Clinton Backs 'The Man' Barack Obama; Democratic Duo Pleads for Cash

ABC News' Sunlen Miller and Eloise Harper Report: For the second time in as many days, Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were together again, making a pitch for money and putting a Democrat in the White House.

"As someone who took the same historic journey as Senator Clinton, although didn't do it in heels," Obama, D-Ill., told the mostly female crowd of over 2,000 who dined on breakfast fare and orange juice for $250-$2,300 a ticket, "I know firsthand how tough she is, how passionate she is, and how committed she is to the causes that bring us here."

The presumptive Democratic nominee said he "admired" his defeated former rival whom he called a "friend" and insisted, "I know that I desperately need her and Bill Clinton involved in this campaign and I am absolutely convinced if we are working together and all the women in this room are working together there is no way we're gonna lose in November."

Clinton, who was introduced by Obama's half-sister, Maya Soetero Ng, acknowledged she has gotten some sleep over the past month and mentioned she has picked up an exercise regime since she has stepped off the road, a thing she rarely during 16 months of near constant travel.

"Well, I actually don't tell anybody, I'm trying to exercise a little bit which I'm told does wonders for a person because during the campaign," she told the crowd. "I'm sure you read that Barack would get up faithfully every morning and go to the gym. I would get up and have my hair done. It's one of those Ginger Rogers, Fred Astaire things."

In a more serious moment, Clinton looked back only to look forward.

"When it's over I know how difficult that is," she said of her bid for the White House. "I have been in winning and losing campaigns for a very long time and I've been in primary campaigns here in our Democratic party and I understand how challenging it is to turn on a dime and say, 'OK close that chapter, now we are on to the next chapter.'"

"It is a process and it does take time for people to just take a deep breath to go forward. But of course those who supported me for who I am forever grateful knew that we were on this journey together because we believe so strongly that we want to see again. And anyone who voted for me has so much in common with those who voted for Barack. It is critical that we join forces because the Democratic Party is a family, also at times a dysfunctional family, but it's a family," she said, urging her supporters to back Obama.

Obama, with Clinton's help, pledged victory in November.

"I promise you, we will not just win this election, but we will change the county and change the world and you will give Senator Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama a chance to transform America once again," he said.

I think it is amusing that even Jesse Jackson has negative comments about the anointed one. That should tell you something. Those darn open mics.

Senator Obama is the most corrupt and inexperienced candidate to come down the pike in 50 years. Can not vote for the guy even with Hillary's backing. He is more socialist than moderate democrat regardless of how he has tried to get back to center.

Yes we are for McCain

Mary - I agree!!
Obama is an Arrogant, Radical FRAUD.
This Dem will NOT vote for him - and MILLIONS feel the same way - the DNC picked the WRONG guy - he is NOT qualified to lead our country. Millions of Hillary supporters will unite with the GOP's and make sure obama never wins - and without us - he won't!
McCain is a good 2nd choice - we can trust him.

It really don't matter when God is for you, so what if the world is against you, just move on. Go Barack!

Leave the Woman alone. She has to do what she has to do, even appearing with a boneheaded phony who deceives and lies and is afraid of getting close to jesse.

I was not a Hillary fan. I am now. I want to see her fight for the democrats.I would rather have her fighting for me than against me.If she had won, I grudgingly would have supported her because we need democrats running this country. We need a democrat president and a democratic government period! It is time for middle class and low income Americans to raise up and the dems have the programs that will make that happen. Enough of the republican lies, vomit and garbage!

It is important to vote for who we think will best serve the country. No other criterion is legitimate.

I believe America is fortunate that in its troubled hours public servants of the caliber of Clinton, Obama, and McCain have been willing to subject themselves to the severities and humiliations of running for presidential office. Obama's proposals and allegiances are not far different from Clinton's, but he has been selected by a thin margin, for whatever reason. Let's give him the chance he has earned.

If you really believe in where McCain wants to lead the country, I think he is a good choice. He is a fine example of conservative firebrand principles with a capacity for bipartisan initiative. But if you don't think McCain is what our country needs, Obama is a fine choice for a completely opposite direction. He has run a clean and disciplined campaign and has shown smarts and calm judgment. I don't think we serve the national interest by voting out of spite.

As a foreign observer to these blogs, America must be aware of the fact that Barack Obama is being watched from every corner of the globe. People from all over want to see him president. I mean, we all have a stake in peace. You just watch, he will have hundreds of thousands of people come out to see him in Germany. On second thought, maybe you don't know. You are all so busy arguing and smearing each other, one gets the feeling America is going to implode any minute. WAKE UP AMERICA>

I am saddened to see and hear Obama trying his best to raise funds for Hillary: Is this the price you have to pay? Why didn't Hillary quit when the money ran out? Why does Obama no have to waste precious time praising her and making pleas to people to settle her debt, when he should be out there campaigning. It is clear that Obama is not comfortable with what he is being forced to do between a rock and hard place. Does the support of the Clintons mean so much to the success of his campaign; I think NOT! BUT WHO AM I TO JUDGE! I FEEL SORRY FOR 'THE MAN'. Clinto should have quit when her money ran out. It is very irresponsible of her and sad for Obama to be now begging people to pay up and pay off the bebts of a millionairess.

I have read biography of Obama and conculded that God makes a man as He desires.Because Supreme Lord God never makes any difference between a white or black human being but He resides only in that human being's heart who does not hate fellow human beings. Supreme Lord God makes that human being great whom He wants to make and nobody can order or dictate him. JS LITT jslitt13@yahoo.co.in
