Obama Bids 'Sunshine' Good Bye, Vows to Return
May 23, 2008 7:10 PM
ABC News' Tahman Bradley reports: Before a packed stadium on a rainy afternoon in Sunrise, Fla., Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., voiced pleasure with his first visit to the state in six months. "We've had a great three days campaigning here in Florida. But I regret that we couldn't campaign here earlier. But I promise you we're going to make up for some lost time," said the presidential hopeful, who initially referred several times to Sunrise as Sunshine.
Obama spoke for about a half hour, serving up a compilation of his greatest hits. No mention of the assassination apology made by his Democratic rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y. In fact, Obama praised Clinton for running "a magnificant campaign."
With lawsuits hanging in the balance and uncertainty about how the Democratic National Committee will resolve the situation with Florida's delegates, Obama promised residents their voices will be heard. "Rest assured, when we meet in Denver for the Democratic convention in August, Florida Democrats will be seated, your voice will be heard, and, most importantly, we will work together to make sure Florida goes Democratic in November."
The cheering BankAtlantic Center crowd heard Obama's familiar themes about change and hope. He tied Republican presidential nominee-to-be John McCain of Arizona to President Bush on the economy, arguing that the senator is out of touch with the average working-class, American family.
"John McCain looked at George Bush's economic record, and he concluded that we have been making great process," Obama said. "Clearly, John McCain isn't talking to the 260,000 people who've lost their jobs at the beginning of the year. He must not be talking to folks who can't even go out on a job search because they can't fill up their gas tank ...
"I don't see great progress. You don't see great progress, and that's why we're not going to let John McCain make any more progress to the White House."
On foreign policy, one last word, for now, in the debate over engagement with U.S. enemies.
"John McCain, he's been spending his entire week describing his foreign policy, which basically says 'here are the people I won't talk to, the diplomacy I won't engage in.' That's not change. That's George Bush. That's Dick Cheney."

Discussion must be about our Economy, affordable Health Care, Energy Indpendence, NAFTA (Support Employers in USA), Iraq War, College affordablity, Education & Science and NOT about gender, race, religion etc.
Let's united about our commen goals and not focused about differences.
Obama will leads us to the Bright Future & Strong USA.

Is it just me or does a Barak Obama speech sound like a 5th grade class president speech? No homework, soda in the water fountains, more vacation days....pointless promises with no basis or substance. The scary thing is, democrats are sitting in the classroom like a bunch of starry eyed 5th graders eating it up. He is running on change-completely unoriginal since I think every prez in the last 15 years has run on that platform. And, in the grand tradition of john kerry before him, not able to remember the towns name he is speaking in. Be careful what you wish for democrats.

Hey, JP, you Repubs put a moron in the white house for the last eight years. If Obama suffers brain damage tomorrow, he'll still be able to express himself better than the Bushster.

I served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and I refuse to vote for a man who never served in the Military. Also Obama is 1/2 White, and not a Black.

FLS: I refuse to vote for a man who never served in the Military
********
Just curious, did you vote for Kerry?

You're right, felipe, we have been very stupid. Lucky for us, there's no where to go but up this November.

I WENT TO THE RALLY IN SUNRISE AND THERE WAS STANDING ROOM ONLY IN THAT BIG ARENA. I LIVE IN PALM BEACH COUNTY BUT I WENT TO BROWARD COUNTY FOR THIS EVENT. I DON'T CARE THAT HE SAID THE NAME OF THE CITY WRONG, NOBODY CARED. WE WERE SO GLAD HE CAME TO US BECAUSE WE ARE IMPORTANT TO HIS CAMPAIGN. HE CAN EVEN CALL ME "SWEETIE". AS A MATTER OF FACT I WOULD PAY BIG MONEY TO HAVE HIM CALL ME THAT SO THAT I COULD RECORD IT AND KEEP IT FOREVER. OBAMA 08'

The people vote for Obama obviously college kids who doesn't live through the clinton era of prosperous and healthy economy. They will never once experience it again, think about this oil was $28 a barrel in Clinton era and ppl think this was high. Wait until Obama take over and you will see a $8 gas. And yet, they will find someone to blame for this.
Just IMHO.

I'm a Hillary supporter who will be voting for McCain in the Fall. And I know many others who feel the same way. Obama is a divisive candidate. HE has divided us. And if he and his supporters think that Hillary's supporters will just fall in line. Think again. We will be throwing our support to John McCain.

Obama wowed Jewish voters at the Florida synagoge:
“Don’t judge me because I have a funny name. Don’t judge me because I am an African American. People are concerned about memories of the past. … That is exactly what I am fighting in the African American community when I hear anti-Semitic statements. We are bigger than that.”
Seems he is also doing pretty well in FL with women, senior citizens, Cuban Americans.....

"Nobo"-what are you talking about??? Obama didn't mention the anti-American, inhumane remarks Hillary made about ASSASSINATION today. I actually can't believe that he let it go so easily. He could SLAM her on this, it is really really bad, and it's over for Hillary. She has no one to blame but herself, on so many levels.
Obama will win. The "FL argument" is not an argument-it's simple rules, and fairness. Even if we seat FL (against the rules), Hillary is out. It's really true, folks, it's over.
Obama will win the presidency as well, although it seems clear that 20-something % of the dems will work against that. He will win because he is reaching out to more people and really we are in a historic moment where the democratic party is being redefined.
It's a fascinating time in our country, even though it is crazy and frustrating, I'm glad to be alive in this age to witness the transformation of our country. And it's ugly to see the underbelly of our hatred, ignorance, irrationality...but ultimately it had to happen and will take us to the next step of growth.

While I respect the passion of the opinions posted, I am amazed at the misuse of FACTS in many of these posts starting with the subject of the article. Due to Clinton's indelicate reference to Senator Kennedy, most have overlooked the obvious - that CA held its primary in June of 1968. THAT is why the nomination was not settled: THE CA PRIMARY WAS HELD IN JUNE. In 2008, the primaries/caucuses that could significantly alter the outcome have been held and Obama has an insurmountable lead. Hillary is comparing apples to oranges and her supporters are blindly swallowing her latest argument.
Hillary has repeatedly stated (correctly) that the race is about delegates (as opposed to popular vote), agreed to the DNC penalty of not seating the MI and FL delegations, has stated that MI "does not matter". And in the delegate race, she expected to have enough pledged delegates after Super Tuesday that she did not plan for her campaign to go beyond there. SHE PLANNED to not hear the voices of all states, territories, etc after that as happens in nearly every nomination process.
Obama's argument against seating the FL and MI delegates as voted holds much more water than Clinton's "seat as voted" - a quick look at polls from 6 months ago will show that she was ahead due to name recognition and the success of Bill's Presidency. The fact is that he closed the gap or overtook her in EVERY state campaigned in. And there is the FACT of the DNC sanction - which, btw, Harold Ickes played a prominent role in determining.
In WV, about 25% of the Republicans did NOT for McCain, choosing instead to vote for Huckabee or Paul. No one is claiming that those voters are "disenfranchised" or that Huckabee should reenter the race until all contests have played out.
SC did NOT move up the Democratic Primary - the Republican primary was moved from January 29 to Jan 19. No need for any penalty there.
There many subjective reasons to support any candidate - the above post requiring military service is a good example. Those preferences are fine and passionate involvement in the process is great, but there is no reason to distort or ignore facts.

Why did the Obama campaign complain about Sen Clinton's comment? Why did they issue a press release to do so? Why wid RFK Jr issue a staement saying no harm done no offense taken? Why is this even a story?
Because again you the voter are being manipulated. By whom?.....I'll let you decide out that one too.

During this campaign I have had alot of respect and still continue to have for Sen Clinton.Im totally taken aback by these comments. It makes me feel like there is a dark side of Sen Clinton that just got slipped to the surface.
Im totally baffled and in shock.

"Guys, please read about obama, see his speeches, real about his policy statements before deciding what he stands for."
What he stands for is "present." That is what he voted for 129 times in Illinois.

Obama the human gaffe machine. keeps on going

Don't know what the BO fanatics claimS, but statistics show that there are more educated Obama voters than educated Clinton voters, and by a large margin; just check out those numbers.
Posted by: mfr_08 | May 24, 2008 1:51:47 PM
Geevil, you are right on the mark.
This BO campaign are filled with double standards and smearing.
Say if the party is so fixed on penalize FL, why would they let New Hampshire get away free. The party has been taken over by liberal extremists headed by Pelosi, the real female wizard that we called witch in the language of BO fanatics.
It's much better to be an independent and keep a distance with the mob of BO fanatics. They cause lots of problems of mental health for the public.

Has Hillary ever been in the military? You speaks like a thirteen years old. Please take your presupposition and your entailments out of your argument. Try it next time after Hillary retired from her presidency. BO is so out of touch that he won't pass the tests of general election even if he can steal the nomination.
A nomination system that can accept 4 points win in primary distorted to 12 points loss in caucus, and a 6 points win in primary distorted to 37 points should only be republican. Great! We have a democratic party changes to republicans. BO makes a mockery of democratic processes. The American ancestors fought so hard for the democracy of this country, the college kids see nothing wrong of it being spitted on. Please examine their heads before letting them graduate. They are wasting the tax money.

Now it is at the end of election 08, the democratic and republic nominee are tied. It is up to the people of Florida to decide who is going to be the next president of this country.
Years later...
President McCain, can you tell us how can you win the election 2008 with so much odds against you.
McCain: The people of Florida came through for us again. To me, election 08 was a match between the sane and the fanatics. The result is not obvious until the sane of Florids beat the saint of the fanatics.
