Richardson to Help Clinton Ease Debt
June 29, 2008 3:18 PM
ABC News' David Chalian Reports: Clinton ally James Carville may have called him "Judas" when he endorsed Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton in March, but that isn't stopping Gov. Bill Richardson D-NM., from offering to raise money to help Sen. Clinton retire her significant campaign debt.
"We've been asked to help. So in principle we are going to help," Richardson told ABC News after addressing members of the Democratic Leadership Council in Chicago at the centrist group's annual gathering. "I think the party needs to come together," he added.
Richardson cautioned that the healing process inside the Democratic Party after its protracted nomination battle may not yet be complete. "Everybody's a human being. There still probably is a need to heal a little bit. It's not going to come back and be together right away. It may take a little time," Richardson told the crowd in his prepared remarks. "I mean, I hope not too much longer," he added to laughter in the audience. Gov. Richardson then mentioned that he has seen some hopeful signs of the party stitching itself back together and that he is "going to be involved in a debt event for Sen. Clinton in New Mexico." He later added that the event has yet to be scheduled.
President Clinton worked hard to woo his former cabinet secretary's support for his wife's candidacy after Gov. Richardson ended his own bid for the Democratic nomination. In January, Mr. Clinton flew to Santa Fe, New Mexico to watch the Super Bowl with Gov. Richardson as part of the outreach effort. Gov. Richardson ultimately decided to endorse Sen. Obama's candidacy in March which was received as a great affront inside the Clinton campaign at the time. Gov. Richardson noted today that his endorsement of Sen. Obama got more public attention than either his campaign announcement or withdrawal speeches.
In his remarks at the DLC, Gov. Richardson addressed six major foreign policy/national security challenges awaiting the next president including nuclear proliferation and the rapid rise of China and India. He said that before Barack Obama said a word at his inauguration, the image of a "young man with an internationalist background" would immediately work to restore the United States' reputation around the world.

sandy,
Clinton should have completed her campaign in a financially responsible manner, but her campaign was spending like a druken sailor from the very beginning.
Spending millions and millions is Puerto Rico, where they can't vote in the GE was beyond stupid. She wanted to make a point, and it was an expensive one.
She has no one to blame but herself. She was the Captain of the ship.

How do I get paid by McCain's group to post stuff on these blogs? I could use the money.

you republicans on this site are pretty funny. And REALLY obvious. No one that supported Hillary is going to vote for McCain. That would be like voting for Bush over Bill C. Never happen. Their philosophies are so entirely different. Any Hillary supporter that votes for Roe V Wade being overturned, and more and more war and killing the military and the middle class is a joke. Put a fork in Sen McCain and the whole bunch of Republican traitors. Time for a much needed change. We need America to once again become the greatest nation in the world!

I do not remember saying anywhere in my post that I would vote republican... Is this the only way you can think of to insult us? I do not consider myself a sore looser because actually and legally we won the primary. You are the true hate mongers and insulting crowd who only speak through dirty words because that is all you can do for your candidate. There is actually nothing that he has done to prove he is a good candidate. All he's done is brainwashed all of you with his rhetorics!

CMSgt Gary Preston:
The Hillary supporters that will be voting for McCain were actually Republicans that switched to support Hillary. If Hillary was never in the election, these folks would have been for McCain all along - regardless of who the Democrat was.
They are just going back after their brief adventure on the bright side.

LOL! And with that we can completely disregard the rest of your posts as nonsense. Actually and legally, she lost. By every measure, she lost. No matter how much you rely on the Clinton Clown Math, she lost.
So move along.
And since Clinton and Obama agreed on 97% of the issues, as she said in her speech on Friday, you should support him too, as Hillary said.
Or is SHE now Judas too? LOL!

jmc663 - I agree - Hlllary mismanaged her campaign. However, there are many vendors out there who still need to be paid - these people putting doown Richardson because he is willing to help are a sick bunch!
Posted by: sandy | Jun 29, 2008 5:28:56 PM
sandy,
Yup! I agree, there are many small businesses out there who need the money they were promised and if Big Bill Richardson can get the job done, then more power to him!
I just find the Judas remarks a hoot. Can't they come up with their own insults, instead of being Carville robots?
Posted by: jmc663 | Jun 29, 2008 5:30:59 PM
hillary-HELL- NO!!!I would agree with you 100% about Hillary paying off her debt - but she is prevented by election laws from doing so.
Posted by: sandy | Jun 29, 2008 5:31:21 PM
LOL! As I said before, all you can say about BHO is that those of us who are against him are Republicans! You are all as egocentrics as he is! Grow up, there are millions of us who are not republicans! We are just as passionate as you are for our candidate with a big difference: we do not post vulgarities in blogs to state our positions. We speak facts. Check out your candidate's Flip flops on so many issues as FISA, guns, campaign money, must I go on? And do not bother to answer me because I have no more time for your stupidities!

"I hope that all of us that can will do our best to help Hillary Clinton pay off ALL of her campaign debt quickly. She deserves that. You all knew Hillary, and Bill would go out on a limb for us if they felt they had too"
That's a joke! Hillary and Bill will go out on a limb to help IF IT BENEFITS THEM.
I will not donate a red cent to pay off the debt of someone who continued a campaign that she knew was unwinable. Her ego got the better of her and she & Bill had this wild idea that Hillary was "entitled" to be the next President. HA, jokes on you Clintons.
So the millionaires want us unimportant pions to help pay her bills. Bull$hit!
PAY YOUR OWN DAMNED BILLS HILLARY.
OBAMA DOESN'T OWE YOU A DIME OR THE VICE PRESIDENCY!

Richardson has no honor, and now he tries to redeem himself with fundraising. The less I see this guy, the better.
Posted by: Sylvia Johnsen | Jun 29, 2008 5:42:56 PM
So is Judas(aka)Richardson going to help with Hillary's debt with his "30" pieces of silver
Posted by: charlize | Jun 29, 2008 5:49:34 PM
So what makes Richardson a "Judas"?
Because he supported Obama? Oh heavens no! He had his OWN opinion!! Somebody should investigate, LOL!
It may come as quite a shocker to all you PUMA kitties, but 58% of the Democratic Party don't like the Clintons and 89% of the Republicans HATE them.
Do the math.......not the Clinton Clown Math, but real math. With negative polling numbers like that, Clinton was seen by many as unelectable.
Posted by: jmc663 | Jun 29, 2008 5:56:30 PM
You Obama Democrats just don't realize that without Hillary's supporters (and there are far more of them than there are Obama followers) Obama doesn't have a snowball's chance, do you? Seeing in November will be believing.
Posted by: ChristineRI | Jun 29, 2008 5:58:55 PM
Charlize
It doesn't matter how many people like or do not like Clinton. I hope that BO does pick Richardson for VP. PUMA Democrats will then have the opportunity to not vote for 2 incompetents instead of only one.

so little girl need help from big guy. Nothing has really changed. The feminists get in trouble and they run to big daddy for help. It is either a big daddy donor or big daddy government.
Posted by: strangelove | Jun 29, 2008 6:00:00 PM
If everyone on this post and others that doesn't want Hillary to seek to accept help paying her debt would just go on line and contribute $10, $15, $25 dollars, she could pay it off overnight and not suffer the indignity that comes from Obama, Richardson et al. I have never gave to a policial campaign until last week and I couldn't take their "look how holy I am" attitude.

Nobody OWES Hilliary ANYTHING!!! She tried, she failed... why should anybody have to bail out a billionaire? That's what's wrong with this country, all the welfare goes to the rich, and the public is dumb enough to cheer for it. Enjoy your enslavement, and give your gold to Caesar. After all they deserve to be reimbursed even when they lose... Especially at YOUR expense!!! Where's my bucket, I'm about to PUKE!!!
Posted by: pity | Jun 29, 2008 6:01:25 PM
Obama is the one who has to suck up to Hillary because he can't do it on his own. Weak much?
