DuHaime Joins McCain Operation as Political Director
July 06, 2008 10:44 AM
ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports: ABC News has learned that Sen. John McCain's campaign has hired Mike DuHaime as political director, the first new hire by Steve Schmidt in his capacity as the person in charge of day-to-day campaign operations.
DuHaime had served as a senior advisor for political operations at the Republican National Commitee since March, but now he will head up the political team from within the McCain operation.
The move comes as the McCain campaign essentially relaunches its general election effort, after weeks of complaints in Republicans circles that McCain, R-Ariz., has been slow to find his footing against Illinois Democrat Sen. Barack Obama.
DuHaime most recently managed the failed presidential campaign of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. DuHaime brings years of experience, organizing on behalf of Republicans at the state and local level, to the job. Notably, DuHaime served as political director of the Republican National Committee, and as regional political director for the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign in 2004.

Mike DuHaime was the grass-roots organizer that tied up John Kerry in the northeast with a smear campaign. Obviously, McCain's advisor (Schmidt) is trying to smear Obama with Bush's own tactics.
Perhaps its time for Obama to adopt some of the Republican tactics too. Like the smear campaign ad that McCain is now running on TV in the midwest. Obviously, McCain is going to play dirty, just like George Bush did, and win by trashing the opponent.
McCain has now flip-flopped on his promise to run a clean campaign. (Again.)

Look at how nasty the liberals are with their comments about a true American hero. No one has flip-flopped more than Barack Obama. Wake up and smell the socialist!

Obama has become a prolific serial liar. His only defense is to say that everyone lies.

I have recently met Sen. McCain in a very small group. Maybe 20 people or so. I think that the claim he is a third term for Bush is totally incorrect. McCain is his own man. Did you know his own son is serving in IRAQ? Who has more personally to loose than a man who's own flesh and blood are at risk in War? What his public comments are about the war are important because he does not want to signal to our enemies any signal of weakness - we can only negotiate from Strength and cannot signal any sign of willingness to move. This is in stark contrast to other presidential hopefuls. In 1961 President Kennedy attempted to reach out to Krushev. Kennedy did was Sen. Obama suggested - meeting with our enemies without any pretense. As much as I like Kennedy, it was a horrible mistake. As Krushev's memoirs state, he felt Kennedy was weak - Krushev immediately built the Berlin wall and started sending missiles to Cuba. Obviously the war hero, Kennedy was ultimately not weak - but risked all of the world in having to prove it. We need a leader that is not so thin or so naive to think that if we are good, that others are good as well - some people just want to destroy us. They really do not see the world as we do. They are live and let live. So let us not all fall into such behavior and look at reality - not just sound bites.

John McCain showed us who he was and trust me the American people believe him and won't let him near the White House so he has sold out AGAIN for nothing.

In reply to the person who said." Mc Cain has to earn my vote" I say
Ask not what your vote can do for you rather ask what your vote can do for your country.
Ask me not who i am voting for, but rather ask me what I am voting for.
Senetor McCain has proven himself throughout his life.
Election campaign is and as it should be "Showtime"
But if you are still at the rehersal stage. I'm afraid you missed the show.
Mc Cain has standing ovation.

McCain fought for our freedom? I fought in Vietnam and it had nothing to do with our freedom. Our forefathers fought for our freedom. John McCain and I did not. We fought a stupid war that should never have been fought.

I am not sure who said that Senator McCain fought for our freedom. I think Eric's statement is right on. Our country has not always done what was right. LBJ should have thought twice before sending us there. However the world was a big Chess Game then and I am sure he was certain that fighting communism was the right thing to do.
In the current war, while you will not hear it publicly unless you actually go to a smaller private meeting with McCain - McCain will state that Donald Rumsfield mishandled the war. He fought the wrong kind of war and was the wrong man for the job. This is President Bush's fault. Much of the decisions were wrong.
This is why I suggest to all on the blog to really search out the truth or at least really focus on more than the headlines and the party lines. Be truly educated. Maybe at the end of the day we will still disagree, but for me, I choose the strong leader with an open mind - the Maverick who sides with Sen. Lieberman more than his own party.

McCain and other Americans did fought for freedom in the Vietnam war. If you live under communism then you will know what is freedom.

In a fairly recent Newsweek article, Obama is setting himself for wiggle room again in case of failure. He said that since he doesn't know Washington well, it would be very difficult for him to fix or change it.

DuHaime most recently managed the failed presidential campaign of former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani? I think you mean mis-managed, Giuliani lost right? This is a guy you really want on your team, a loser! Sentor Obama and I thank you.

Obama has to be the most underqualified candidate in history. If he gets elected this country is in deep trouble.

McCain/Bush/Cheney/Rove/Schmidt/DuHaime
Its kinda of scary to see the final line up of McCain's team. They have won the last two Presidential elections. Already you see impact of Schmidt. DuHaine is no push over. Rove nick- named Schmidt the Bullet. Why doesn't the Democrats give our people nick names like the Bullet? Like James Carville is the only one with a cool name Ragin' Cajun. OK so James can also make us smile but he is a great fighter for Democrats.

the same people who criticize obama for being new to politics are the same ones who think we should 'throw the bums out' with all the wonderful more experienced politicians... mccain has never held a regular job and has been paid by tax dollars his W H O L E life... and now he hires giuliani's failed leader... talk about stupid... mccain has forfeited any illusion of 'maverick' he once had the day he accepted the nomination and RAN over to the white house for Bush's support... he has been morphing into Bush's clone more and more every day
