Clinton Loans Campaign Money...Again
May 07, 2008 9:26 AM
ABC News' Kate Snow Reports: ABC News can confirm that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., made three new loans of her own money to her campaign over the last month, two of them following her win in the Pennsylvania Democratic primary.
On April 11, Sen. Clinton loaned her campaign $5M; on May 1, she loaned $1M; and on May 5, loaned $425,000.
Insiders says Clinton "will continue to" loan money to the campaign.

Good for her if you can by a place on the ticket that is what Obama is doing so If it was ok for Kerry to put up his house then it is ok with me. if she loans her self money. Obama should have beat her good in IN but he can't close the deal.

So when she was runnin' around Indiana and North Carolina plumpin' herself as a Woman of the People and droppin' her g's and raggin' on money grubbers and elite experts, she had actually loaned herself $6 million from her personal bank account. Gee, wouldn't we all like to be such regular folks.

Bishop is in state 1.

I knew that $10million she was crowing about after the PA primary was bogus.
Posted by: Jason | May 7, 2008 9:49:15 AM
Obama can close the deal.. FYI votes are still being counted in Indiana.
Hillary only won Texas, Ohio and pennsylvana because of rush limbaugh's assistance.
Even he thinks Sen. Obama will be the nominee, the republicans benefit by the democrats fighting and wounding themselves..
Everyone sees that, except Hillary.

I think the money trails tell it all. While Rush has convinced people to vote for Hillary - they are not contributing to her campaign. Where people put there money is where you should follow. Obama has 1.5 MILLION donars and has continuted to raise a lot of money and energy!
Yes we can!

Jason: I agree, just another lie for her.
Posted by: Becky | May 7, 2008 9:51:12 AM
Re: Jason's remark about hillary's claim to have collected $10 million after Pa., that wasn't "bogus." It was a flat-out lie, and she should be held accountable for it.

Boy she really does need the GAS TAX HOLIDAY
Posted by: jim | May 7, 2008 9:52:00 AM
We should make note of the republican crossover vote that was significant in Hillary's 'important' wins in Texas, Ohio, PA, and Indiana. Among true democrats Obama is the peoples choice!

So why is the money she puts up a loan,
but the average worker has to donate?
Posted by: Tyrone_blue | May 7, 2008 9:53:09 AM
I never thought I'd live to see the day when Ron Paul has more cash on hand than Hilliary... WOW!!! She is finished. You can't spin yourself outta this one.

Obama isn't buying a place on the ticket...the people are buying it for him. If the presidency is to be bought, better that the people buy it than the few wealthy and large companies.

I hope Hillary will run as an independent!
Posted by: josh | May 7, 2008 9:58:06 AM
talib -- "true democrates" are what led to kennedy, dukakis, kerry ... apparently Obama having gone to Harvard is enough to make him one of the Boston crew .... who always loses the election in the end as centrist voters get turned off.

Hillary is invested in this fight. She is spending her own money for the people of America. What has Obama invested?

Low
Its hard to tell the wingnuts from the deadenders. Both groups are posting on the board in favor of Hills.
One group is up to make mischief and the other group is just plain bitter about their loss.

The Truth Hurts, FYI....I am a white middle-class, middle age, male Independent living in North Carolina. I voted for Obama because truth should matter and the Clintons are simply not to be trusted since they have own version of what truth is. And oh by the way, I also voted for Kay Hagan for Senator and Bev Perdue for Governor. So, I have no qualms voting for worthty candidates I can trust be they men, women, blacks, Latinos, or whatever.

Bravo! at least Sen Clinton put her millions where her mouth was.
She is doing this because she really believes that she can win, thats the fighter in Hillary. Her supporters should donate more to her campaign so that she can continue the valiant fight. After all she did promise 30$ for the gas tax rebate and Guam statehood, regardless of the economic situation.and the loss of construction jobs and Highway safety. Sen Clinton will end her candidacy very soon, because the math is the math! Delegates and finances alike. If she wants to continue to fight, maybe she should join the Marines, being that she already had experienc with Sniper Fire.
Hopefully she goes gracefully, why are the candidates always the last to know, when it's over?
The fat lady is backstage and warming up

To all you democrats who will vote for McCain: thank you, thank you, thank you. When the tax cuts become permanent it'll save me some serious money.

BARACK HASNT TAKEN MONEY FROM LOBBYISTS. ALSO HOW CAN HILLARY RELATE TO THE WORKING CLASS WHEN SHE HAS THE ABILITY TO LOAN HER CAMPAIGN 5 MILLION BUCKS. ITS POLITICAL RHETORIC BY THE CLINTON CAMP

It’s interesting how the “woman of the people”, the “non-elitist”, has been able to loan herself over $11 million so far...
Posted by: txdew | May 7, 2008 12:40:22 PM
The Clinton Calculus--
1)Lend the campaign $11.4 million
2)Publicly state she will "take this all the way to the convention" and threaten the democrats chance of uniting the party
3)Through a back-channel, indicate an interest in negotiating her conceding to Obama
4) Terms of her withdrawal: Obama and the DNC guarantee repayment of all campaign debts, including the Clintons (as well as a say in VP and cabinet selections)
5) Bill Clinton and Ickes lead the negotiation with Dean as referee
6) Obama agrees to the money, but holds firm on appointments and VP (as the Clintons expected)
7) Hiillary withdraws within the next two weeks or will face declining leverage as superdelegates abandon ship

Emily...I hear your negative words about Obama. But what has he done to bring you this opinion?
Posted by: LowB44 | May 7, 2008 2:39:31 PM
Let me preface by saying I am Independent....I chose to remain an Independent because I cannot embrace the ideals of either party and want to be free to vote my concience. What I cannot understand for the life of me is why someone who has chosen to belong to a party would vote for someone in the opposite party just because your candidate lost. You may believe you are being principled if you do so but in my opinion you're being childish and immature. If you could not live with party's nominee then why on earth belong to that party?

Some of you Hillary supporters remind me of what a Republican once said to not too long ago about GWB "I support him 100%". To put that much faith in any man or woman is dangerous and is tantamount to surrending all objectivity in assessing real issues and real problems especially when they are seriously flawed such as GWB (dumb) and the Clintons (untruthful). Keep an open mind people....Obama, if he is the candidate, certainly has what it takes to run this country...

I wonder if some of these bloggers really understand the cost of campaigns and the costs of advertisements. Obama outspent Hillary 3 to 1 and even 4 to 1, and she still beat him. Oprah et al must have very deep pockets.

Hillary was the most unattractive choice for the White House ever, and being a woman had nothing to do with it. If there was any doubt about the self-serving, slash and burn, moral relativist Clintons, Hillary dispelled those doubts during her campaign. Now, it’s becoming downright embarrassing, this self-delusional candidate, who would not go away. This is now a spectacle and what we are witnessing is no longer admirable in any light. If she is allowed on the Democratic Party ticket in any capacity the Republicans win. It’s that simple!

Obama know the most about economics because all economist agreed with Obama about gas tax holiday. This just show McCain and Hillary don't know economics.
Here is why obama is right about Gas Tax holiday.
Gas tax holiday will result in more people driving thus
1) there will be increase in demand and therefore the gas price will go back to the original price or more
2) more people driving = more money for foreign countries
3) more people driving = bad for the environment
