Clinton’s Advice: Turn Off the Television

ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: An adoring group of more than 1,000 people greeted Sen. Hillary Clinton and her daughter today at a fundraiser in New York City. She thanked them for their support and later told the group that she is going to finish the nominating process.

"I want you to know how grateful I am for your support and how much you have sustained me throughout this campaign," she said. "But it has been a joy. Now I know that may be hard to believe, but if you just take the advice that I give to my own mother, and that is: Just turn off the television."

The crowd roared and applauded, and Clinton assured them, "You will really enjoy this experience"

"What I hear and what I see is all about how we are going to finish this nominating contest, which we will do," she said. "Then we will have a nominee and we have a unified Democratic Party and we will stay together and we will defeat John McCain in November."

Celebrating Mother's Day a day early, Clinton said she would take the advice her mother gave her to the White House. Some of the things Clinton mentioned were: "Treat each other with kindness. Be nice to one another. Don’t grab somebody else’s toys. Know when to know when you’re supposed to use the right fork and knife."

"It is a joy for me to think about all of the wisdom that has been passed down," Clinton said. "And it would be exciting to have the first mother in the White House. We would have someone who has lived the experiences that many of us share and we would be focusing on how we're going to help families balance the work that they have to do outside the home and the really important work they do inside the home."

Clinton also took advantage of a question about college education to joke with the audience about how ong the campaign has been going on.

"When I stated out in this campaign, gosh it was about 100 years ago," she said.

Clinton wrapped up her remarks at the fundraiser with words of encouragement: "Let's keep going. This is a great adventure, stay with me!"

It is sad. She is just not seeing tbe writing on the wall. I guess it is hard, because they have always won, saying or doing whatever was necessary and this time it did not work. We surely need Obama to lead us now, not someone who is so power hungry that she would do or say whatever. Just concede, know that it is over and move on.

On Obama’s left hand he wears a symbol, a gold band wedding ring. Now, I know that this can be a nuisance for a man, working on cars, working in the fields, getting your hands dirty on the job, but it’s an important symbol of love, so some wear wedding bands. Obama said he doesn’t wear the American Flag pin because he loses them. He said symbols are not important its actions instead of symbols. The importance of the wedding ring goes without saying but that same importance goes with the American Flag or Pin. The American Flag is important to all Americans because it represents sacrifice by thousands that have given their lives so that we can live in a “free” society. Obama doesn’t get it and he can’t sell it. Symbols unite people and show that everyone is on the same boat --- we all feel the same and work toward the same goals. It is important to show respect. Nothing is more important in any President that “character”.

This is starting to get outright nasty.

If the democratic party wants Clinton to drop out, they need to come out and say so .

Not just sit in the middle and make snide articles about it.

This kind of nonsense just tears the party apart more.

What honest reason does anyone have to not let senator Clinton finish the final 6 contests ?

Its May 10th and its ends June 3rd. Does Obama have 2025 delegates?

Do you jerks have a problem with 6 states who get to vote in an undecided contest for the first time in 40 years?

The small upside to harassing both Bill and Hillary Clinton in the media is nowhere near the anger that they are creating for Clinton supporters.

Our Democratic Election Process is being tainted by Republicans who are voting for Obama in order to stack the deck in McCain’s favor by enabling him to run against Obama instead of Clinton. This is happening because Republicans no longer need to cast their one vote to select a republican candidate, so they are using their remaining voting ability to stack the deck. Republicans fear Clinton’s experiences and abilities present her as the best candidate to win against McCain in the fall. The Primary process needs to be handled like a regular election (having everyone vote at one time) to help minimize such chances of stacking the deck in any candidates favor. Checking several years of the historical votes of the individuals voting for Obama could prove out true Republican allegiance and not the indication of switching parties. The Democratic super delegates need to be made aware of this tainting of the Democratic Election Process before it is too late. Our country will once again be twisted and controlled by special self interests groups of the wealthiest that use the hard work of other people to increase their own financial gain. These special interest usury groups step on the rights of all of mankind for their own gains no matter how much it costs generations of the Americans and people around the world. People are dieing in wars, overpaying in health care, food, and gas prices in order for such special interest wealthy groups to maintain control and power over the majority of people. Our country’s democracy was created and meant to enable leadership to look out for the majority of people who need protection from such usury special interest groups. Please help improve the Democratic process before its to late.

Uncommitted Democratic superdelegates in Congress overwhelmingly say they won't necessarily back the presidential candidate who wins the most primary delegates. Instead, electability will be very important in their
decision.

Of 42 lawmakers interviewed by The Hill, only four said they regarded the primary vote as decisive.

I'm reasonably sure that Bill Clinton has NOT helped Hillary's campaign very much. But the time has come for the Clinton family to throw everything including the kitchen sink at BHO. Hillary has tried to be "nice" for too long; maybe she should take a cue from Bill and get nasty. The end-game cannot be played with velvet gloves.

MSM still has the hypnotic hold, people still really believe what they say to be the truth? Oh please, they are the ones who created the Obama phenominon and put down Hillary will made up stories and biased opinion people think is fact. pathetic.

At the end of six primary's Obama will need the supers also so she will not quit. Nor should she.MSM has played in this election from the start.

People, this is exactly why I have been advocating for the unification of our party. The denial is no longer practical. We as democrats need to get together and vote for the nominee, not the one in denial by not watching TV. By the way, she said exactly the same not watching TV thing about the investigation of her Whitewater scandal.

There seems to be a slim margin between being a fighter--not a quitter--and being delusional when it's come to the Clifton.

Time for the Democrats to wake up and not let a single couple jeopardize their chance to win back the White house.

If Obama wan't her out he will have to keep going until he wins.

Posted by: Bishop | May 10, 2008 4:42:32 PM

Just a few more weeks and this primary season will be OVER.

Posted by: Stacey | May 10, 2008 4:47:11 PM

Come on, every one knows Obama can not live without Clintons....

He needs Clintons otherwise he can't make his "change"...

I think the media and stupid high level democrats are creating such a deep divide with the Clinton voters, its going to be very difficult to bridge it.

This latest 'rip Clinton a new one at any cost' when she is just finishing the last 3 weeks of the contest is DAMAGING the party.

Obama is the presumptive nominee. But he doesnt have the delegates to win.

The media and Obama supportes are PUBLICALLY coming out to chastise Clinton for campaigning is not something you are going to see again nor have we ever seen it before.

I have never seen a party try to FORCE a candidate out before the winner actually won SO MANY TIMES during the process as I have seen in this one.

Its created a HUGE rift for the Clinton supporters.

The media never figured that for every Obama supporter watching the news, there is a Clinton supporter. Both have 15mil votes.

Either that , or they WANT to divide the party so Mc Cain can win the election.

TomDavie... the problem with allowing HRC to continue her mad dash to the finish line is HER MOUTH. She just keeps spouting venom that is DESTROYING the party. Her "white" comments the other day were 1) false and 2) divisive. If people in PA and OH and WV, etc etc start sipping her KoolAid,they may just vote skin color. She seems to forget that Obama has won more states and only three or for of the 32 wins were aided by large African American populations. Obama has the largest coalition going. She knows this. Her comments were intentional. She wants to divide this party - get McCain in there, and then come back as the savior, the "see I told you" candidate of 2012. Because she knows if Obama gets in, he'll be there for 8 years and she'll be too damn old and irrelevant to run again.

That's the problem we have. It's a problem we've had since February, when we really "WON" this race. Remember? When Obama won every contest for an ENTIRE month? Yeah. That's when she should have left. Since then we've had her fanning the flames of "controversy" alongside her buddy McCain, and tearing the democratic party in half.

Here is a question I would like someone to ask Hillary, that I haven't heard her asked yet- 'Senator Clinton why did you leave your name on the ballot in Michigan, when nearly every other candidate removed there name from the ballot in line with a party agreement?'

Posted by: markymark | May 10, 2008 5:22:44 PM

I think the future of the Dems lies with the young, college educated voters. Obama is ahead in every category at this point, and if the Dems want to really alienate the future of this party, then go ahead and take the nomination away from him. That would just be great for the future of the party.

Let it go Hillary. You're done.

Posted by: Kory | May 10, 2008 5:27:22 PM

There are just too many questions about Obama - why bother!

Posted by: s. valenti | May 10, 2008 5:29:58 PM

It's really disheartening to see the Obama supporters still spewing venom Clinton's way. Everyone knows that Obama has the nomination, but if he gets the nomination and loses contests in W. VA and Kentucky after it is official, it becomes a big embarrassment for him. The more you folks run down Clinton before she officially leaves the race, the more angry you make her supporters. Regardless of what you seem to feel is "owed" to you and Obama, you will need the Clinton supporters in the fall if you want him to win the election. This isn't over until November. Don't blow with arrogance. We need a democrat in the White House and every potential vote is too important to dismiss.
