Senator Clinton Still Calling for a Debate

Share

May 25, 2008 5:32 PM

ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Since the Pennsylvania primary Sen. Hillary Clinton has been calling for a debate with her opponent, Sen. Barack Obama.

She continued her plea in Penuelas, Puerto Rico, standing outside a restaurant while less than 100 people gathered on a dirt walkway. Obama has rebuffed these requests and has instead begun campaigning in states that would be important for him in the general election if he becomes the Democratic presidential nominee.

"I was informed that Univision will sponsor a debate between Sen. Obama and myself about the issues affecting Puerto Rico," Clinton said. "I accept that invitation. Anytime, anywhere. That is the best way for the people of Puerto Rico to have their questions asked and answered and for the rest of the United States to learn more about Puerto Rico."

Clinton reiterated her claim that she feels as though she has been a senator for Puerto Rico, because she represents so many of then in New York.

"I feel as though I have been your senator and now I want to be your president," she said.

"I think mccain would win in a landslide if hillary ran independent."

That means it's the next best outcome.

McCain will win in a landslide if she soesn't run as independent (and of course she isn't).

The only way McCain doesn't win is if Hillary is Dem nominee for president.

I know, won't happen, so McCain wins in a landslide.

charlie sez: "As for being a "Strong Women" she allowed her husband to have multiple affairs with Paula, Jennifer, and Monica."

Nice to have charlie confirm once again the role that sexism and character assasination by obama's thugs have played in the nomination process.

I am half black. I don't support Obama because he is not qualified. I assume that you are one of the many black people who voted for him just because he is black... Just proving a point.

Right she won more election votes - it is not me friend who needs to learn about the election process- but you who sho0uld learn how to count the states that didn't break the rules

Howard Dean and his cronies at the DNC goofed big time. How could any American disenfranchise two states? Will this be an election by 48 states? Read the Constitution: every vote counts! This nominating process is not over. Let it run out; let 50 states be counted and then wait for the super delegates to choose the most experienced, most electable candidate:
Senator Clinton. John McCain will be our next president if Obama is chosen.

charlie sez: "I was also in Vietnam, but I did not get shot down, it would appear that one of us was smarter."

Then one of you was a ramf or a coastie. Since he was a Navy commander and war hero, it's pretty clear which of you was dinky dau.

@ Charlie Richmond

McCain was a prisoner of war. Time after time they offered to let him go but not the other prisoners. He refused every time the offered because wanted all of the prisoners released. Each time he refused they would break the bones in his arms and hands. That is why he cannot lift his arms above his head and that is why he is a war hero.

Maybe you can keep talking and prove how uneducated Obama supporters really are.

@omentum: I will Nikko. I will.

You're still going to lose this election, kid, by a blowout. Do the math. Delegates don't mean squat to the GE.

OBAMA IS SCARDEEE CAT!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Andrew | May 25, 2008 7:30:11 PM

Yeah, why is Obama too chicken to debate Clinton at this point? Why can't he close the deal? Why is he continuing to be crushed in major swing states even after the press has anointed him as the "presumptive nominee". Why doesn't he win the electoral map and Hillary does? Why, why, why? Because Obama is a candidate for his pack of Obama zombie followers only, not for America. These are people that are not invested in understanding what America needs, but are the fast food generation that think they have an arrogant, inherent right to walk in and start making demands for the rest of us to fulfill. Also, why does Obama skip out on the middle-class? How the h--- is he going to possibly win an election?

I believe somebody better keep an eye on Hill and Bill-and don't let her no where near the VP spot-She might do something to Obama to become the President- Forget her running as an independent just keep her out of the VP spot and AWAY FROM OBAMA. Somebody need to call the FBI and inform them.

I think the Clinton’s are great family because I respect them very much like other Americans but the way she goes about this campaign may end her political career if care is not taking…….. What does she want to debate with Obama at this stage of the campaign instead of looking for a way to unite the party she want more divide
She may be a spoiler indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

enough. Supers end this now before the Clintons destroy our chances in November.

Electoral map???? Who made these maps? Best be studying the demographics. Anybody that believes VA, NC, SC and GA are going to be red states this year really needs their head examined. Those folks are voting Obama this year.

Obama '08!

He should be forced to debate by the DNC. he has done so poorly in one on one debates that he refuses to have anymore.

Problem is, in the general election he will have to debate one on one.

The should be a part of the decision making process and most of the debates were before the filed narrowed. They have only had 4 or 5 one on one.

Just yet another reason among many that he is unelectable.

I respect McCain very much as a war hero but he should Waite for another war if he loves it but after 8 years of Obama administration because we cant spend all our energy in Iraqi war…… we need some time to care for the home things you understand?

Posted by: lawrence | May 25, 2008 7:43:56 PM

I wish she would run on the Independent ticket.........she would win easily.
I am so disgusted with the Dem party bosses and how they have tried to cram Obama down our throats. I have two words to explain Obama's delegate lead: Caucuses and Dean.
Good luck with that in November.

What does she want to debate.

Perhaps her unethical behavior in this nomination process?

The Fat lady has sung, its time for Clinton to take a bow.

ROGER, you are so right. If Hillary ran independent she would win.

Make you her and Bill can hold that election in your bedroom at a little sleep over party sometime.

Get real.
