DuHaime Joins McCain Operation as Political Director

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports: ABC News has learned that Sen. John McCain's campaign has hired Mike DuHaime as political director, the first new hire by Steve Schmidt in his capacity as the person in charge of day-to-day campaign operations.

DuHaime had served as a senior advisor for political operations at the Republican National Commitee since March, but now he will head up the political team from within the McCain operation.

The move comes as the McCain campaign essentially relaunches its general election effort, after weeks of complaints in Republicans circles that McCain, R-Ariz., has been slow to find his footing against Illinois Democrat Sen. Barack Obama.

DuHaime most recently managed the failed presidential campaign of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. DuHaime brings years of experience, organizing on behalf of Republicans at the state and local level, to the job. Notably, DuHaime served as political director of the Republican National Committee, and as regional political director for the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign in 2004.

Having anything to do with Giuliani’s campaign is a definite black mark. I’ll still vote for McCain but associating with Giuliani is a very bad thing.

I don’t care who Schmidt hires (excluding Satan and whoever keeps deleting my post:), just get McCain in the “Oval Office”. McCain 2008

Things are starting to line up for McCain. For those calling him Bush III, you might want to see where Obama stands, as of last week he is looking more like Bush than McCain. And now Obama is getting ready to "refine" his position on Iraq. He's not going to do anything different than the republicans. Yet another example of all talk, no action.

What hasn't McCain flip flopped on?

He's become a carbon copy of George W Bush.

Mike DuHaime is a very smart, morally-centered and honest person. All of you people who call it a bad move don't know the intense focus now brought to the McCain camp by this individual.

Friends, This is a new Era; an era of hope & dreams for AMERICA TO EMERGE AS A WORLD LEADER OF PEACE, PROSPERITY & HEALTH. The world of 20th Century is behind the American People but not behind the Government’s Foreign Policy. America’s Foreign Policy has been criticized & viewed by the world as an occupier. Dr Martin Luther King’s Wife Coretta marked America as a “World Police”.

History says in 1980s America spend in $40 Billion (and many transactions “off Book”) in Weapons/ Technology EMPOWERING THE IRAQ MILITARY & FUELING the IRAN / IRAQ WAR & now, they are counter acting that with a $550 billion IRAQ WAR (price Tag of $12 Billion /month.)TO FULFILL the HUNGER OF OIL… Then the Vietnam War $686 FOR POWER. But that’s not all…..we have not added the cost of human lives --which is priceless.

My point - WHAT WAS THE ULTIMATE GAIN? --- ZERO. (Woops I am wrong –forgot about the Halliburton & Bush /Chaney twins packs –What a money making deal they got! ) WE LOST SO MUCH IN TERMS OR HUMAN LIFE, MONEY - But Think for a moment if we would have spend even 1/3 of that money to improve our infrastructure- I am sure our lives would have been different now . -Terrorism, drugs , street crimes & violence, unemployment , Budget Deficit …. I can go on & on.

My Final statement & appeal to you all- Single Mothers, Retirees, VA’S, & Laid off Workers like me ! LETS VOTE TO STOP THE WAR & VOTE TO STRENGTHEN OUR ECONOMNY, IMPROVE JOB & HOUSING MARKET, RECEIVE TAX RELIEF, IMPROVE HEALTHCARE , SUPPORT CLEAN ENERGY BILL, & IMPROVE OUR BROKEN & MISMANAGED HOMELAND SECURITY SYSTEM.

IF YOU DO NOT CARE FOR ANYTHING ---- AT LEAST THINK FOR THE BRAVE SOLDERS WHO ARE SACRIFICING THEIR LIVES EVERYDAY –TAKE A MOMENT AND SHED A DROP OR TEAR.

GOD BE WITH YOU ALL

Enough already! I'm an independent, leaning Republican. Just recently I hear the McCain campaign is going negative with attacks on Obama re. Bill Ayres. My first reaction was a big groan---it's as if the campaign has given up on even trying to articulate reasons to vote for McCain! This tact also seems condescending to the entire electorate, and it backfires as the Obama campaign retaliates by dredging up the Keating issue. I fear Obama really is a tax and spend liberal and don't want to vote for him, but if McCain can't run a better campaign he's going to lose independents. p.s. I wish politicians would stay out of citizens' personal and moral lives; it is not the place of government---or politicians---to moralize!!!

To Mike DuHaime,Political Director.
You have done a great job todate, carry on.
The Earth is holding its breath till Nov 4.
John always came back from the worst positions. This will happen again,he will recover the few points missing. This will happen if you initiate the right surprising moves(proposals) over the next few days.
Sarah was the right choice, totally unexpected. She is a dream. That is why they after her.The story on the $150.000 cloths and other is simply stupid considering the odds in this 1Billion Campaign.Troopergate story is just another joke, the guy got a new job
the next day, just as any reasonable person in Alaska.
Also, you should be leveraging the "selling" of the "Joe the Plumber"
You forgot about "Jane the working Housewife".Joe wants to keep his small business running ,but Jane wants to keep her small house safe from the vulturs.I sent on Monday to your HQ a colour diagram which summarize it all.
Your person in charge(Caroline Thompson) was kind enough to acknowledge receipt of same. You need to be more visual and come to voters with an updated position considering the fall of everything around us.Fight for both ,the small business owners(SBO) and for the small house owners(SHO).
Make sure SHO voters desert Obama and join John,it will be a double Mac;When you convert one ProObama to join John, you trigger a double win(1 less and 1 more that makes a gap of 2)!
Also you forgot the Fannygate with its ProObama-ProClinton former CEO who was fired with 60M$.It was him who started the whole mess. And They manage to tell us that Fannigate was G.W.B....
You are going to make it,but only if you take the initiative with a new improved proposal to the small voters(SBO&SHO).This is justified by the crisis. With Obama,as Joe Bilden said, the president will be "tested" the day after his election, that is by Osama or any other jerk. Then we are in a real mess.
