Obama Eyes AF1

ABC News' Sunlen Miller: What's Barack Obama looking forward to if he wins the presidency?  Air Force One.

The Illinois Senator fielded a question at a South Bend Indiana town hall from a voter who commented, "I understand there's a nice plane waiting for you when you become president."

Obama said he had been on Air Force One only once before in 2005, when he flew back to Washington, DC with President Bush after attending the dedication ceremony of the Lincoln library in Springfield, Illinois.

"You get on the plane it's big and spiffy, and its got all kinds of people in there doing all sorts of stuff," Obama said describing his first ride.

But what Obama's favorite part of the flight?  The safety of knowing the plane likely wouldn't crash when it was toting around a president.

"The truth is the best thing about flying on Air Force One is we were flying though a thunder storm when we got to Washington and we were bumping and shaking and knocking all around and I knew we weren’t going down," he said laughing, "You feel very confident in there, turbulence doesn't bother you at all. You're just like wow – whatever else happens, this plane is staying up."

Obama, as a presidential candidate, is toted around in a 757 North American plane.

Christ! Can we get a relevant issue written about?!

In the last 24 hours, he has rolled out an energy plan, and economic stimulus. talked on health care and reiterated what he will do about the war and the middle east. he's picked up more superdelegates, including culling one from the Clintons, who was the head of the DNC appointed by the Billster himself. Despite the polls, all run prior to his denoucement of Wright, is holding or gaining steady.

This must be a joke. Not only does the man run from the tough stuff he's also excited about the possibility of having NEW TOYS. Sick.

Edward 1957

I am sure the COL will take your comment as a compliment.

I know I get that all the time... and whenever someone thinks my comments are not "authentic"... it's usually because it was too good.

Thanks Col.

Materialistic, Opportunistic, OBAMA!

I hear he's getting bored with the primary campaign, so maybe this kind of question will keep him interested. Is it just me, or does he never actually tell what he is going to do? He just seems to be in the "chat" mode lately.

Nice to see ABC doing its bit to prod along the demise of American journalism. The debasing debate wasn't enough. Now you make headlines about non-issues, while continuing to largely ignore the differences between the candidates on the issues that matter: Iraq, climate change, and the crumbling economy. You're doing the country a disservice. For shame.

Obama said "You get on the plane it's big and spiffy, and its got all kinds of people in there doing all sorts of stuff," ----hey, you guys (another favorite saying of Obama) I don't know what kind of stuff everyone is doing because I am inexperienced about these things but the plane is spiffy and I am looking forward to a lot of spiffy flights --- "keep up the "hope" and "change" ideas in your heads. My campaign is ripping out as much as they can right now to overload the press with how great I am ---no more character analysis (because it drags me down)on to just the issues.

AF1 is guaranteed never to crash? Hmmm. I thought the Prez and the VP never fly on the same plane in case it crashes. Obama doesn't have a clue.

Why in gods name would you headline this story except to give voters the impression that Obama is elitist and is in it for the perks and not to work for the american people.

This is dispicable.

Why dont you go write a story about the presidential candidate that promotes alchoholism, shooting , lying and cheating in marriage.

Further more, write a story about the presidential candidate that has not released the details of their pork barrel projects and donors to the Clintons presidential library.

Real men don't use the word "spiffy"

Obama talking about his plane ride ,like a 12 year old, and giving the middle finger to Hillary is not very presidential.
