McCain Praises Hillary
June 02, 2008 6:13 PM
ABC News's Bret Hovell Reports: Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., offered what seemed to be a fond farewell to rival Hillary Clinton this afternoon at a town hall meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.
McCain was reminded by an audience member that though he had mentioned Barack Obama several times during his remarks, he had not talked about Clinton, even though, as the woman said, she is "technically" still in the race.
"Yes, Senator Clinton is still in the race," McCain said. "I have known Senator Clinton, and I admire her and I respect her.
"She has inspired generations of American women to believe that they can reach the highest office in this nation, and I respect her campaign, and I respect her," McCain said to widespread applause from what seemed like a pretty conservative crowd.
"Now she and I have stark differences on issues, and those are, those are well known," he continued. "And I have debated many of those issues on the floor of the Senate with her, and other places. But I admire the campaign she has run. I think she deserves a great deal of credit."
Recently, McCain has been speaking in these types of glowing terms about Clinton – when he speaks of her at all. Earlier in his campaign, McCain would not mention Senator Barack Obama without also mentioning Clinton, or vice versa. But as Obama’s grasp on the eventual Democratic nomination has grown increasingly firm, McCain’s speeches have more and more been peppered with criticisms of the Illinois Democrat alone.
Despite the seeming end of the road for Clinton, McCain did offer one bit of warning to Republicans, and perhaps a point of optimism for the former first lady.
"I think a few of us who have been around politics for a while, learned a lesson way back in 1992, that you better never count a Clinton out of any race," he said

Hannah...
Uh... it has been proven already my friend that republicans when they could vote for either party they voted for Hillary. If the republicans had more of a diverse group like we did Hillary would have lost 2 of the big states. :)
WVA... we all know what took place there unless some are still in denial despite people openly admitting to racism. LOL!

It is scary that some of you folks will actually cast votes soon.

Brent: be humble, be color blind, be true American and learn what the majority of us have learned to our benefit - that slaves and masters, whites and blacks are words in the vocabulary of only bigots, racists and jaundiced minds.

And he is going to get my vote.., in the event that Hillary is not on the ballot in November (and I mean for president only).
Once more John McCain shows himself to be a class act, which is why he is one of the only Republicans I would consider voting for.
Keep fighting the good fight, Hillary!

All of you "I'll vote for McCain" go ahead! You make women look like petty children! You are the worst thing that has happened to the womens movement in years. Stop being the stereotype, petty, vindictive, short sighted! You want and equal playing field till your on the short end of the stick, then expect the rules to be changed. How dare you leave that legacy for those who will come after you, your daughters, grand daughters! Their road to the top will be a harder climb because of your "hysteria" Vote for McCain, set womens rights back further, he will have at least 2 Supreme court nominees, women will not have equal pay, the right to make decisions for their own body and lives and when you bury your child, as a friend of mine did for a needless war, REMEMBER YOU DIDN'T PUNISH US, YOU DID THIS TO YOURSELVES! You don't get your way far and square you threaten to hold the whole country hostage, so much for a womans empathy and integrity!

All people in my office bet that Hillary will not quit till November, but I guess she is thinking about 2012 already!

Of course John loves Hilliary, after all... neither one of them has a SPINE!!!

There is nothing that the Republican Party would like more than to run against Clinton.... this is why she is endorsed by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Karl Rove , John McCain and the whole FOX news network.

Jack...
BZZZ!! WRONG!
Number one the media had her as the assumptive nominee and even she thought so, but surprise... surprise... and that was the real meaning behind the ministers message. Whether the contender was black/white/asian/hispanic.... Hillary did think she was entitled to the nomination just as many of her followers. I had no problem supporting whoever won and defended her about that movie theater ad put out against her.
But her arrogance and lies began to show. And then Bill and his lies and trying to inject race to break up the Obama diverse following broke my support.
The media spent 3 months on Wright and continues this day.
Hagee/Parsley coverage is over. Done.
Despite McCain SEEKING out their endorsements.
Hillary Bosnia story was washed over as a mistake from so many trips, blah, blah, blah... but there was lil Chelsea who accounted the EXACT SAME thing. Sounds like they planned and talked about it to me. LOL!
2012 should be Obama's 2nd term.
If he doesn't make it in 2008 it will be because of Hillary supporters living up to that white ministers show at his former church.
If this happen there will not McCain in 2008, but McCain in 2012 because an act of betrayal such as this will not be forgotten. ;)

I WILL NEVER MY VOTE FOR OBAMA!

Racist finder...
So Obama is racist against blacks and white the races he is made up of, not counting ancestory?
Oh.. the lack of logic there just has me ROTFLMA!!!
Posted by: Greg | Jun 2, 2008 7:40:50 PM
Ethan...
Don't speak for me. Everyone would include me and I lost respect for her during this campaign.
Karl Rove? Respect? Another one that has me ROTFLMA!!!
Posted by: Greg | Jun 2, 2008 7:43:03 PM
This is one HRC supporter that will never vote for Obama. I have always respected John McCain and contrary to Obama supporters belief, McCain has always respected HRC and has worked with her in the Senate for years. As long as McCain picks a moderate VP I will vote for him in November. If he does not I will stay home for the first time since I was 18 years old.
So while you Obama supporters ridicule me, remember you're part of the problem, you could have been part of the solution.

"Everyone respects Hillary. Even Karl Rove."
Karl Rove called her both 'fatally flawed' and 'unable to win'. Mccain's recent 'respect' is born out of a desire to court her conservative blue collar constituency (that rove has forever lost), and not a sign of honest respect for her, just for the people she's been able to court.
Like her or not, she's neither great nor as mediocre as mccain. She was able to take large chunks of Mccain's base because he failed to appeal to traditional conservatives due to inconsistencies in his 'straight talk' vs 'actual business' , while at the same time unable rachet up the next level of insanity required to court rove's neo-conservative base.
This is the little secret of Rove's 'genius', his dixie cup constituency. He sold them a bill of goods ( a promised christian sharia, a tiny government run by blue collar nazcar loving liberty-u educated holy men, along with a new empire and crusade ) and then didn't deliver, now he won't get them back unless he can convince them satan is running against mccain, and that mccain's first action will be to restart the civil war, then rid america of anyone whose not ultra right wing and whose direct ancestors weren't on the mayflower.

Bravo! Good for you! Looks like you will have to experience this scenario twice this year, huh. LOL!
Posted by: Greg | Jun 2, 2008 7:44:14 PM
Mac what have they done against HRC? Every word that comes out of his mouth is complimentary! Michele hasn't said a word about Sen. Clinton, so you issue is?
giz Why, black man in the highest office too much for you? Or are you a Rep. in that case damn us all to higher gas, sons and daughters being killed and maimed in Iraq for no reason, your humanity knows no bounds

I am absolutey sickened by the Clinton supporters that say they are going to side with McCain. A vote for McCain is a vote for 4 more years of Bush. Got it? Good.
Now, in November try to remember that when you go to the ballot box.

Very_mad...
Meth/Crack/Powder Cocaine?
Which one are you high on?
Last I heard the press doesn't have access to manipulate votes.
The voters have spoken, unlike what Hillary has been trying to do which is override the will of the people.
Enjoy your stay with McCain.
Somehow I feel it will be short lived.
