Lieberman Dismisses GOP Veep Speculation
July 11, 2008 4:50 PM
ABC News' Ron Claiborne Reports: Senator Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., says he has no interest in being Sen. John McCain's running mate, preferring to remain in the Senate seat he's held for the past 20 years.
"As regards the vice presidency, I really have been there and done that," Lieberman told ABC News in an interview airing on Saturday's World News. "I am not a candidate. I am not interested in doing it. I hope John is elected president. I'm going to work hard to do that happens and I think the best thing I can do the help him be the great president I think he's capable of being is to be Democratic senator working across party lines to get things done."
WATCH MORE OF RON CLAIBORNE'S INTERVIEW WITH SEN. LIEBERMAN ON WORLD NEWS SATURDAY.
Lieberman was re-elected in 2006 as an Independent to his fourth term after failing to win the Democratic nomination. He caucuses with the Democrats, helping give them a razor thin 51-49 majority in the Senate.
Last December, he endorsed McCain for president and has often campaigned with him. He was Al Gore's running mate in 2000.
Because of his early support for and close friendship with McCain, he has been mentioned as a long-shot to be the Republican's pick for the No. 2 spot.
When asked what he would say if McCain asked him to join him on the GOP ticket, Lieberman said,"Well, it's not going to happen. But I'd tell him, 'You honor me by this request to your friend but you can do a lot better, so thank you.'"

Why not his pal Ahmadinejad for Secretary of State?

OK let's say you are the president and Iran just nuked Israel, who would you rather consult Obama or McCain for military advice?
The answer is who our next president will be.

Kramer: You should try harder not to let your racist feelings show through. Your assertion that because he didn't grow up with a father means he cannot be president is ridiculous. Plenty of people have grown up without fathers and you calling them "unmanly" is insulting. Secondly, Barack got into Harvard for law school. He went to Columbia for his undergrad. I went to Columbia and then BC and I can tell you that a lot of people get into Harvard for grad/law school after being at Columbia...black and white.
GXB: You should spell Lenin's name right.
I'm fine with Joe Lieberman running for VP, it will very greatly hamper McCain's chances of winning over the religious right.

Too bad--now I won't get a chance to vote against him in November, and only the folks in CT will get that pleasure should he try to fool his constituency once again.
Dems won't need him to caucus after November, and I don't think there will be a McCain administration to appoint him as Secretary of Remembering How To Tell Shite From Sunni From Al Qaida Or Whatever Instead Of Killing Them All And Letting God Sort Them Out or whatever.
Bye Joe.

Why not his pal Ahmadinejad for Secretary of State? Of course, that assumes he will be elected, but I believe his bubble will burst long before November. Have never seen such a callow, inexperienced, pompous arrogant person such as Obama pretend to be President, with a thinner resume than Bush II. It won't wash in November!

Check out "Vietnam veterans against Mccain" or "Missing, Presumed Dead" McCain collaborated with the VC and men died. McCain AND Kerry didn't allow a continuance of the POW commission, and rushed to normalize relations with Vietnam, without a full accounting of POWS alive or dead in Vietnam. It is entirely possible that these actions resulted in American POWS that were then and could still now be in Southeast Asia as slave labor. Which are being sighted and reported even to this day. McCain is NO hero, he is a traitor who sold out his fellow men into slavery and forgot about them and left they and there familes to suffer permanetly. He is the scum of the Earth and is unqualified to be dog catcher, let alone commander in cheif. Look for yourself. The info is there. Don't let yourself blindly suppport anybody without looking at both sides of their character. Remember giving Bush the benefit of the doubt... TWICE!!!!

I guess the white in Obama made him do cocaine and drugs in his twenty's.
You people and your fixation on race proves another reason Obama should not be elected president - there is just too much white guilt happening this election cycle.

Lieberman was the best thing the Dem party had going for them. He was a reasonable man who made his decisions from common sense and hard data, not rank ugly partisan politics like the rest of the Dem Sheep politicians. So of course, the Dem party threw him out (or did their best to do so).
They screwed up badly, and Joe beat them hands down. Now he is an independent and the better man for it, but the dummy dems need his votes and have to suck up even today.
Way to go dems.

i find liberals to be petty, small and immature - bringing up spelling errors by posters.
maybe you libs should debate issues rather than act like spelling be moderators.

McCain/Liberman will be the ticket Dems would love to beat the c**P out of in November. :) Joe, please do it!

looserman is a flip flopper. He's democrat one day, indpendent the next, and republican the day after that. He's the reason Gore didn't carry by a bigger margin and win the 2000 election. I guess we could blame this screwed up economy and high oil prices on the looserman. What will looserman be tomorrow? It depends on which way the political winds blow.

Neither! Someone who has served in a leadership position in Military. Lets say Colin Powel or may be Wesley Clark?

If "I" am the president, neither McCain or Obama won't be in the same building, let alone the room. I would rather have Powell/Clark around. Okay, may be..may be Obama, NOT McCain. Don't get me wrong, he would have made a fantastic president compared to Bush, but his time has long passed.

the other thing about libs and discrimination is they do it against race and age. And Clinton included gender in his.
I wonder if libs want to rip off McCains nuts...

So the senator from Israel doesn't want the VP job. I guess Jerusalem told him not to take it.
