First Daughter: Mom's Nickname is 'Mommy-Zilla'

ABC News' Lindsey Ellerson Reports: According to the First Daughter, Laura Bush has a side rarely seen by the public eye, a side that prompted Jenna to nickname her mother "Mommy-Zilla" in the days leading up to the Texas wedding.  Jenna told Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" Thursday that a storm blowing in on the eve before the wedding caused her mother's "Mommy-Zilla" personality to come out in full force.

Watch the exchange HERE.

"It was a slight disaster," Jenna said of a storm that caused part of the wedding tent to blow away a day before the reception, getting everything wet and toppling the band's set-up for the next day.

"We named my mom, although she's not this...she may kill me afterwards, 'Mommy-Zilla,'" said Jenna, explaining how her mother helped repair the preparations that had been compromised.  "Well, just cause I didn't really care. And thank goodness she was 'Mommy-Zilla' because she did everything. Is that mean?"

Laura laughed and jokingly said, "Yeah. I'm insulted."

The Bush ladies also talked about the emotion wrapped up in the wedding, revealing that President Bush was the most emotional, tearing up as he walked his daughter down the aisle.

"He started on the way down the aisle," said Laura.  Jenna added, "he couldn't get through his toast either."

After the toast, Jenna said she asked her father if she could read his speech because through his tears, she had a difficult time understanding parts of the toast.  But, she also remarked how much it meant to her to have her father so visibly moved.

"It means a lot that he would be so emotional, that it would mean so much that his daughter, his little girl is getting married and that shows how close we are.  And it was really also great, even though I called her 'Mommy-Zilla', as a joke, that they would let me do it the way that I would want to and not put pressure."

Jenna and Laura also discussed their new children's book "Read All About It!" which was released in late April.  The book is based on stories that Laura Bush shared with her daughters about her teaching experiences.

Why on earth is this on the front page as a "Top Headline"? It's not news, it's entertainment for gossip mongers.

It has become quite obnoxious, to see the idiots blast the President at every opportunity. The people that post such disrespectful comments, should stop and look at themselves. What a lesson you teach your children. No wonder our country is in such a moral downslide. President Bush has been through the most horrific situations during his term, and in my opinion, done well. We're free to express our opinions, no matter what we believe. Pray that it continues with the next President. Choose your candidate wisely, or we may all be reading the Koran.

I'm an Arab woman who is grateful to George W. Bush. He seems like a good family man, unlike another president who ignored our plight.

#1 mommyzilla will be controlling her daughter and son-in-law's life and #2 and her grandchildren.

The world rarely gets to see that side of this man. Bush is a bad man, evil and idiotic. However, he is also a charming man with many talents and very emotional, maybe that is what makes him so bad. Bush will cry in a wedding but will not cry when soldiers are killed in the army...thats an idiot.

Is this really news worthy? Give me a break!

I can't stop laughing at Sharon's statement, "President Bush has been through the most horrific situations during his term, and in my opinion, done well." HAHAHA! Any horrible situations were of his own making due to his complete dismissal of our nation's constitution and his own lies and inept performance. Guess what? I'm not a liberal, but I know a bad president when I se one. Apprenetly so does 80% of teh nation if his last "disapproval" rating is any indication. To those of you still drinking the Bush koolaid, I beg you - educate yourselves. Don't rely on chain emails and FoxNews - do your own homework. Anyone that still believes this man is fit to lead is pathetically uninformed and choosing to remain so.

Controlling Mother's of the bride and crying Father's of the bride are not news. My Dad still cries when he talks about my wedding and I'm married 16 yrs.

You libs are great. I hope you're happy if you're elitist Obama gets elected and isn't able to get us out of Iraq because it's the right place to be. Some of you don't realize that Pres. Bush's approval numbers are so low because of the media/Hollywood's relentless hatred of the man. He's doing the right thing and history will show that. If the Dems are so bent on stopping the war, then cut off the funding. They don't have the guts to do it because they know deep down we need to be there.

It is indeed refreshing to read about a typical American family who appreciates their family. BUT, I was distressed after reading some of these comments, but then, I think that it illustrates the Obama-type personnel who don't miss a trick to be critical of everything that is wholesome & American about the Bush family.

Reads like a normal wedding to me.

Posted by: Sandra | May 23, 2008 2:15:54 PM

That family makes me sick. Everytime I see them on TV or in newspaper laughing and enjoying their lives I immideately think of the death and destruction they brough upon the world and their own country.

HaimBond???
Speaking of death and destruction...do you remember who was President when the WTC was first bombed? How about the African embassy? USS Cole? ... that's right, Bill Clinton. Is it his fault or the fault of the terrorists? Likewise, was 9/11 really Bush's fault or did the terrorists actually kill all of the innocent people?

Remember, FREEDOM ISN"T FREE !!!
Thank God our soldiers understand that for my sake and the sake of you bleeding-heart, appeasing LIEberals.

Busybody, Olberdork is a commie and rants anti-American hatred on a nightly basis. These libs hate Pres. Bush because he stands for something. They've been spoonfed lies by Michael Moore, Olberdork, Moveon.garbage, Dailykooks, etc. Libs care about one thing - regaining power. They don't see that we've had no attack since 9-11 and don't care. They're selfish and would rather see us embrace leaders of Iran, Syria & Cuba - people that want us dead - than defend our country. You'll never get through to these people because they hate the USA. Sick, sick people.

ort777,
I keep hoping that maybe one day and liberal will THINK with their brain and not rely on hate-filled rhetoric. For some reason, they just do not want to face facts.

I guess LIEberals just cannot handle the truth.
