Clinton Plays Offense -- Targets Obama
May 04, 2008 2:42 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton is two days away from the Indiana and North Carolina primaries. Speaking today in Ft. Wayne, Ind., Clinton chiseled down her once 40-minute stump speech to a 16-minute delivery of points aimed directly at Barack Obama.
On the gas tax holiday: "My opponent is running ads and holding press conferences and attacking me because I have a plan to try to get oil companies to pay the gas tax this summer instead of you paying."
On the mortgage crisis: "Now Sen. Obama doesn’t agree with me in making a home foreclosure moratorium, but I think what I've proposed will finally give a little more balance in the scales."
On health care: "My opponent doesn’t cover everybody, he leaves 15 million people out and I think that's a mistake."
Clinton is trying to make the point in these last days that she is the candidate who recognizes what average Americans are going through.
"I understand what folks are up against," she said. "There is a big difference between us, who understands what you are going through and who can you count on to be on your side to get the solutions that are going to help you for a change, instead of [helping] the folks who are already doing very well."

Obama is still figuring out ways to avoid hillary in debate. without his rev wright to give him strength (20 years of like thinking and like a father to him) he is reduced to what he really is: a little man in a suit, a very empty suit.

As it is 2 days prior to the vote ... here comes the kitchen sink.
I wonder what new "scare us" ad Hillary will run this time?
If you like being pandered to and lied to, go ahead and vote for Hillary.

I heard the Rev Wright is coming out to speak again this week. Should be good!
Obama and Wright = BFF!!!!!!

Nominating Obama due to fear of the race card being played will be the doom of the democrats. We need a new party for moderates. Let the far left have it's little niche, because most Americans just are not far left, like Obama is.

Its amazing that everyone complains about the price of gas, they cry daily about it and the record billions the oil companies are turning over.
Hillary says let the oil money magnets bear the cost of gas tax for the summer, to bring some ease to the traveling public yet there are so many willing to say no just because she says it would be great to do so.
Well if I were the oil boys I would push gas to 10 dollar a gal, why not sure does not seem as if anyone cares to get any kind of break in the short term so why should they worry about how high gas goes.

Hillary is well aware of her strongest demographic - uneducated, low-information voters for whom a 'gas-tax holiday' sounds like a good thing. Let's just hope the educated and informed superdelegates are listening closely to this pathetic pandering and making their minds up accordingly.

Laaaaaaaaaaaame. So this is what is has come doen
to for the inevitable candidate?
Mrs. 109 million dollars understands the hurt of
poor folks and my "elitist" opponent does not?
Put a fork in her.
She's done.

COUNTDOWN - Only 277 more delegates and it's OEVER
Obama 08
Posted by: tr | May 4, 2008 3:26:03 PM
From Poitico
There are currently 404 pledged delegates left to be allocated; that number will be down to 217 Wednesday. By comparison, there are roughly 275 unpledged delegates (automatic and add-ons) still up for grabs.
That's a reminder that Obama has both a big lead and that Clinton's running out of ways to close it.
It's also a reminder that Obama's strong hand isn't only, or even primarily, about the math. It's about the politics.
COUNTDOWN - Ony 277 deegates and it's OVER

Every economist has panned her gas tax holiday but she won't listen to them. They also think her home foreclosure moratorium is a bad idea. She'll have as much luck getting her healthcare plan passed now as she did when her husband was president. And she can't catch Obama in the delegate count. Why is she still making news? The media needs to give it up. You are making a fool out of poor Hillary.

New polls?
You mean the ZOGBY polls?
Did you guys know that ZOGBY himself endorsed Obama?
Zogby infamously shows up right before primaries to tell us how GREAT Obama is doing. Every primary.
He even went so far as to say Obama was going to win california by 13% ,remember? The day before the primary.
Here is the formula. Put out tapdanced polls right before the primary, then release the REAL DATA 5min before the polling opens .
Thus if Zogby says Obama by 2 in indiana, it really means Clinton by 5 or more.
Pollsters are the most crooked entities in the united states.

Hillary and her pandering is a character issue.
Posted by: Stacey | May 4, 2008 3:46:24 PM
Hillary has found out that Obama has a glass jaw. So she is coming out swinging. She know if she gets one good hit on his jaw, he's finished.
Posted by: waggdogg | May 4, 2008 3:46:35 PM
I think the reason why Hillary is sinking in the polls on gallup is that America is seeing right through her pandering.
I have seen Obama's stump speech and his ads. He gives specific solutions to issues that Americans care about.
All Hillary cares about it trying to drum up a few votes.
Posted by: Stacey | May 4, 2008 3:49:55 PM
The way she is acting I thought it was a defense. Seems like she has been trying to defend her policies, that she can't seem to find any support or traction on.

Lou, I think it might be more accurate to say that one of these senators will lose and drift into oblivion.
Posted by: FilmMD | May 4, 2008 3:54:13 PM
Obama twists everything Hillary says because he doesn't have any ideas of his own. Go Hillary/McCain

tomdavie:
I guess you missed Meet The Press, where Obama DID talk solutions that could work, particularly come January 09 when he is President!
Hillary's plan has two problems. First, it's a smokescreen desiged to get her votes.
But most importantly, there's no way her plan for a windfall profit tax on Big Oil will pass congress, let alone be signed into law by Dubya or be veto-proof. And that's even further aside from the fact that she's already committed funds from such a tax elsewhere.
Soooo, aside from the fact that her pandering might convince small-minded and/or selfish voters to go her way in Indiana, her proposals are meaningless.
Obama 2008 -- Yes, WE CAN!!!
