N.Y. Congressional Democrats: We Endorse Obama
June 05, 2008 3:54 PM
ABC News' James Gerber reports: Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., led his fellow Democrats from the New York Congressional Delegation, including many of Sen. Hillary Clinton's, D-N.Y., strongest supporters, in endorsing Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for president Thursday afternoon.
Standing with his colleagues from New York in front of the Democratic National Committee headquarters, Rangel announced, "We collectively endorse Senator Obama."
"It was a great campaign," reflected Rangel, "and we are so pleased to see that on this Saturday, in Washington, D.C., [Clinton] intends not only to reach out for unity, but to reach out and support directly Senator Obama."
Rangel said that Clinton waited to hear the counsel of her supporters before making a decision. "She said that she was delaying for the purpose of getting advice from her supporters," said Rangel. "And she got the advice."
As to why Clinton is waiting until Saturday to endorse Obama, Rangel said "she wanted to include more than just members of Congress."
Rangel was not surprised that Clinton held out as long as she did. "We're Democrats," he proclaimed. "Dammit to hell we fight. When it's over, we come together and go out there to win."

Does that mean Obama is going to institute the draft like Reingal supports?

Rangel is a decent guy.
I don't know why people like Limbaugh and some commenters here have a problem with him.
I guess people just get stuck in the past and can't move on.

-----------------
Why is it that most of the arguments against Obama have nothing to do with what Obama says or does.
Most just try to impose everyone elses words and views on him. Apparently if anyone supports Obama, Obama must agree with everything they say or do? It's not a very logical assumption.
Anyone who campaigns and has millions of supporters is obviously not going to agree with everything that every supporter says.
(Of course, most of the comments here are just lame attempts to try and be clever and sarcastic. Weak.)
OBAMA 08!

Why is it news that they are supporting Obama. They would prefer Clinton and are not going to support a Republican?
but Charlie, Democrats like obama do not fight to win versus terrorists.

Mack,
Did you think Huffpo=Tripe when they broke the bitter-gate story on Obama?
Posted by: DemsUnited | Jun 5, 2008 4:45:30 PM
Kate,
And McCain will probably pick Vicky Iseman to be his VP. That is his true love.
See, two can play that game. Let's stop with the nonsense and other crap and focus on the important business of selecting a president instead of Worthless filth.

the boneheaded mistakes continue.

Too little, too late.
These NY "Democrats" stood by while HRC viciously attacked her Democratic opponent lending Republicans ammunition for the GE. They stood by while she & Ferraro played the race card. The turned the entire party apparatus over to one candidate before the NY primary. They marginalized & threatened any one who attempted to support any other candidate. In Rangel's own district there were precincts that reported 0 votes for any other candidate.
Barack Obama is a person of great generosity of spirit. But he has not had to endure a totally inadequate & unprepared outsider as senator for 7 years.
We New Yorkers have.
We will remember in November & every November to come.

"That is a low class thing to do and it sinks us to the same level of the Clintonite blog spammers, and wore than them, the GOP Slime ball spammers." DemsUnited, your despicable comment is a reason why many of us are voting against Obama because we're voting no to sexist, racist treatment of Hillary supporters! We're voting no to scare tactics by Obama supporters! We're voting no to Obama supporter silence when racist, bigoted remarks fly from other Obama supporters. We're voting no to bigotry and prejudice from Obama supporters! We're voting no to bullying by Obama supporters! We're voting no to this cycle of abuse from Obama supporters!! We've had enough of abusive Obama supporters and we're saying NO! We're rising up, standing up and voting NO!! NO MEANS NO!!!
