V.I. Superdelegate Supports Clinton, Then Obama, Now Back to Clinton
May 27, 2008 9:41 PM
ABC News' Karen Travers reports: The nearly 800 Democratic superdelegates are free to support any candidate and are free to change their mind at any time, as many times as they want.
In the ABC News delegate estimate, about a dozen unpledged "superdelegates" have switched their support from Hillary Clinton to Barack Obama, but until tonight none had switched from Obama to Clinton.
Kevin Rodriquez, a superdelegate from the Virgin Islands, was supporting Clinton earlier this year, then switched to Obama and, according to the Clinton campaign tonight, is now back in the New York senator’s corner.
The Clinton campaign announced in a press release that Rodriquez was backing Hillary Clinton but did not provide a statement from Rodriquez.
On May 10, Rodriquez, an African-American Democratic committeeman and the director of personnel for the Virgin Islands government, announced that he was switching his support from Clinton to Obama, citing the Illinois senator’s judgment, courage and energy.
"While I have great respect for Senator Clinton, today I am announcing my support for Barack Obama," Rodriquez said in a statement released by the Obama campaign on May 10. "Senator Obama has brought a new generation and energy into the democratic process and the Democratic Party. He has shown he can connect with Democrats, Republicans and Independents across this country, whether we live on the mainland or an island.
"Senator Obama’s judgment to lead, courage to tell the truth and commitment to working men and women make him the best candidate to lead this country forward."
Just three months earlier, Rodriquez was in Clinton’s corner.
Obama went on a 10-contest winning streak in February, including the Virgin Islands caucuses on Feb. 9. On Feb. 18, Rodriquez told The St. Croix Source that he was supporting Clinton because "she’s a better candidate."
"I'm very proud of Barack Obama. I think he's doing a great job," Rodriquez said. "I'm honored as an African-American to have him in the position he is in, but I feel Hillary is still the better candidate to lead the party to victory in November."

One super flipping and flopping. Some news. How about the endorsements that Obama has banked ready to come out after June 3 rd to put him over the top no matter how the rules committee rules?

Hillary and Chelsea did some fantastic campaigning in Puerto Rico.
America is slow to recognize the dynamo that is the Caribbean in the making right now. Obama doesn't get this tonight. I'm sure he will next week.

Obama and Hilary need to both run for president in the general election ,,,,,it would be great, crazy fun!!! Only then will we know how America really feels, anyhting less would be a tragedy, rules schmools, we need to not let any women or black persons feeling be hurt. This is what being democratic is all about all being equal at all costs....even if it destroys America at least we'll be destroyed equally and no ones feelings will be hurt.

Donna Mohler i doubt you are even a Hillary supporter. I support Hillary but i am starting to deal with reality. Nevertheless, I will vote for Obama because this election is too important to let emotions cloud my mind. If you are a true supporter of Hillary's positions my only hope is you think twice, clear your head and vote for The Democratic Choice in 08!

I'm not so sure this one jives. There's no documentation or any corroborating link anywhere about this story except for a very nondescript press release cited by Halperin at The Page. That's it, no one else is tracking this. If this was legit, every Clinton surrogate in the world would be on network tv touting it.
My guess is this will end up being an outdated errant fax sent by the Clinton campaign, and everyone that's reporting it will have some egg on their faces for practicing lazy journalism.

Hillary wins Pr and she wins the popular vote hands down...
and she wins it well...even independently of the dispute over Fla and Mi
so PR IS important to this primary season and it promises to be Hillary's big win of the finale...
and she will do well in South Dakota as well and she will do evenly in Mont
but its is the PR citizens who will put Hillary in the final first slot among the popular vote...
and at least this used to mean something called
democracy...
once upon a time

DonnaMohler-
Any Clinton supporting democrat who would vote for McCain if Clinton doesn't get the nomination is a narrow-minded fool. If you don't understand the far-reaching consequences of voting for a man who would have your children die in Iraq and call it a noble cause despite the fact that we all know, or should know by now that it was a war waged based on the basest of lies told to the American people, who would take away a woman's right to choose, who knows nothing about the economy at a time when we are billions of dollars in debt to countries like CHINA, who owes his political life to lobbyists, who professes to be an expert on foreign policy but who can't get his facts straight on the ethnics involved in the war in Iraq, who calls it "surrendering" if we pull out our troops despite the fact that this is a civil war we started and will NEVER "win" no matter how long we stay there, who would minimize if not totally do away with the separation of church and state which is one of our constitutional rights in this country, at least it was one of our rights until Bush got his slimy hands on it and distorted it beyond recognition, well, you and your kind are idiots and it's really unfortunate for the future of our country that you have the right to vote because you don't have the intelligence to make a good decision. You people will be instrumental in the continuing destruction of America. Good work folks. You'll get what you deserve.

Where is HIS statement?

You know, after hearing Hillary speak about Bobby Kennedy's assination I truly feel she is evil. You know darned good and well she is wanting something bad to happen to Obama. If he is assasinated I will surely feel the Clintons had a hand in it. They will stoop to any evil sleazy level to win. Look at the deaths that were involved in some of their scandals. Talk about an empty suit--there is nothing but evil in her suit. Both Clintons are dishonest and untrustworthy. I never trusted them from "Day One." This is one white female Independent voter that would never vote for Hillary. I will only vote for an honest and trustworthy female. They both disgust me with their phoniness.

This superdelegates got overwhelmed with the hype on Obama.
But he woke up and see the light.
Hillary is the right choice.
If you are thinking November then Hillary is the right candidate.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW I ROOKIE SENATOR FROM CHICAGO PUT TEAM CLINTON ON THE BENCH.
Posted by: sam | May 27, 2008 10:30:59 PM
Hopefully the super delegates will open their eyes and realize Hillary is a scam artist who cannot hurt them. They can come out into the light and endorse Obama.
Obama is the best candidate
Obama is the only one to beat McCain.
Obama for President 2008-2012
