McCain Calls For Pressure On Syria To Cease Lebanon Violence
May 09, 2008 4:52 PM
ABC News’ Jan Simmonds Reports: Speaking to reporters in Columbia, South Carolina today, John McCain called for pressure "to be brought to bear on Syria” for their role in the recent violence in Lebanon. The Republican presumptive nominee called Syria a “major motivator” of Hezbollah and called for the United Nations to take firmer action to secure peace in the region.
McCain also cited the United Nations Security Council’s “failure to implement” its resolution to disarm Hezbollah and a called for greater sense of urgency from nations with interests in the Middle East to work towards bringing a long term end to the fighting.
Touching on a myriad of subjects, the Arizona Senator also commented on a story in today’s Washington Post that called into question a land swap deal he worked to push through that benefited one of his top fundraisers.
“I am very proud of my record,” said McCain of the legislation he helped pass in 2005. “I’m proud of the work that we did on that land exchange and am proud of my environmental record.” He also pointed to two editorials written at the time that praised his efforts on the legislation.
With Vice President speculation continuing to percolate, McCain was asked about his thoughts concerning the state’s Governor Mark Sanford possibly making his short list.
McCain did not take the bait though, saying he will not be talking about his process of choosing a running mate, adding that while he respects the Governor and has known him for many years, he will not be mentioning the names of anyone he is considering for the position.
While his wife Jenny was in attendance, the Governor himself was not among the many Republican elected officials gathered for McCain’s press conference today. When his office was asked for comment, his communications director, Joel Sawyer, stated that the Governor had reserves duty today, thus prohibiting him from attending either the media avail or fundraiser later in the day.
Sanford was appointed to the Air Force Reserves in 1994, a year before he became governor of the State.

The Obama supporters just don't seem to be able to grasp the concept of what an Obama candidacy will produce in a national election.
Barack Obama is probably the most liberal Senator in the United States. Obama supports increased taxes, bigger government, abortion on demand, gay unions, gun control, and has the endorsement of Hamas.
The same Barack Obama would sit down with Iranian leaders for negotiations without preconditions even though they have consistently called for the annihilation of Israel and most recently refered to Israel as a "rotting corpse."
Kansas (my home state) is one of the caucus-circus states in which Obama initiated voter intimidation was employed to gain a "win" and the resulting delegates.
But a win for any Democrat in Kansas is of no electoral value. Kansas will be a Republican win in the electoral college in November (as it has in every election), and its representation in Congress will remain at least 2 to 1 in favor of Republicans.
Of the minority Democrats in Kansas, a significant number of these voters are either switching to Republican or independent status and will vote for whoever is running against the likes of an Obama.
Thanks to Barack Hussein Obama and the DNC, that would be John McCain.

The only thing McCain DOESN'T flip-flop on is padding the pockets of his friends and contributors. I wonder what's in Cindy's accounts?

It already sounds like Obama's chickens are coming home to roost. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword.
Let's hear it one more time!
FROM THE HANOI HILTON
TO THE WHITE HOUSE!

Amen Ms. Georgia!
Cindy's account needs NO padding. She has more than she will ever need as an heiress.
From the Hanoi Hilton to the White House sounds awfully exciting to the Pubs.

Jayhawk, your account of a caucus-circus in your state reflects what we have heard from other state caucuses--intimidation. Obama thinks the red states are going to fall for his double-talk.
The General Election is going to be very different: no more caucuses for voting, no superdelegates, no states like Michigan and Florida being denied their votes (if we learned from 2000), and a chance for people to actually vote freely.
What do you want to bet, that right now, Obama is scratching his head trying to think of a way to copy McCain's call for pressure on Syria through the United Nations and other countries in the Middle East to disarm Hezbollah, which is responsible for recent violence in Lebanon?
He must do it in such a way so that it appears to be his original thought. Will he ditto McCain, add a little twist, then spin it to sound like he had already originated the idea? Hillary had already called for a Middle East umbrella so that countries in that region could protect each other. Perhaps, he will copy her again. He is already telling white collar workers that his and Hillary's healthcare plan are 95 percent the same. What a laugh!
He believes that his rhetoric can conquer anything: caucus states, the college students, his AA base, the Republicans, the General Election. He is forgetting a huge voting block--just the old, the "uneducated whites", the old women, and the people who have already worked to build up the Democrat Party. He's full of rhetoric, empty on substance.
Many of us will be changing our Party status to Independent after this election. I want no more of this media bias, archaic voting rules, disenfranchisement of voters, and disdain for the Clintons who have given much to this country and the Democrat Party. I agree with the Democrats in Kansas.

Pressure on Syria to cease Lebanon violence should be done by Nancy Pelosi. She pressed Syria president Bashar Assad to resume peace talks with Israel. Maybe with her great foreign policy she be able to get Syria to stop supporting Hezbollah. I'm sure he will listen to her when he won't listen to the United Nations.

It is interesting that the writer in Kansas mentioned the Obama mafia style intimidation at the caucuses, because that is how I felt with my caucuses..and I had others who felt the same way in Texas...some people did not stay because of the intimidation...When my parents called me and told me what was going on at theirs, I was fearful for them.
From pulling out yard signs (to make it seems like she has not supporters...or to make it seem like if we keep putting out our signs we will be subject to vandalism...) to screaming and yelling at the meetings..these people intimidate and bully. Oh yes, man of peace...I really believe that...to be a lie!
