McAuliffe: Clinton Would Campaign Every Day for Obama

ABC's Eloise Harper reports: Terry McAuliffe, Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, says she will do anything to help Democratic nominee Barack Obama -- even travel every day, if that is what he wants.

“She will do anything. She has made that clear. She will do anything she can to help Barack Obama,  travel if he wants her to travel everyday she will do that," McAuliffe told reporters outside of Clinton's  Washington DC home Friday, as hundreds of staffers were gathering at the house for a final party.

McAuliffe wouldn’t comment on the meeting that took place between Obama and Clinton last night.

Clinton’s surrogate also wouldn’t comment on the Senator's concession speech tomorrow –- but said she would focus on party unity. “This was never about Hillary Clinton. This was about all the issues that mattered to her that’s what we need to talk about.”

Clinton’s mood is upbeat, McAuliffe insisted, even as the lengthy, hard-fought priamry battle has ended in her opponent's favor. “It's great. I’ve spoken to her a bunch of times," he said.

McAuliffe said the mood upbeat among staffers as well, adding that Clinton' shattered the glass ceiling in her historic bid for the presidency. “It was a great campaign. For 17 months everybody worked their hearts out. You look at Hillary talk about breaking the glass ceiling -- I think she shattered it.  I mean, she got more than 18 million votes -- she won a lot of important states. I think I speak for all the staff  -- they’re very proud. It was an exciting campaign...but  now we do everything we can to help Barack Obama to be the next president because it's about the issues”

When informed that there was no alcohol inside the the Clinton's staff party McAuliffe joked with reporters: “There’s no booze? I'll take care of that”

I think Hillary only wants to be asked to be VP, so that she can then turn down Obama, and she would then go public with the details through her surrogates. She then will half-heartedly campaign for him, continue to build her resume, talk herself up as a populist, and prepare for her next presidential run in 2012. Sounds a bit like John Edwards long range plan as well, as he says he won't accept the VP slot if offered. Edwards, in the meantime, wants to be Attorney General under Obama.

I start to get the impression that some Hillary voters are so dumb that they didn't know where they were voting for with Hillary. Now they are surprised and angry that Hillary will support Obama?! Of course she will; he is fighting for HER issues as well, and they share the same political enemies: the GOP, Bush, John McCain. And remember how early in the race Hillary actually offered the VP spot to Obama? She's been an Obama admirer and a McCain hater ALL the time. You didn't notice? Then you certainly are dumb.

John Edwards is not interested in the VP slot because he doesnt want to lose a second time. Remember kerry/edwards?

What I do not undersatnd now is why all of a sudden both DNC and Obama want Hillary to help!

She is NOT required to campaign for him, but I know she'd do it because AGAIN she's being pressured!

And that fraud Obama should have ALREADY offered the veep slot to her! What is he waiting?? Doesn't that bozo realize that the woman is willing to stump for him "every day" if that's what it takes for him to win, AND he's still hesitating?!?!?

Obama is not only a fraud, but he's also an ingrate!

I'll tell you this. He's threatened by Hillary, because he knows she's smarter and more qualified. So in the end he'll pick somone who won't eclipse his aura of greatness.

I moved to this country from Britain and used to love America so much, until the Bush years, and now there is a wonderful chance to make this country great again and beloved around the world and these people would sooner hand over the election to a man who will be another Bush just because their candidate lost an extremely close election. I am heartbroken and cannot see how you can live with yourselves if you allow racism and spite to overwhelm your intelligence.

I perfectly understand that, in honor to your political viability, you have to campaign on Obama's behalf. I respect your rationale and commend you for your solid philosophical stand. Furthermore, you are a beautiful woman, smart, well educated, and very attractive. In short, you should not have anything that prevents me to be your most passionate follower. However, we must not forget that we (your followers) are beings with moral principles as well, and we make decisions according to them.

Hillary, I've never allowed anyone to use me as an accessory to any crime and I'm not going to do it now, even if the most beautiful and intelligent woman in the world ask me to do it. I am not going to validate with my sacred vote a piracy act. My vote in November will be undecided.

A lot of us Clinton supporters do indeed feel disappointed because of the DNCs actions and favoritism for obama, but really can't do much about it now. I will support Hillary Clinton even after the general election. But to me, and please note this, MANY, MANY of her supporters, we will not vote for obama. He is not presidential material, is unvetted and has already demanded that no one talk about his wife, his church, his preachers, his anti-American associates, and everyone has rolled over for him. I have never cared for any type of politician that the MSM has purposely avoided vetting, hiding and not printing of information about a favorite candidate and the horrible habit of trashing another candidate in the rudest possible way. I think that in intself is just un-American.
These supporters, no matter what Hillary wants, will not vote for obama. Look for a lot of these people not to vote at all or voting for John McCain, which is what I will do.
Never obama - never.

Anyone But Clinton

Never ever I vote for communist party = democratic party.
Communists vote for their leader, not voters.
Democratic delegates & super delegates vote for nominee, not voters

Posted by: Allison | Jun 6, 2008 5:55:44 PM

I like how that sounds.

"Whatever Barack wants, he can have it, everyday if he wants".

My, how much difference a simple week makes, huh?

Last week, Clinton has heading to Denver. Today, she's pimping herself out.

TO THE VICTOR GOES THE SPOILS.

OBAMA 08

Could you explain who has "done Clinton wrong" and how they "done her wrong"?

Posted by: λόγος | Jun 6, 2008 6:05:55 PM

Anyone who supported Hillary, but now support McCain because she is out of the race have to be the dumbest MFer's on the planet. What kind of belief system is that? It isn't the politicians ruining this country as much as morons like that - who vote.

Posted by: Tom | Jun 6, 2008 6:20:03 PM

Some people feel so good if Obama will be elected as president...

The question: what will he do good to you? Will you make more money because of him? Will you move to a bigger nicer house because of him? Or will you be promoted becasue of him?

People need to look at reality and think what he will do good to yourself so you will vote for him to be president...

Posted by: True Truth | Jun 6, 2008 6:22:04 PM

Why? To see more boneheaded mistakes and so boneheaded not to admit and correct it?

Posted by: fools | Jun 6, 2008 6:22:42 PM

It's almost certain that Bho will have another boneheaded "mistake" - so he called - when he opens his large mouth with read a piece of junk from Sorenson.
He has completely deceived half of the dems, and will lose for a sorry sure.
