Article: Friends Feared New Clinton Bimbo Eruptions
June 01, 2008 5:18 PM
ABC News' Tahman Bradley Reports: Former President Bill Clinton's office moved swiftly to discredit a spicy profile story in the June edition of Vanity Fair written by Todd S. Purdum. Clinton's office distributed a memo to reporters Sunday calling Purdum's 9,600 word article "journalism of personal destruction at its worst."
Purdum, a former White House correspondent for the New York Times, cites anonymous Clinton aides, past and present, who paint a portrait of an undisciplined, sometimes reckless man trapped in a vacuum of self indulgence.
Read the story HERE.
Purdum writes that four former Clinton aides told him about 18 months ago that one of Clinton's former assistants grew very concerned about the number of tabloid reports concerning the former president and women. The former assistant said "he felt compelled to try to conduct what one of (the) aides called an "intervention," because he believed "Clinton was apparently seeing a lot of women on the road," according to the article.
Arguing the master has lost his groove -- his world famous political touch -- during the eight years he's been out of office, Purdum quotes another senior aide who he says is part of a group of friends who worry Clinton has never been the same since heart surgery in 2004.
"There seems to be an abiding anger in him, and not just the summer thunderstorms of old. He has been called into question repeatedly by top staff. The fact is, you can only weigh in so often on this stuff. It's just a huge force of nature," says the source, according to Purdum.
The choice of business associates and the close friends Clinton now keeps are perhaps the greatest concern of the aides, Purdum writes. "Butt boy" Doug Band, a counselor to Clinton, has been said to rub people the wrong way, according Purdum's sources.
Maggie Williams, former White House chief of staff to Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., who now serves as Mrs. Clinton's presidential campaign manager, left her job in the Clinton Foundation partly because of Band, writes Purdum.
Then there's Ron Burkle, a California billionaire and Clinton business partner, who has investors that include an entity connected to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, ruler of Dubai.
Clinton's office argues the article features "past attacks" and fails to mention the global humanitarian work done by the Clinton Foundation.

The only reason we only hear this stuff now is that Obama chose to run a clean campaign and the thanks he gets from the HRC nut jobs is to vote against him in the fall.
Like Hillary could really win in November. Not with all the NEW dirt that would come out.

Vanity Fair?
I am no Clinton supporter, but I do not think I'll wait with held breath to read this.
I am sick of innuendo.
Besides what this man does, or does not do is of no concern of mine.

@Yea sure.
No I have never been a Hillary supporter. There is someone else using the same name from time to time, so I guess there is no control over the user name on these blogs.

I find the Obama people quite hypocritical when it comes to stories like this. When the Jeremiah Wright issue came to the forefront, the Obama supporters all cried, "but that is his pastor, what has it got to do with him?". Now another BS Bill Clinton story is about to surface and they are all over it like you know what. Of course this is not a story about Hillary Clinton, but the rules are different for the Clintons, at least if you support Obama that is. This is why I will never, ever vote for Obama, a vote for him is a vote for hypocrisy.

Never ever going to vote for that empty shell of an American? a what??
Obama the enigma or the a figment of the DNC's imagination.
Tripping over rainbows, spouting fairytales. Selling hope and change as if they were commodities on Wall Street!143 days in the Senate and NOTHING to show for it, hanging on to any bill he could slide on to, never shows up, never shuts up! Never vote for Obama he is a fraud!

Clintons will NEVER occupy the White House again. They are unfit! There are enough of us to keep them out, and we will. No matter how many Hillary supporters there are, they are outnumbered by those who will not allow these people to be residents of the nations' house again.

If's he's stepping out on a woman who wants to lead American then his past work means nil. He expected everyone to over look his messing around in the WH too. Many didn't and they didn't appreciate Hillary forgiving him and defending him while going after the women he dallied with...like they were the only ones at fault.
He has the mroals of an ally cat and sleeps with women his daughters age. He hasn't stopped based on the numerous accounts out there for all to read.
I'm just glad she is no longer a viable candidate.

IS PURDUM'S LAST NAME "KEITH OLBERMANN"?
THATS THE ONLLY MAN WHO MAKES A LIVING HUNTING THE CLINTONS.

Obama is the one who is the security Threat to this nation.
Sounds like someone wants their 15 min of fame, with vanity fair.

So she is STILL tolerating his philandering and then dares to act like a victim of sexism. Even for Hillary, that's shoddy and cheap.

JRS:
Even if your argument is true and Obama supporters are hypocrites, what's your argument for Hillary's hypocrisy? While you don't like the hypocrisy of Obama's supporters, Obama's supporters don't like the hypocrisy of Hillary herself. Which one do you think is worst? I'll take indirect hypocrisy over direct hypocrisy any day.

Another headline grabber to diffuse her victory in Puerto Rico where she cleaned Obama's clock, even with those college students. Nice pattern. (She wins West Virginia, they drag out John Edwards to endorse.)
Not falling for it. My vote never goes to him.

Everyone relax...The end is near for the Clintons.
Thankfully, America saw them as they frauds they are and have voted to send the Clintons out to pasture.
HRC will certainly blame Bill for the disaster but her own arrogance and sense of entitlement is what did her in.
It's over by Wednesday.

I support Obama.
This sort of gutter journalism disgusts me when deployed against Obama.
It also disgusts me when used against (either) of the Clintons.
Yuck:-(

The Vanity Fair expose is excellent, revealing and well-researched. THE CLINTONS, especially Bill, represent one of the worst cases of selfish individualism. They act ruthlessly and recklessly in private and public life—and, they now live in their self-created Dreamland USA. In the past, when backed to the corner, they cried "vast right wing controversy" and Democrats rallied for the sake of solidarity to save the Clinton Presidency. They got of easy, with no lesson learned. After running a poor (and very negative campaign) in which they experimented with every conceivable dirty trick of the old politics--kitchen sink, gender, race, media, sympathy, whining, red phone, Bosnia fire, working class vs. the rest, cards and more--now it is the vast "Democratic delegates conspiracy." Hillary and Bill are still shouting in our ears that without them the world cannot --never--be saved. We know better! Lacking any sense of personal responsibility, the Clintons never blame themselves--their reckless behavior, self-sabotage, lack of ethics and principle, selfish individuality, and more--all of which constrained many women feminists to conclude--"not this woman." Surely, in the future, a woman better qualified and with all the requisite positive qualities will emerge to claim the Presidency with all of our support!!! Not this woman! Once the Clintons got out of the way, the Democratic Party will begin to write a more hopeful, more positive history of its politics! –Dr. Sam

This is old news. Clinton has been a womanizer probably since high school. If anyone believes Monica Lewinsky was his first, or last, is extremely naieve. As for his business contacts, it's well known that he would have to sever some of those relationships if Hillary won the White House. I dislike both Clintons quite a bit, but there is no point beating a dead horse.

What's new??? We were all screwed by Bill Clinton for eight years not so long ago.
He's the scum of the earth, and I'm talking Ted Kennedy quality here folks.
Out.

Steve, Bill Clinton is not running for president and he did not liberate Auschwitz.

On Friday, gas was $3.919 per gallon. On Saturday, it was $3.999 per gallon. What is this, the Weimar Republic? When we moved here, during the evil Clinton days, gas was $.899 per gallon. Horrible, nasty Clintons. As one joke said, during Clinton's terrible term, a blind man could be hired as a night watchman. Compare facts with facts.
Obama is a shadow with no substance who backstabs his friends and spiritual advisors. What has *he* said about gas prices and our now poor standard of living?
Basically, I've never missed voting in an election since Carter (whom I didn't vote for in the primary, but held my nose and voted in the general election).
Basically, Obama is public relations, image and has nothing to really show for himself except a televangalist way of preaching to the naive. Those with big pockets are trying to buy him.
The choice comes down to stagnation on both sides. I might sit this one out.
