Obama Eyeing Spot on Mount Rushmore?

ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports: Sen. Barack Obama's tight schedule and fierce regimen doesn't afford many opportunities to be spontaneous.

But the presidential candidate broke his schedule when the press corps following him took a trip to Mount Rushmore Friday night.

After a day of campaigning in Montana, Obama returned to his hotel room in Keystone, S.D., to sleep. Upon being informed by his communications director that the press corps was making a stop at nearby Mt. Rushmore, the senator decided to tag along in the unscheduled outing.

Half past 10 p.m., a time when Obama is normally retiring to bed, he instead trudged to see the national landmark under a full set of stars.

"There's something about seeing it at night that's spectacular," Obama said on his first visit to the site.

Obama was asked if he'd like to see his face on the mountain with Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt.

"I dont think my ears would fit," Obama said, laughing. "There's only so much rock up there."

Obama's visit followed Sen. Hillary Clinton's trip to the landmark on Wednesday.

Of course he had to make a trip to Mt. Rushmore...

He couldn't stand the idea that Hillary went there a couple of days ago and got a lot of publicity shots for it, even if she didn't speak to the media, he ALWAYS has to follow Hillary's lead.

He is just a phony, copy-cat with no true ideas of his own.

Now who is feeling ENTITLED? Obama's supporters alwyas have put him ENTITLED above GOD. If Obama can no CHANGE his own congregation from being DIVISIVE and RACIST how the hell he can claim that he will UNITE America and the world?

Good to see he has a sense of humor.

Sorry Barack but the blank granite is reserved for Ronald Reagan. Now, if you head down to Atlanta, you might be able to get a spot on Stone Mountain.

Jan, has Obama ever made a unity speech at Trinity? Of course not. They're too busy getting guest speaks like Pfluger.

Obama needs to fix his own backyard till he starts in the big leagues.

Obama runs on the themes of hope, unity and cleaning up DC.

Yet he comes from the most divisive church, has the most divisive friends and comes from a political Chicago cesspool that makes DC look spick and span.

One word comes to mind. Fraud! Oh wait, make that two more words. President McCain.

If the women of this country choose not to vote for Obama or vote for McCain they will have proved that they are not capable leading this country. Electing McCain will screw over a lot of good people including all those destined to die in Iraq. Use your brain!

Have you seen the latest Rasmussen Tracking Polls?

Hillary is now viewed favorably by 47% of Democrats, while Obama is only viewed favorably by 45%.

Obama had led in this category for months, what happened?

Posted by: SandyB | May 31, 2008 11:59:42 AM

SandyB,

What happened is all of the ladies who are screaming like you.

Who have hardened their views and decided if Hillary is not the nominee then they will vote for McCain.

That's what happened. I asked you before if you are a democrat because there are some REAL differences in what we believe in and what the Republicans believe.

Posted by: Jan | May 31, 2008 12:03:19 PM

Okay SandyB,

I hear you.

One more thing WE (women) are not a minority. We have great power... that is part of what we see in the polls.

My concern is how we (Democratic Women) use our power. I don't want us to give it up to the Republicans and you can trust that all the LOVE they have been showing Sen. Clinton has something to do with dividing Democrats so that the Republican can win.

That is the bottom line. That's also a part of what was done to the Democrats by the Republican led legislature in Florida and why they are in the mess of unseated delegates.

Okay... that's enough of this for today... I've got to clean my house!

I have been a Democrat since the day I first registered to vote many years ago.

Even during the Reagan years, I never once voted Republican like so many other Democrats were doing.

I am just of the opinion that Hillary has a better chance against McCain. I have felt this way since the beginning of the primary season, and I have yet to see any reason to change that OPINION.

It is my understanding that the DNC and the superdelegates are in the position they are in for that precise reason: to put the most electable candidate on the ballot in November, in case the will of the people failed to do this. It failed to do this in 1972; 1980; 1984; 1988; and 2004 (I won't even touch 2000, to this day, no one knows who really won that one, as it was decided in the U.S. Supreme Court).

It is my further OPINION that this a year that this possibility needs to be considered, as those who do not LEARN from HISTORY, are only destined to REPEAT it.

Like I said, I have no idea at this time who I will vote for in November.

---------
I also noticed that Hillary is now getting beat by McCain by 3%. (Exact same margin as Obama)

What happened to her "overwhelming electability" argument?

Obama will be our president someday. He's just not ready yet. I think that he should sit out for another 8 to 16 years to build up his experience. He has stumbled a few times that make him look like an amateur.

John McCain is the most experienced and ready person in this race to take over the presidency. He'll eat Obama alive on experience and international know how.

Obama needs more practice.

Posted by: Steve | May 31, 2008 12:38:29 PM

Yes, but I think it's the first time his favorability rating has fallen BENEATH her, and that was the point I am making.

The poll you refer to is for the Democratic nomination, where everyone has already annointed Obama. In a head-to-head with McCain, Hillary ties, and Obama is down by 3.

@Angie - You just posted a blog on another thread about Hillary and what a liar, cheat and manipulator she was. Now, you are on this thread telling all Democrats to unite. I am a Hillary Supporter and like a whole lot of other Hillary Supporters, we are not now going to "Unite" with Obama Supporters, (after reading and listening to their rhetoric all these months) and help vote the Empty Suit in. Like the DNC, Obama and his supporters have overplayed their hand. Can you say President McCain???

Rise, Hillary, Rise '08
A Proud, Black Hillary Supporter

(It ain't over until the lady in the pantsuit says so!)

Neither Bill or Hillary Clinton nor
Barack Obama will ever see their
likenesses on Mount Rushmore!
In Bill's case you don't memorialize
someone who lied under oath(regardless
of the crime) and neither Hillary nor
Obama will be elected president!
But don't cry any tears for them!
Bill and Barack will make lots of money
on the lecture circuit and Hillary
appears to have a future on
"Dancing with the Stars"!

How obsurd!!

This clown hasn't even held the job as President, and he wants to be on Mt Rushmore! Truely pathetic!!

What has his record of US Senator been like? "Present". Nice. Now all of a sudden he is the golden boy, the messiah, Christ himself with the 'other half' of us dems. The Obamabats, if you will. Completely batty of this horrible person of a pure hatred and racism towards whites!

There is no way that Obama will ever be on Mt. Rushmore. Not now, not ever! That is reserved for Presidents of the United States of America. Not wannabe presidents of Utopia!

Atleast he knows that his dumbo ears wouldn't fit!

Hillary '08
