Clinton Supporters Protest Outside Obama Finance Meeting in DC
June 26, 2008 7:09 PM
ABC News' Jennifer Parker Reports: Less than 20 people, mostly women, holding "Free Hillary" and "NObama" signs, protested outside the Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC Thursday night where Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., is expected to appear at a fundraising event for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
They are part of a coalition of groups still angry that Clinton lost the primary.
"We don't want Barack Obama to be president," said Will Bower, columnist for the Huffington Post website, and co-founder of the "Party Unity My Ass," and "Just Say NO DEAL" groups.
The newly-formed groups are urging Clinton not to deal with Obama and fight for the nomination at the Democratic Party convention in August.
"The DNC has pre-wired this election to put in an insider candidate and we need to stop it," Bower said, citing the Democratic National Party delegate system.
"He needs to worry about the women," argued Patricia Lengermann of Maryland, a member of the "Just Say NO DEAL" coalition. "He never got a majority and she has 18 million voters," she said, "he should make a gesture to her to pay off her debt -- half of it she spent herself," she said.
Lengermann said she'll vote for presumptive Republican candidate Sen. John McCain in November if Obama is still the Democratic presidential candidate.
"We are still hoping for a miracle," she said, "I've never voted for a Republican in my life but I'm voting for McCain if Hillary isn't on the ticket."

Indayhill I don't need to do research. I know all about public financing. And why exactly would I blow my brains out??? Just an odd thing to say. Anyway all I was saying is that if these women are so devoted to Hillary why not help her pay her debt like so many on here say they are doing.

They rejected the most qualified presidential candidate and "selected" one who is NOT QUALIFIED.

Oh please the woman ran a lousy campaign , wasted her millions of dollars, donated to her much of it by hardworking taxpayers.
She than lied to her supporters trying to convince them she won the popular vote (and worse than that they bought it hook, line and sinker)
Obama won and Hillary lost. Grow up!

Go ladies go!
BHO took you and your party down the porcelain fixture. Remember how you were treated (and still are).

The snob Obama should be humbled by Clinton's ability to give of her vast resources to him, but never will he be humbled. He has the most offensive air of superiority of anyone I have ever witnessed in politics or anywhere in public life. He is nothing but a chronic blamer, mind changing, flip flopper. He has absolutely no convictions at all that he will stand by 100 percent when the going gets tough. He will NEVER get my vote.

I was at this event, and there were mostly individuals from "Codepink", an anti-war group and from "VoteBoth.com" who advocate for a joint Obama-Clinton ticket. There were approximately 3 (albeit large) anti-Obama signs, way less than 20, and not even close the majority of those protesting. Additionally, it was unclear that these individuals were "Clinton supporters", about 3, were ever supporters of Clinton. This post is highly misleading.

Good Grief, 20 protesters (probably 15 of them were McCain supporters to begin with.
Why do you not bother to report on the thousands of protesters that try to get their voices heard wherever George Bush goes, but for 20 people who are anti Obama, you think this is something significant??

How exactly should Hillary supporters "get over it?" Remember, the DNC silenced the voices of 600,000 voters in Michigan, stole delegates from Hillary, and broke the very charter of the Democratic Party under the fair reflection clause. "Uncommitted" is a presidential preference under the DNC charter. It is a violation of the rules to assign the uncommitted votes to any candidate. The DNC cooked this entire thing up in the equivalent of a smoke filled room - an environmentally friendly office building in DC. Halving the delegates from Florida, another debacle, is as outrageous an act as possible. On the positive side, Hillary is not out of the race. Her campaign is suspended which means she retains her delegates, and you better believe she will be at the convention. You know who else is going to be there? All one hundred and forty undeclared super delegates who have not endorsed anyone, or refuse to endorse Obama. Obama supporters must understand that Hillary supporters, or a large percentage of them will never vote for their fake candidate. Unity? HA HA HA

This is a shameful low in the women's movement.

I do not think Obama can help with Hillary’s debt even if he wants to. He has peaked awhile back already and is on a downward spiral from here. The Buyer’s remorse is setting in as people begin to find out more and more about him. I believe the Hillary supporters are just being true to themselves, and rightly so, that they will not vote for someone that is so inexperienced, flip flops hourly and has so many questionable ties… these all point to Obama’s detrimental character flaws. Obama will turn out to be the biggest disappointment for the DNC.

This is a shameful low in the democratic party, to rig an election, and choose the neocon as their presumptive nominee. John McCain and Obama are the same candidate. Wake up America.

Also, 20 people protesting is not the story. It is the millions of pissed off democrats who would never support Barack Obama no matter how much the DNC wants to try and scare us with the McCain boogeyman. It's not going to work. The polls also had John Kerry beating Bush, and Obama beating Hillary in, let me remember, NH, OH, TX, NM, CA...
Wake America. If you want positive change, join the millions still supporting Hillary. Don't think that 20 protesters is the whole story here.
Try millions of registered democrats.

Josh, please. It's over for Hillary. And she's accepted it. It's time to move on from this. And the election was not rigged no matter how you want to spin it.

I guarantee you that there are more than 20 Democrats vowing to vote McCain. ;)
McCain had a group conference call with roughly 11,000 former Clinton supporters (in case you've never participated in a conference call, the key person speaks and everyone else just listens from their end).
This is a big problem for Obama! Even if 10% of Clinton supporters either stay home and not vote, or vote for McCain, it can really damage Obama. Polls show 20%-40% doing either, depending on the state the polling was conducted.

You want to know why all you here 24/7 is "UNITY"?
Today's Gallup Poll shows McCain and Barack TIED at 44% each. 2% undecided. Obambi is in BIG trouble and he will not get Hillary supporters. He's toast!

These 20 brave people are a drop in the bucket! They are just a handful of the many thousands of patriots who are willing to stand up for their country and refuse the dictatorship that has occurred in the democratic party!!
Our numbers grow daily!! We will not go along with this sham! We will not accept a corrupt, inexperienced politician who has more baggage than United Airlines!
Give me Hillary or give me McCain!

Sorry Erin, there are a lot of reasons why we won't support Obama.
#1 - Lack of experience, good judgment, and common sense. He's waist-deep in Chicago politics and he hasn't had any real accomplishments to prepare him for the presidency.
#2 - Amount of cheating in the caucuses. If Hillary wins a state's primary by 3%, then Obama wins the same state's caucus by 30%, you have to question how fair his delegate lead is. He paid one of my friends, along with a busload of other college students, to go caucus in Iowa, even though they weren't even from that state. In Texas, it was reported he got 19 delegates at one precinct when he only got 4. This goes on and on, but the Obots and MSM turned a blind eye to it. If it'd been Hillary doing any of this, she would've been crucified.
