into this mess in the first plaace? On what basis does Clinton claim my vote? Can she answer that? I think not.
Posted by: Kaelinda | May 3, 2008 4:39:09 AM
Obama has Rev. Wright baptize his second daughter in 2001 (same year the "God damn America" speech came out). Obama exposes his 2 daughters to that shocking Rev. Wright's sermons. Obama is also up rooting his wife and young children with this grinding campaign. If anyone should drop out of the race it should be Obama for his young childrens sake. This can not be healthy for his little girls, what kind of father is he? The well-being of Obama's children, an unstable home environment all worth an ego or narcisstic goal? Perhaps, that was how Obama was raised a bit abandoed. I felt sorry for Obama's girls during the hot heat the other day.
