Obama Flubs Concentration Camp Claim

ABC News' Rick Klein and Sunlen Miller Report: Sen. Barack Obama erred on Monday in referring to a Nazi concentration camp that a family member helped liberate, his campaign acknowledged Tuesday.

In a Memorial Day speech in New Mexico, Obama, D-Ill., touted the service of his grandfather and other family members during World War II, and added a few details about a great-uncle.

"I had a uncle who was one of the, who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps," Obama said, "and the story in our family was is that when he came home, he just went up into the attic and he didn't leave the house for six months, right. Now obviously something had really affected him deeply but at that time there just weren't the kinds of facilities to help somebody work through that kind of pain."

Watch the VIDEO HERE.

After several conservative bloggers and Fox News Channel pointed out that the Auchwitz concentration camp was liberated by Soviet soldiers, not Americans, Obama's campaign clarified the statement.

"Senator Obama's family is proud of the service of his grandfather and uncles in World War II –- especially the fact that his great uncle was a part of liberating one of the concentration camps at Buchenwald," spokesman Bill Burton said. "Yesterday he mistakenly referred to Auschwitz instead of Buchenwald in telling of his personal experience of a soldier in his family who served heroically."

Buchenwald was liberated by American soldiers in April 1945.

Said Republican National Committee spokesman Alex Conant: "At times it appears that Barack Obama inaccurately recalls his own history and American history, so it's important that we point to the facts. In this case, we're happy to see that he took the time to set the record straight."

Yeah! Obama has had someone else in the military in his family. How about him???

That should really be a prereq. to being POTUS.

Amend the Constitution NOW!

Unlike G W Bush who doesn't even bother to set his own military record straight

I would certainly look for Fox news to come up with the Nazi experts or is it Expert Nazis. Not as bad as McCain mixing up Iraq with Iran but maybe he wasn't stopping thinking about tomorrow if he's our POTUS.

AMAZING HOW THE LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS WILLING TO NOMINATE A MAN FOR THE PRESIDENCY OF THE UNITED STATES

WHOSE FATHER WAS NOT AN AMERICAN, NEVER BECAME AN AMERICAN, AND UNCONDITIONALLY REJECTED AMERICA AFTER IMPREGNATING A NAIVE AMERICAN WOMAN WHO WAS OBAMA'S MOTHER!!!!

JUST THINK OF THIS AND WONDER WHAT THESE PEOPLE REALLY DO FOR THIS NATION.

This guy who could not get his uncle right, and probably never heard of Buchenwald, is claiming liberating a concentration camp that was liberated by the Russian Red Army.

Now they have to explain what he really meant to say is that he messed up what uncle he had and which concentration camp "his uncle". Turns out he has no uncle who went to WWII. The phony will say anything, just say anything, to get elected.

JPT, I THINK YOU ARE A CLINTON LOVER, WHAT ABOUT BILL'S NON-MILITARY SERVICE. HE AND HILLARY ESCAPED TO ENGLAND TO AVOID THE DRAFT, AND FOR THE RECORD OBAMA WAS TOO YOUNG FOR VIETNAM AND TOO OLD FOR IRAQ.

Enhancing those boring campaign-speaches can be difficult. Hillary to Bosnia in 1992, right after the fighting stopped. The area had sniper activities, which was why the helicopter she was in flew sic-sac before landing and the secret service prepared. However, the tension Hillary may have felt do not reflect what she said; making it sound like they had to duck and run due to sniper fire. TV-footage made her embellishments seem like lies, but are they really?

I am sure that when Obama embellish the story of the uncle he doesn't know, he isn't really lying, or? Obama supports our troops, even though he never served himself. And it is okey for judes to vote for Obama. Isn't that what he is saying?

And the point of the sniper story is that in 1992 Hillary Clinton was in Bosnia, she participated in the peace talks in Northern Irland and spoke of women rights in China. Where was Obama in 1992? That my friends, is what experience looks like.

The RNC would tag us all with ID papers and other idendfication, tell us what to read, promote state religion and tell us what we can do with our bodies if terminally ill and with reproductive choices.

Bush, in telling us, that we need to give him greater powers without oversight from the other branches of government are eerily similiar to what Hitler asked the German parliment to grant him.

When you have no record to talk about, you have to talk about all the relatives you never knew.
